  • Wonderful!

"We were a group of 16 who rented 5 condos at Sapphire Beach Resort. We rented both of Sheila's condos that are next to each other. It was so nice to open up the patio between the two to make a large area that many nights our full group would hang out. The condos were perfect and had everything that we needed for our stay. To wake up to the view each morning was heavenly and the beach was great. We ate at Fish Tails, Caribbean Fish Market, Sunset Grille and Oceana and all were very good. Sheila answered tons of my questions in a timely manner and gave me great information that I used throughout our trip. She really does care that you have a good time on vacation. Thanks Sheila, and I hope we can come back soon!"

  • GREAT PLACE TO STAY

"This is the second time we stayed here, it is better than the photos show. Annette is very easy to deal with and her property manger Kathleen knows great places to to see on the island."

  • Mostly Wonderful, Some Not-so-wonderful

"I've been trying to think about how to review this condo, and I think a list of pros and cons might be easiest: Pros: The view - amazing. From the back veranda, you could see some gorgeous water, as well as St. John (if you walked a few feet down the beach). The beach - quiet and beautiful; at times, it felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves, which was cool. Very clean and maintained. The decor - very modern, updated, trendy. The cabana bar - lordy, those women could make some rum punch. I mean, one would do ya just fine. Some were working on island time, but they made up for it with that rum pour. The critters - my hubby and I really enjoyed the iguanas and little lizards and hermit crabs, as well as some cute little leopard-print ducks. We're big animal lovers, so it was neat to see some new faces. Cons: I think that the condo itself (and its furniture and fixtures) could stand a once-over and here's why: Within an hour of arriving, I found myself locked in the bathroom. My husband used the bathroom before me and said the door didn't shut completely, so it swung open mid-stream, shall we say. Well, I'm not so brilliant, so I gave the door a firm shove when I went in (I didn't know about his door experience yet) and... it stuck. I believe the pin that goes from the knob into the door frame itself jammed up or broke completely. I had to remove the doorknob from the inside with a knife and a screwdriver that the very nice maintenance man passed me under the door. We spent the remainder of our honeymoon without a bathroom doorknob. I'll just say - it sucked. Could have been much worse, but still sucked. My hubby, who weighs all of 165 lbs, was sitting in a wooden chair on the back patio area a couple nights before we left and it actually split apart and dumped him onto the ground. It looks like it's happened before because there was already a small wooden piece of the back missing. We were able to fit the pegs back together and it was intact again, although we didn't sit in it for the remainder of our trip. Bottom line, the view and beach is fantastic but I think this place really needs some routine maintenance. As it stood, with the bathroom and the chair incident, it rates a solid 'good'. I would definitely consider returning, but suggest the owners visit first and make a few improvements."

  • Couldn't ask for anything more!

"Not only is Pete great but his condo is FANTASTIC! It is wonderfully decorated, fully renovated, clean, absolutely beautiful and relaxing. Step off the back deck and you are on the beach, directly in front of the pool. He has EVERYTHING you could imagine, from gourmet cooking utensils/pots/spices to beach toys. I have no intention of staying anywhere else when I am in STT. My aunt was staying at a separate condo at Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina, she basically stated she would be renting from Pete from now on. Thank you, Pete, for helping to make my short, yet eventful vacay a great one! Also, the manager, Kathleen, is the sweetest person."

East End Travel Tips

Situated just east of Puerto Rico, the small Caribbean Island of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands is known for its beautiful beaches, shopping and dining. The quieter East End area makes a pleasant contrast with the busy capital and port of Charlotte Amalie. The quiet town of Red Hook with its red-tiled homes overlooking Pillsbury Sound has a relaxed atmosphere, uncrowded beaches and spectacular dive sites. Along the streets of this charming town, the Havensight Mall offers great Caribbean wares at duty-free prices and there is a surprisingly vibrant nightlife after dark. Red Hook lodging is a great place to find a cold drink, casual dining and party music.
