  • The relaxing getaway we were looking for

"My husband and I spent a week here and can't wait to plan our next visit! Starting your day with coffee on the porch with the most amazing views was easy to get used to. The apartment was well furnished, with everything we could possibly need. You won't find a better view in Red Hook. The walk down the hill to town wasn't too bad at all. You are so close to lots of restaurants, but I definitely recommend renting a car. We spent a lot of time at Sapphire beach, which was a 5 minute drive away and a relatively quiet beach. You have to book a sailing trip with Max, because it is hands down the best thing you can do on your visit. We spent our mornings and evenings on the porch taking in the views and enjoying the company of Eva, the resident pup. The bird watching from Lion's Gate is pretty good also. Anything we needed, Max helped us with right away. We are already anticipating our next visit, it is absolutely a slice of paradise at Lion's Gate, you won't be disappointed."

  • Amazing property, amazing views!!!

"My husband and I rented this villa while we were in St. Thomas for our destination wedding. We thought this would be a nice getaway for both of our families (who had never met each other before the trip) to get to know each other in a relaxed setting. The photos online looked amazing, but in person, the property was simply beautiful. From the start, the owner, Joanne, was very responsive and flexible. Her property manager gave us detailed information before we arrived and one of her staff met us when we landed and guided us to the house (super helpful!!). The location was perfect for us, 5 minutes from Red Hook (shops, restaurants and grocery store) and 5 minutes from Lindquist Beach where we had our wedding ceremony. The villa was spotless and a fruit basket and bottle of rum awaited us in the kitchen which was well-equipped; this was a relief because we cooked most of our meals. Joanne also allowed us to have a small meet-and-greet at the villa and all of our guests loved the home and wished they could have stayed there with us. The large outdoor patio, grill, stocked bar, and indoor/outdoor music system were perfect for hosting our gathering. Our families liked that the home was big enough that they could hang out wherever they wanted but the common areas felt homey enough for when we spent time together. Watching the sunset down at the jetty in the evenings was relaxing and we enjoyed the gardens as well. We tried a little snorkeling but there weren't enough goggles and the snorkels leaked water (maybe an upgrade is in order?). The only downside to our visit was that the infinity feature on the pool wasn't working. We were told that someone would come by during our stay to fix it but that didn't happen. The water level also ran low but the landscaper added water when he visited. We got to chatting with him and learned that the Bay Rum leaf (which is grown on the property), when broken, helps to ward off mosquitoes (great for those who don't like spraying on repellent)!! Regardless, we enjoyed the pool for several hours each day. All in all, we had an amazing time and we were definitely more relaxed on our wedding day than if we had stayed at a resort. I would do it all over again, without hesitation. Thank you, Joanne (and staff) for making our first trip to St. Thomas such an enjoyable experience!"

  • Awesome Condo, Awesome Island

"First off, the owner Annette could not have been more communicative than she was. We booked our condo in February and she continued to stay in touch on a regular basis up to the time of our departure answering questions about the condo, but also about where to eat, what to see, etc. Once we got there no problems at all getting into the condo, and it is exactly as described, if not better. Views are spectacular and condo really is feet from the ocean. As to St Thomas if you have not been here before is a great, beautiful island. One thing we certainly found out that they are not known for is road signs. I highly recommend that you bring a GPS, as I can't imagine getting around and finding places, including getting to the condo from the airport, without one. Driving on the left really was no big deal, and really was easy to get use to. As for food, plenty of decent places to eat, never really found any exceptional places, but we did like Latitude 18, which is hard to find, and the best place to eat on the island is at the top of the hill from the condo called Off the Grid, which is a food truck. Red hook is very close and has restaurants, gas stations, the ferry to St John, etc. Several grocery stores, but what we found that was really nice and had basically everything we needed was Moe's, which is in the middle of Red Hook, just a little bit higher, but was much nicer and the staff was really friendly. If you like to snorkel, actually Sapphire Beach was the best we found on St Thomas (some great snorkeling places on St John though). We went to many of the beaches on St Thomas, but really liked Coki beach as a fun place to hang out. Not sure what else to tell you except, what are you waiting for!! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, plus I left a comments on Trip Advisor also."

  • affordable comfort on st. thomas!

"my wife and i needed a reasonably-priced place to stay for a few nights while on the island for my brother's wedding and we could not have asked for a better place- it was super close to where we wanted to be, yet quiet and very comfortable. ken and charmagne met us when we arrived and couldn't have been more friendly. they showed us around and gave us the keys, then left us to relax and get refreshed after our long plane flight. plenty of space, with lots of towels, a fully-loaded kitchen and a comfortable bed, we highly recommend you make arrangements to stay here for your next trip to the island!"
