  • Best Vacation Ever

"My apologies for taking so long to write this review but the delay is no reflection of our experience. I must admit that when looking at the pictures on VRBO I wondered if any of the pictures had been photo shopped. After all, could the view from the patio really be so beautiful and the ocean so close? Let me tell you that the pictures are 100% authentic. The unit was exactly as pictured and described. It had everything you could ask for. It was the perfect amount of space for my husband and I. Everyone we encountered at Sapphire Beach was so warm and friendly. I personally enjoyed the proximity of the condo to the Banana Cabana where I could get a Tropical Explosion cocktail every day. Even though the pool restaurant was closed for renovation, the pool is open. I loved to relax by the pool watching the boats go in and out of the marinas. It was also a wonderful place to watch the St John 4th of July fireworks. The actual beach at Sapphire is gorgeous too. We particularly enjoyed the trees so we could get out of the sun. My husband did lots of snorkeling in the area right in front of the unit. Red Hook is a 5 minute drive away. Lots of great restaurants and shops there. We had a great time at the Tree Limin Zipline on St Thomas. I was a bit concerned since we are generally a couple of couch potatoes but it was a great experience. The guides are lots of fun but also very safety conscious. We also took the car ferry over to St John for a day. More beautiful beaches, yummy food and shopping. This was our third trip to St Thomas but previously we had stayed at Secret Harbor. I have nothing negative to say about SH but we have already decided that we will stay at this same unit at Sapphire Beach during our next trip. Chuy was always quick to respond to emails before, during and after our vacation. I especially want to thank him for being so gracious when we had to reschedule our trip at the last minute due to a medical emergency."

  • Beautiful view, comfortable home

"There were six of us, 2 seniors, 2 40's and 7 and 5 year old boys. This home had very few steps, which is saying something since it is on a hill. It is very quiet and has a wonderful breeze all the time. The kitchen is very complete. The owners provide beach chairs, towels and snorkel gear. It is convenient to Red Hook Restaurants and several beaches on the east end."

  • Fun, clean, safe

"My husband and I stayed at Tom's condo for our honeymoon. Tom is exceptionally friendly and helpful, as well as easy to communicate with. The condo was clean and air-conditioned when we arrived. The kitchen was stocked with filtered water, coffee & filters, ice cubes, and RUM! The whole condo is comfortaable - clean bathroom with nice shower, comfortable and king-sized bed, comfortable living area. It's great for couples. The couch is comfy, but the pull-out bed is rough - I wouldn't have anyone sleep on it. The pool is right next to the unit, along with the friendly and tasty Sapphire Bar and Grill. The Marina is right in front of the complex (we highly recommend sailing with Nightwind chartered sails). Sapphire beach is a longer walk, but easy enough to get to. Its an excellent and clean beach with great snorkeling."

  • Perfect, Perfect, Perfect!!!

"This villa is clean, comfortable and has everything you need for a perfect vacation; it's private, quiet, great beds, well stocked kitchen, private pool, beach towels and chairs and the best view you will find from both the inside and outside. It is close to Red Hook and everything you may want to see and/or do. The outdoor area with the deck, pool, bar and grill are perfect for having relaxing days. We spent several days just lounging around on the deck; grilling, swimming and watching the boats go by. We had 2 couples and my brother has stage 4 lung cancer and is on oxygen. Although there were a few stairs getting down to the villa, he didn't really have trouble and was able to enjoy the deck and outdoor space. There were plenty of outdoor chairs and loungers to use, along with an outdoor dining set. The owners were quick to respond to our inquiries and were extremely helpful. Due to weather delays, our flight arrived about 10:30 pm instead of 2:00 pm. Although good directions were provided, given the late hour and long day we had, we had trouble finding the villa and had to call the owners for help. Although it was after midnight and I hated to call them that late, they answered the phone quickly and happily helped us. I can't imagine finding a better place on the island to spend your vacation. It was perfect!!"

East End Travel Tips

Situated just east of Puerto Rico, the small Caribbean Island of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands is known for its beautiful beaches, shopping and dining. The quieter East End area makes a pleasant contrast with the busy capital and port of Charlotte Amalie. The quiet town of Red Hook with its red-tiled homes overlooking Pillsbury Sound has a relaxed atmosphere, uncrowded beaches and spectacular dive sites. Along the streets of this charming town, the Havensight Mall offers great Caribbean wares at duty-free prices and there is a surprisingly vibrant nightlife after dark. Red Hook lodging is a great place to find a cold drink, casual dining and party music.

Enjoy Staying at East End St. Thomas Vacation Rentals

While some parts of St. Thomas offer only five-star hotels, the East End is much more relaxed and laid-back. It is the perfect place to rent a vacation rental home and live the island life. Vacation rentals are well located within easy reach of the local beaches and often have great views. Choose a small private villa or share the cost with family and friends and book one of the larger villas, often with their own swimming pool, terrace or gardens. The charming East End town of Red Hook has plenty of supermarkets to stock up on food and drink. There are also many local restaurants for those who do not want to cook. East End vacation rentals are the perfect ways to experience the more intimate side of Caribbean living.

During the day, most visitors head for the beach. Relax in the sunshine and swim in the crystal-clear water on one of the beaches below the town of Red Hook. Pillsbury Sound on St. Thomas’s East end is one of the best areas for active watersports with snorkeling, scuba diving, windsurfing and deep sea fishing. Coral World Ocean park offers a great day out. It has more than 150,000 gallons of aquariums and the Underwater Observatory gives great views of coral reefs and brightly colored fish.

The rocky trails around Vessup Bay are popular with hikers. You can also take a stroll along the water’s edge at Secret Harbor Beach. Golf, boating, parasailing, snorkeling, diving and horseback riding are all available or you can visit a local beauty spa for a day of pampering.
