  • Nice stay.

"My wife and I were looking for an inexpensive place that would hold us and possibly a daughter or three if they decided to come down. Blue Wrasse fit the bill. Take a close look at the posted pictures. They are pretty much spot on as to what you are getting. The main floor of the cottage is one room (probably 16x16 or 20x20) that includes a well stocked kitchen, a pretty comfortable couch, a small two chair dining "bar", a small HDTV with cable and wi-fi, door to the outdoor screened-in toilet/shower room, front door to the screened-in porch, and the ladder up to the small loft. The outdoor screened-in toilet/shower room included a sink with small mirror, full size toilet, and a shower area just outside the door back into the house. The area would be small/cramped if more than two or three people are staying at once. The small loft above the main floor is reached by a ladder in the corner of the main room by the bathroom door and includes what we thought was a king sized mattress on the floor of the loft. I think now it was a twin sized mattress against the wall and a twin sized box spring on the open side of the loft. I never took the time to pick up the open side "mattress" to confirm but there was a definite difference in firmness from one side to the other. The ceiling in the loft is low so watch your head getting into and out of bed. The ladder can be a bit tricky as well. We slept in the loft all nights except the first night (see below for reason). The provided fan, along with the AC was perfect for sleeping. The main bedroom is reached by going out of the main room, through the screened-in porch, then out on the deck and down a flight of stairs. The main bedroom is build below the main room. This room included a queen sized bed (comfortable), a 6 drawer chest, a small child-size bed, and a small refrigerator. We slept in this room the first night, but the AC unit was so loud that we could not sleep when the condenser kicked on. Not sure if the unit is going bad, or the noise is just a product of the installation method, but it was beyond loud. It could be heard upstairs when running as well. We counted 110 steps from parking area to the screen door of the cottage. Made that up/down 2 or 3 times a day. My only complaint was the loud AC in the main bedroom. Includes beach chairs and a small cooler. Bring or rent snorkel gear - has some but... Purchase gallon jugs of drinking water. Grill works perfectly."

  • "Memories for Days"

"When your looking for the perfect vacation for family and friends the first thing you do is read reviews and even when your writing one of your own. After reading some I don't think it's necessary for me to bore folks with a list of pro's and con's but rather try to relay to whomever is reading and looking...don't try to hard because you've found it here at Vida de Mar. We stayed here with one other couple after spending "Magical" week on a Yacht in the BVI's which in itself is a dream come true vacation. We were fortunate enough to spend another week in this beautiful beach front Villa and it will stay in my thoughts the rest of my days. Vida is quiet and private yet close to town and is everything you'd expect from a first class vacation stay. Our room was "Parrot Suite" It was beautifully decorated and a "cool retreat" with an amazing outdoor shower and a perfect place for a good nap...a sound sleep...or just some personal time after a day of exploring the Island or relaxing on a killer beach or dancing the night away at funky beach bars and restaurants. We really had everything we desired with all the comforts of home and if there was a con I really can't remember what it was. personally I spent many hours floating in the pool or relaxing in the "Zen Spa" with a cocktail listening to Island music or the waves below and cooking up something freshly caught from town on the Barbie... What a life!! I believe no matter how many folks you choose to come here with, you will enjoy the sanctuary of your room...the modern and tastefully decorated "great room" for your time and gatherings and the overall layout of this Villa. Booking was easy...the price was right..and these folks want you to have your dream vacation. you can tell my wife and I had the vacation of a lifetime with great friends and "Memories for Days" We have not stopped talking about it since we returned home to Carmel, CA and now we just need to figure out how to return as soon as we can with more friends. I would not hesitate to choose Vida has the Island flavor you are dreaming about."

  • Great Place

"I should start the review with the negative because there isn’t much. The “town” of Coral Bay is not really a town, but a few widely spaced shops and bars. This is not a problem; just don’t expect to wander through town at night. The other item is even thought the roads on St John are exciting they have nothing on the driveway into Island Horizons. Most of it is paved, but it is easily steeper than anything else I have ever driven on. The house did have a nice flat place to park which helped. For the good: The house was lovely, very clean, comfortable, and stocked with anything we could need. However that was all lost in the truly outstanding feature of the house and that was the view. One of my favorite parts of the day was sitting up on the porch watching the light change over the ocean and the islands. You can easily see down the whole BVI chain. It was outstanding. I think my teenage daughter took half her pictures from the holiday off the porch. After a hard day of hiking or snorkeling there is something to be said for mixing yourself a Pain Killer and stretching out on a lounge chair or the hammock to watch the lights on the islands slowly turn on."

  • Grand Bay

"This was an amazing vacation! The Grand Bay condo was perfect! Location is ideal, everything needed is available, and the view is breathtaking. The only suggestion for a more comfortable stay would be an upgrade in the mattress. After a long day in the sun, a comfortable bed is nice. Great trip!"
