  • A Jewel: the island and the property

"We have sojourned three different winters here at Sapphire Beach West (SBW) and have dealt with the same family/owners. Tom B. is the most efficient, helpful, knowledgeable, affable and dependable and owner/renter we have ever had the pleasure of renting from in all of our years of travel and using VRBO rentals. This association has been the fundamental reason we have kept returning. This is not to diminish one bit the perfection of the location and place out here at (SBW). We feel that the beautiful views seen from and around SBW, the quietness of the place, the maintenance of the picturesque grounds and the properties, themselves make SBW exceptional. We've driven all over the island and in our view, do not think there is a better choice available for a stay of a week or more. Charlotte Amalie is easily reachable and though traffic can be often tied up, it's never for long and there are always sights to enjoy (truly) while you wait to start moving again. Only once have we ever witnessed any road-warrior rage and that was two locals upset with the driving of another local in town. Traffic moves slowly but with everyone sharing and giving way at intersections and at parking lots and traffic lights the "island" pace is, dare I say, enjoyable. I love the use of American cars with the steering on the left which puts one's edge-of-the-road right there giving the opposing traffic as much room as the roads allow. We have, in our visits, found a delightful coffee shop/internet café outside of which to while away an hour or more reading in the coolness of the porch's shading tropical trees. Though close to the cruise ship madness of Havenside, those tourists seem almost unaware of this perfect spot to relax. The place? Don't overlook The Barefoot Buddha when you're in town and looking for great coffee flavors, fresh baked goods, relative quiet and coolness during the tropical day. And, too, Tom has yet to include the Frenchtown Rock among his recommended dining places. It's new, great selection of authentic Jamaican/Caribbean dishes. Just one block north of the Dronningens Gade main drag, at Bakery Square. They close at 6 PM. We highly recommend the place for an early dinner where we ate twice this year. So much to say-all positive, about the island but most of all Tom's two places here at SBW especially for the 55+."

  • Sapphire Dreams

"We stayed at Sapphire Dreams 2/15/15 - 2/18/15. LeeAnn was very helpful and easy to work with throughout the reservation process, and provided helpful information about St Thomas. Sapphire Dreams was exactly as pictured, and very spacious and comfortable, loved the blues and greens. The views from both decks were beautiful! Just a note, if neighbors were on their deck you can't see them but can hear them very clearly. Very nice beach for walking and lounging and swimming. We ate most meals in the Condo, grocery store fairly close by car, near RedHook. Kitchen had everything we needed. Pool didn't seem to be in operation, but with the Ocean right there it didn't matter. Had two bathrooms and showers which was nice. Would definitely stay here again when visiting St. Thomas."

  • Great Condo in a Great Location

"This was my wife and my third time to St Thomas, and this condo was one of the best places we've stayed. It has a beautiful wrap around deck, which we wound up spending many morning and evenings on. The bed was fantastic, and being able to cook a nice dinner in the kitchen was great! Location is prime as you can more or less walk to coki beach, and red hook is just short ride away for ferry service to the other islands, and some late night revelry. Point pleasant is also nicely laid out as the condo feels quite private despite the other units, there are also three different pools to chose from if one is too crowded (though we never experienced a crowded pool area)."

  • Phenomenal setting!

"This condo could not be better situated. Directly out the front door is a little grass lawn, then a perfect beach, then turquoise water and beautiful scenery. We were blown away by the view of Saint John and the BVIs across the bay. There is decent snorkeling right off the beach. The waves and undertow are minimal - a big plus if you have little kids with you. Even on the big cruise ship days, the beach was never too crowded - plenty of chairs and space for everyone. If terrific location is your goal, you have found your ideal. We were there in late March, a family of 3 adults and 2 little children, 2 and 4. The condo has a perfect set up for a family. For us, having an upstairs bedroom for the kids was a huge plus - we wanted to be confident they were close to us and far from the front door at night! The condo is large enough that there is plenty of space to spread out and get some privacy. There is nothing fancy about the condo - furnishings are pretty minimal and a bit scruffy. Only negative - we were not able to get internet from the condo at all. We tried from every room, but were never able to connect. Luckily mobiles worked fine. If wifi is not a huge concern and you dont need upscale furnishings, I'm sure you will agree this place is a little slice of heaven!"
