  • Has to be one of the best views on the St Thomas

"We were looking for a relaxing vacation with a great view. Papaya Ridge meet all those requirements and more. The Villa is near the end of a quiet road which provided privacy and tranquility. The unit is set up exactly as shown on their web site. We spend hours on the deck each day soaking up the sun and looking at the passing boats, turtles, fish and distant islands. We rented a car for the week (a car is a must because of the Villa location) and explored St Thomas and went snorkeling at many of the beaches. We even took the car ferry over to St Johns for some lunch and snorkeling at Salt Pond Bay (Best of the trip). The many close restaurants, to include Latitude 18, gave us the casual "island" meals we desired. The owners were awesome and answered all our questions before and after we arrived to include the best places to eat and shop. We are already talking about going back."

  • Amazing property and fantastic vacation

"This was such an amazing property and even better than advertised. We had a family vacation of 11 members and we all enjoyed the multi-level house with many different amenities. The house offered many fun activities right on the property. The house was close to lots of fun island entertainment and easy to access to and from the ferry. The care takers of the property went over and above to help us have a successful vacation. We will definitely come back next year. Thanks for letting us enjoy your home."

  • One week in Paradise!

"I just returned from a wonderful stay in this condo with my two sisters. It was easy to get to from the airport. About a 20 minute taxi ride for $15.00. I liked this unit because there are no stairs to climb to get to the pool and parking area, as there are for units on the lower and upper floors. The condo was well appointed with plenty of beach towels, sheets/blankets and cooking utensils. Nicely decorated in tropical colors. We enjoyed having our morning coffee, catching up with emails on the balcony, looking out on a spectacular view of the marina and surrounding islands. The lower pool area has a restaurant with live music at night. Plenty of good restaurants/bars in red hook, which is just a short walk away. We took the ferry over to St. John from Red Hook a couple of days. I highly recommending doing that. The beach in front of the complex has some good snorkeling and plenty of lounge chairs. I would also recommend going out on one of the charter boats offered in the marina. Either the day tour of the BVIs or the dinner cruise. I look forward to another relaxing stay in this condo!"

  • Wish we were still there!

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Far Niente in January 2015. We were a family of four including two adult children. The description and photos matched the reality we found. While parts of the Sapphire Beach resort are in various stages of remodeling, this villa looked fresh and new and was very nicely decorated. The view from the decks is breathtaking at times, with sunrises and moonrises over St. John and the BVI a special highlight, not to mention the many shades of blue in the water directly in front of the villa with coral reefs all around. We enjoyed other beaches on St. Thomas but we thought the sandy part of Sapphire was the best beach for swimming and snorkeling. An added bonus of staying at Villa Far Niente was that Mike provided complete sets of snorkeling gear and recommendations on good viewing spots (we did see turtles and rays right where he said to look). The Banana Cabana offered wonderful drinks right off the beach and it is well worth the walk up the hill to the Off the Grid barbecue truck for excellent food and beautiful views from their picnic tables. Mike’s package of information which we received ahead of our stay was extremely helpful in our planning for our week at Sapphire Beach. His restaurant recommendations are excellent though truth be told we ended up going to Latitude 18 for three meals during our week due to the laid back environment and great music. Not an easy drive but not as daunting as some folks make it out to be. The passenger and auto ferries to St. John are very close by in Red Hook (though sadly not walkable due to lack of sidewalks and dangerous traffic!) and a trip over there is worth taking. The auto ferry in particular offers an adventure right from the start with the free for all loading process where you back on to the ferry! Once on St. John the adventure continues as the narrow and hilly roads lead you to a number of beautiful beaches—but be careful of wandering cows and sheep in the road! We recommend Salt Pond Bay for swimming and snorkeling and the walk out to Drunken Bay for the view (no swimming there—very rough). As mentioned, Red Hook is close by and if you don’t have a car or don’t want to drive there are cabs available right at the resort. Lots of good restaurants and bars there, with Duffy’s Love Shack worth a visit for fun drinks and a laid back atmosphere. Overall a wonderful experience and we can’t wait to go back!"
