  • Rejuvenation close to nature with the comforts of home. It doesn’t get any better than this!

"This year we stayed at Pebble Cove and were so happy to discover this incredible location! The house provided the ideal home for the four of us: spacious, comfortable, great views, amazing sunsets and the sense of living so close to the rhythms of nature. It was easy to forget what day or time it was. All I needed to know was: time for a swim, time to eat or maybe time for a soak in the hot tub. I loved sitting on the deck under the gazebo and looking across the bright blues of Haulover Bay to the land that is all National Park, knowing that it will remain virgin, unspoiled forest. We were able to buy fresh fish from the fisherman in Coral Bay. We also found local honey, papaya, mangos, star fruit and plantains at a small fruit stand in Coral Bay. We also bought fresh greens from Josephine, whose garden center is just down the road from the Love City Market. It was great to see her gardens, a flat area nestled between the hills. This is my fourth trip to St. John and the first time I have seen where she grows her produce. The arugula and mixed greens are great! We walked half mile down the road from Pebble Cove to Vie’s for some West Indian food and then rented her kayak to explore Coral Bay waters. It was fun to get out further and snorkel new areas of the vast bay that East End surrounds. I do wish I had taken my hat! Since we have explored St. John before on our other trips, we didn’t feel compelled to do it all again and mostly stayed on East End and at Pebble Cove. Everything we needed was right there...the lounge chairs on the beach, a hammock, good food, our favorite music, good company, great sunsets, even a few rain showers at night to cool things off. We did eat out at Aqua Bistro in Coral Bay a few times (good!) and had lunch at Sundog when we went to Cruz Bay, but otherwise we were quite content at Pebble Cove. I am carrying home memories of blissfully rocking in that hammock in the shade, listening to the lapping of the water on the shore. We will be back! Thanks, Linda and Allen, for sharing your special place with us."

  • Best Escape from Oregon Winter

"Reef Bay Villa provided a terrific winter escape destination/family reunion site for myself and three siblings and our spouses. The tans are fading but the memories are not. The villa offered plenty of privacy with its three separate buildings for a large group like ours; we would gather in the central great room/kitchen in the morning, have breakfast on the patio next to the pool, decide on our beach destination of the day, and head out to explore the island. Two bedrooms with a shared bath are on the other side of a small patio from the great room building; the two master suites are on the other side of the pool -- this offers great ventilation, terrific views, and privacy, so you are not all on top of each other. The breezes during our February stay were lovely and we never used A/C. Viky, the concierge, was extremely helpful with meeting us at the ferry, getting us to the car rental place and the grocery store, and orienting us to the villa. When the coffee machine went on the fritz, a new one appeared in the kitchen within a few hours of our call. We felt well taken care of. The villa is immaculate and the Balinese touches are unique and beautiful. There is plenty of seating in the great room for after dinnner socializing. One of our favorite things about staying at Reef Bay Villa was the fact that you didn't need a car to walk along the beach below the house all the way to the Petroglyphs, the Reef Bay Sugar Mill, and Lameshur Bay -- and mostly without seeing another person! We mostly cooked dinners together at the villa in the very well equipped kitchen with spectacular views. We had a nice dinner all together in Cruz Bay the first night at the Banana Deck, and ate at Shipwreck Landing in Coral Bay later in the week after an excellent afternoon snorkel sail with Rick and Robin on their Long Distance yacht, recommended by the guest book at the villa. We did pay the $20 fee to park at Caneel Bay but since we ate lunch at one of the restaurants at this very beautiful resort, the fee was waived. Our favorite beach was Cinnamon Bay, where we snorkelled around Cinnamon Cay offshore. The villa provides a cooler for picnic lunches, beach chairs and snorkel gear so we never had to rent. So easy to just arrive, relax and enjoy the island. Thanks to the Ward family for creating such a lovely retreat on St. John."

  • Absolute Paradise!!!

"If you choose Cliffhanger, you will never want to leave, I promise. This was our first time to St. John and I know we would never want to stay anywhere else. We loved staying in Coral Bay...it was quiet but close to everything we could want in terms of restaurants, groceries, beaches and snorkeling. Coming home to this spectacular house every day was truly luxurious. The views are incredible, the house is gorgeously decorated and you will want for nothing. My husband and I celebrated our 20th Anniversary here and each day we would come home and talk about what a fantastic respite Cliffhanger was at the end of a day at the beach. We raved about it so much, my in-laws have already booked a trip to Cliffhanger for Jan. Truly, it really doesn't get any better. For those who like water access right from the house and are comfortable with steep stairs...we swam & snorkeled right from the bottom of the stairs...an easy rocky entry and great explorations. Denise, the homeowner, is one of the best property owners I have ever worked with. Jared and Austin, the property managers, were fantastic as well. I can't wait to return, and bring the kids next time!"

  • Perfect Retreat!

"Stayed here for two weeks and it was a perfect location! You are close to town yet far enough away that it is peaceful and quiet. The driveway takes getting used to, but the walk to the unit from the parking is pretty flat. The three bathrooms made it great when we had all three beds in use. The owner made sure we knew what to do if Hurricane Gonzalo hit, but fortunately it did not. The rooms were good size and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils and cooking stuff. The outside grill was great since it did get hot inside while cooking. Towels were provided as well as coolers and chairs for the day trips. Having gone with natives, we swam and snorkeled all around the island. Hawksnest is great since its so close and an easy walk to the coral beach. Did almost all our food shopping on St Thomas and if you can, do the same. We cooked alot in the unit and only had to get a pot to cook lobster (which we have left for future renters....do try them tasty treats!). Everything was very clean on our arrival and we were met promptly at the ferry dock. Would definitely recommend and hope to return ourselves!"
