  • Sapphire Condo Rental

"The unit was nice and the location being near the Ferry in Red Hook for day trips to St Johns Island was great. Great views. Nice water. Unit owner was pleasant and easy to work with. On the down side, we had to send a reminder to get our mid-week unit cleaning service and the balcony which was very nice in general had a wood lattice above the door full of mold growth and the above unit sweep a bunch on sand down on our balcony."

  • Mostly Wonderful, Some Not-so-wonderful

"I've been trying to think about how to review this condo, and I think a list of pros and cons might be easiest: Pros: The view - amazing. From the back veranda, you could see some gorgeous water, as well as St. John (if you walked a few feet down the beach). The beach - quiet and beautiful; at times, it felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves, which was cool. Very clean and maintained. The decor - very modern, updated, trendy. The cabana bar - lordy, those women could make some rum punch. I mean, one would do ya just fine. Some were working on island time, but they made up for it with that rum pour. The critters - my hubby and I really enjoyed the iguanas and little lizards and hermit crabs, as well as some cute little leopard-print ducks. We're big animal lovers, so it was neat to see some new faces. Cons: I think that the condo itself (and its furniture and fixtures) could stand a once-over and here's why: Within an hour of arriving, I found myself locked in the bathroom. My husband used the bathroom before me and said the door didn't shut completely, so it swung open mid-stream, shall we say. Well, I'm not so brilliant, so I gave the door a firm shove when I went in (I didn't know about his door experience yet) and... it stuck. I believe the pin that goes from the knob into the door frame itself jammed up or broke completely. I had to remove the doorknob from the inside with a knife and a screwdriver that the very nice maintenance man passed me under the door. We spent the remainder of our honeymoon without a bathroom doorknob. I'll just say - it sucked. Could have been much worse, but still sucked. My hubby, who weighs all of 165 lbs, was sitting in a wooden chair on the back patio area a couple nights before we left and it actually split apart and dumped him onto the ground. It looks like it's happened before because there was already a small wooden piece of the back missing. We were able to fit the pegs back together and it was intact again, although we didn't sit in it for the remainder of our trip. Bottom line, the view and beach is fantastic but I think this place really needs some routine maintenance. As it stood, with the bathroom and the chair incident, it rates a solid 'good'. I would definitely consider returning, but suggest the owners visit first and make a few improvements."

  • priced perfectly

"perfect location, huge patio us only, sooooo close to the beach and snorkel! plenty of room for our 2 adults and 3 kids. True 2 bedrooms unlike other condos. Yes, interior/electronics are dated, but, we didn't expect high end resort amenities anyway. And it was priced as so. How much time do you stay in a room on a beach vacation? we just used it to sleep and cook and shower. Internet was slpotchy, however, AT&T smart phone service was great."

  • Absolutely perfect place!

"This was the perfect place for our family get together. We also rented unit 205 right next door which could be connected by opening up the patio doors. This made for a great set up. We definitely wanted Sapphire Beach but there were 6 of us and not many places that would accommodate all of us and we wanted to be close. A king bed and pull out couch in both places, and we had plenty of room. The views are amazing and loved being so close to the beach and pool. We have gone on many beach vacations and this is the perfect place if you like being close to the water. Great snorkeling. Close to Red Hook and good restaurants. Went to St John twice, we rented a car and took the ferry. We enjoyed having our own car so we could come and go as we wanted. It was nice having a car in St John. I cannot say enough about this place. It was clean, staff was friendly and we have absolutely no complaints. You cannot go wrong with renting this place. You will not be disappointed."
