  • If You Could Only Bottle This Breeze

"I am sadly writing this on the drive back to Connecticut. Bay House was truly lovely. It was our 3rd time visiting St John and first time renting this particular villa. The view of Coral Bay is arresting and you have opportunities throughout the villa to experience it from the balconies. The rooms are painted blue and white - very soothing. The beds were quite comfy and we arrived to beautifully arranged linen in both rooms, fresh flowers in the kitchen window and on the dining table. The kitchen was well-appointed with everything you need, including a grill right on the deck. I love tiled flooring and the villa is tiled throughout. Our 3- and 6-year old sons loved coming back from the beach to play in the pool, play the checkers set that was there, and looking out for goats! Pristine beaches were a cool 20 minutes drive away - our faves are Maho, Jumbie, and a worthwhile trail hike to Leinester. Right at the bottom of the villa is the Crabby Shack where my hubby was able to rent a kayak and take our 6-year old out for $30 for 2 hours. Excellent experience. Then 6-minutes from the villa is Carolina's Corral where I was able to take our 3-year old for a 45-minute donkey ride for $25 - he was ecstatic! Fave restaurant in Coral Bay is Miss Lucy's - 15 minutes up on the same main road as the villa. Faves in Cruz Bay - Across the Street ( wonderful fish tacos and onion rings & drinks!!) and Ocean Grill in Mongoose Grill - wonderful everything!! The most beautiful part of our weeklong stay at Bay House was the incomparable sea breeze we got - we never used the AC. Between the view and the breeze - it was divine. Terry, the property manager was gracious and patient as we endured a 2-hour Budget rental car fiasco and met us when we eventually got to our meet up point for her to guide us to the villa. She was the tight balance of attentive and responsive without being intrusive. Thank you!!"

  • A private, remarkable sanctuary!

"The drive from Cruz Bay to the villa is roughly 45min on windy roads but the villa greeter is fantastic and the drive is beautiful. If you want seclusion and untouched beauty this villa and location are for you. If you want local bars you can walk to and a grocery store 5 min away, this is not for you. The Villa is even more breathtaking than the pictures, which I didn't think would be possible. It is very calm and quiet with only maybe 4 other houses on Dreeket's Bay Road. The driveway as mentioned is very steep but completely manageable and if you aren't comfortable with it you can easily park at the top of the driveway and walk down. We traveled with another couple (so all four of us are between 39-45 yrs old). It was intended to be a quiet adult vacation (though the villa is great for kids as well as the pool is large enough and they provide some water and sand toys). My husband and I stayed in the POD and it was fantastic while our friends stayed in the upstairs bedroom in the house. The beds were all comfortable and the AC worked very well. The kitchen is fantastic (could use a few more pieces of silverware) and the view while cooking is tremendous. You can use the remote to hide the TV so the windows aren't obstructed, which we promptly did upon arrival and never brought it back up. Outdoor space was devine! Just below the villa (by car - 2 minutes) is a path you can take to get to Haulover Bay. You can snorkel there and if you have a keen eye, from the driveway you can see turtles swimming in that bay. There is fresh conch there and the coral is untouched. Love City Grocery store is about 10min away and has all you could need for a quick grocery trip however it is a little "rough" looking from the outside. Fortunately Calabash Market opened in Nov 2013 and is very clean and more visually appealing. Love City was fine and we purchased from there but we preferred to go a little bit further (another 5min toward Salt Pond) to restock. In Cruz Bay is the only gas station and they have a great market - Starfish market is expansive and super clean/modern. We tried a few restaurants: Aqua Bistro, Shipwreck Landing and Chateau Bordeaux. Chateau Bordeaux was hands down our favorite (a shout out to Lorelei and Neshell!) We also had one "fancy" dinner out at Zozo's in Caneel Bay. Very nice, great ambiance (expensive though but you're on vacation!). In the end it was all we dreamed it would be! Thank you Andy and Dara!"

  • Perfect Villa!

"My husband and I stayed in Bob and Anne's villa for two weeks and were very impressed! Bob and Anne were wonderful hosts and we could not have asked for better accomadations. The Northshore is a mere 5 minutes away and Skinny Legs is a short drive away in Coral Bay. We already knew the island very well so the privacy was perfect! I would highly recommend booking Paradise on the Rocks! Thank you Bob and Anne and we will be back:)"

  • Perfect Place for Family of Four

"My family just came back from a wonderful vacation in St. John. Aside from the beaches being gorgeous, this house was perfect for our needs. The photos accurately represent what is offered. The place is extremely clean, well stocked with the basic necessities like paper towel, toilet paper, dish towels, etc. and then they owners to out of their way with nice surprises like OJ, milk, etc. to get you started the first day. They also supplied nice beach chairs, beach toys, towels and coolers. The owners (Terry and Tom) were very responsive to our needs when we needed help with the internet and coffee maker. The couples lives really close to the property and is there to answer any questions you that arise. My husband and I hiked the trails every day from the house. The views from the deck are beautiful (you can see St. Croix way off) and the pool area is great for sunning and reading. The drive in town is approximately 6-7 minutes. Once we mastered driving on the hand side of the road . . .getting into town was easy. The owners gave us some good tips on where what beaches to see and what hikes to do. You will hear roosters in the morning . . .as we slept with the windows open - so be prepared to be awake early or sleep with windows shut. We ate out at Cafe Rosa (really good), the Ocean Grill (mongoose junction - pricey but good) and the restaurant right across frmo the ferry - all very good. I would NOT recommend Morgan's Mango - wait staff was indifferent - and they were out of everything. Overall our vacation could not have been better. Loved the house and would stay here again - by the way ages of our kids - 5 and 12 . . . ."
