  • Third stay at Palm Vista

"We love the island of St. John and have settled on Palm Vista as our favorite place to stay. The view is incomparable and the house is so beautifully designed and appointed. Everything you need is there and it's all quality and well maintained. We go with our daughter, son-law and 2 grandchildren and have plent of space and privacy. The owner and his property manager(s) are attentive and responsive. Another wonderful week in paradise. We hope to be back."

  • Cruz Bay Cottage

"I have no hesitation to recommend this cottage to anybody reading this review. We had a perfect vacation and all aspects of the experience exceeded my expectations. What you will get is a quaint cottage on a hillside with a spectacular view. The bed was as comfortable as anything offered in the best hotel. The cottage, although compact, is perfect for two people. The chairs on the porch provide a comfortable place to relax as you watch the ferries come and go and the sun setting in the distance. If I were to say anything negative, (to give balance to this "review"), is that the road from town to the cottage does not have a sidewalk or really any room to walk along without worrying about the traffic. But this is hardly the owner's fault. We had a car so it was not a problem for us and when going the quarter mile or so into town we drove and parked at the car rental lot. I have to also mention how Janet met us at the ferry, brought us to the cottage and then took us to the car rental. That was really nice and much appreciated. We had no reason to call Janet during our stay because there was no need. It was comforting, nonetheless to know she or her husband were only minutes away if we needed something. The cottage was clean and organized and well equipped. I did not seem to be able to get comfortable on the wicker couch or chair in the "living room", but that had the benefit of moving me to the best place, the porch. The cottage has air conditioning which might be more efficient if there were glass windows. We used the air conditioner briefly to cool the place off as we had just ice and snow. Coming from the Midwest, I could not really quite understand the Caribbean Island design of louvers and shutters. (But then again if I lived where it never got cold or snowed I might forego glass windows too). Each window, had a good screen and either wood or metal louvers or shutters. What more do you need! All in all, this little architectural detail added to the exquisite charm of this place. If you want my opinion, you will get everything you see in the pictures or read in the description and more. As for my recommendation, (other than to rent this place), I think to fully explore the island you need a car. My only concession in the overall experience was to drink Coors Light at the local bar on the main street nearby and only because the one dollar price was cheaper than a bottle of water - the two being nearly equivalent in taste. Thank you Janet."

  • Breathtaking from beginning to end!

"Amazing is all I would really need to say... Views, sunsets, birds, flowers, trees, pool - you name it Seascape has it all. We will only stay at Seascape in our return trips to St John. This is like a home away from home... very comfortable and had everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. Loved it..."

  • HEAVENLY WEEK AT MOONSWEPT AND CORAL BAY

"We just came home frm a most glorious week at Coral Bay and your beautiful Moonswept villa. As advertised, it has magnificent views and fresh breezes. It is beautifully appointed and laid out Our daughter and son-iin-law, who are relative newlyweds, joined us for the week and they too loved it. They had been to the Maldives for their honeymoon last August and could not decide which was lovelier but were learning toward St. John. We were out and about every morning to a different beach with the chairs, umbrella, and cooler, then moved on at lunchtime, either to a little roadside lunch, or a picnic lunch at a different beach. Spent a day on a motorized double hulled 26 footer visiting Tortolla, Jose Van Dyke, and many of the little islands that litter the waterways and which offer snorkeling or just pristine, empty beaches. There was a country music festival arriving for the weekend with a preliminary build up at Jost Van Dyke which was noisy, fun and a bit wild. We looked in on it but left quickly as noise and crowds we can have anywhere. We cooked at the house four evenings enjoying the gas fired grill as well as all the pots, pans, bowls, etc. that are part of the house. Ample towels also were wonderful as well as the washer/dryer. Wildlife was abundant with mongoose, donkeys, goats, iguanas, chickens and all the tropical fish and turtles. We saw a young deer venture into the waters edge at sunset at Water Lemon beach to browse or just cool off. Calabash Boom, the dirt road heading up the switchback to the villa, was easily negotiable with a four wheel jeep, but had to be taken at a slow pace. Dave D, the caretaker, was not to be seen but was available for any questions we had. We pretty much navigated the island ourselves but he was most willing to help if we needed anything. We loved our stay and are hoping to get back again."
