  • Your search ends here! This house is amazing.

"My family of four (including 13- and 9-year olds) enjoyed a blissful week-long stay at Villa Papillon. Hosts Linda and Mike are very friendly and informative, and happy to help with advice and recommendations. They are close by, so you don't have to worry about inattentive or nonexistent homeowners not returning phone calls. But they will offer you your privacy. Linda cheerfully met us at a supermarket after we stocked up on supplies, and drove us through the twists and turns (and inclines!) of the roads on the mountains of St. Thomas. The gorgeous home is located in a gated community in Peterborg, which is on the peninsula that encloses Magen's Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world (5 minutes away - no exaggeration). She and Mike have maintained the property nicely: the beauty of the views can not be overstated. The home is just like the pictures, perhaps even more beautiful because you cannot appreciate the comfortable layout in the photos. The home is remote and peaceful, and we didn't hear or even see neighbors unless we took out the binoculars. We grilled every day while still being able to be together in the pool/hot tub area on deck. We found a well-stocked kitchen with top of the line appliances. Beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms, though a bit dated, were clean and very functional with ample storage. The home is decorated like a real home, not like a soulless rental. We went to Magen's Bay almost every day (we swam with a giant turtle there), but also made trips to Sapphire and Coki bays for better snorkeling. Be aware: parking is sketchy at Coki, and the surrounding areas are sort of rundown. But fish and coral are plentiful. When we return to USVI, we will stay here again. We didn't even have to worry about mosquitos- the gentle breezes keep them away. Thanks LInda and Mike for a wonderful week!"

  • Quiet luxury with AMAZING views

"Our family of four stayed here over spring break and had a fantastic time. The house is beautiful. Very clean and spacious with stunning views. The pool is larger than it appears in the photos and allowed for many games of "marco polo" among the four of us. After a day sightseeing on St. Thomas or St. John, it was SO relaxing to come back to our own private house & pool. We will (hopefully) be back!"

  • Wonderful Place - Best Hosts Ever!

"We just stayed for 12 days at this fabulous mountain top getaway. Every word in the description of the property is exactly what you get; - the bonus is, you get the sweetest hosts you will ever meet! Cindie picked me up at the airport after a glitch with the rental car and I got an insiders' insight of life on the island. She drove me to the grocery store so I could get more groceries and things I would need until my husband arrived the next evening! How many owners would go out of their way to help you like that? It made me feel very cared for and special! I think it was the attention to detail that impressed me the most. Whenever we had questions or needed help - they responded immediately. I loved that they took care of breakfast for us the first morning! How thoughtful! After a day of enjoying the beautiful beaches, sailing, snorkeling or shopping it was a quiet place to come back to and unwind. I enjoyed watching the hummingbirds that visited frequently. -The drive up is a little intimidating at first, but after a few days my husband was driving those hills like a pro! (Cindie gives very detailed directions that are extremely helpful). -The beaches we visited were all beautiful! -If you want a great snorkeling/sailing adventure - Use Island Girl Adventures, Captain Mike was wonderful! -Fish Tails in Red Hook was one of our favorite restaurants...best Key Lime Pie ever!"

Northside Travel Tips

Luxurious Northside St. Thomas Vacation Rentals

St. Thomas forms part of the idyllic tropical Virgin Islands in the Caribbean. It's a playground for the rich and famous and you may well find yourself rubbing shoulders with a Hollywood star at one of the island's many night spots. The coastline is dominated by lush tropical foliage which contrasts with the pearlescent white beaches and crystal-clear tropical waters down below.

The vacation rentals on St. Thomas's north side range from spacious two-bedroom condos to expansive homes and villas. Many are located high up on the cliff tops among lush tropical foliage, giving you a sense of seclusion as if you're on your own private island. Follow a winding staircase down to a private sandy beach from where you can swim and snorkel in the warm turquoise waters. The views from the villas are magnificent and you can enjoy many sunsets without having to leave the privacy of your rental home. Tastefully furnished and equipped with most modern conveniences, staying in a vacation rental allows you to enjoy the island without feeling crowded by masses of other tourists.

Getting to and Around Northside St. Thomas

The international airport is located near Red Point on the southwestern side of the island. There are regularly scheduled flights that arrive from the U.S. and most European countries. There is a very reliable inter-island ferry system with two operators offering regularly scheduled departures. If you want to explore independently while on the island, you can rent a scooter, motorbike or bicycle. Taxis are easy to find and fares are charged per person depending on the destination. Taxis are not metered.

Things to see and do Near Northside St. Thomas Resort Rentals

Aside from the beaches, one of St. Thomas's great attractions is its magnificent underwater reefs. The idyllic diving conditions with calm, warm waters and crystal-clear visibility make it a diver's dream come true. There are wrecks, caves, walls, arches, hundreds of tropical reef fish and spectacularly colorful corals. There are several top quality dive centers on the island where you can arrange a diving excursion and rent equipment. If you are not yet a certified diver, this may be the perfect opportunity to get qualified.

If you'd like to explore some of the land-based attractions near Northside St. Thomas villas, take a trip to the Tillet Gardens. Originally a farm, it is now a peaceful garden sanctuary where you can browse the craft stalls for silkscreen prints, paintings, handcrafted enamel jewelry and beautiful candles. At the top of St. Peter Mountain, the highest point on the island, you can enjoy an original banana daiquiri as you take in the view. From an elevation of 1,542 feet, you can look out over Magen's Bay and Drakes Passage.

To visit another great viewpoint, take the Skyride to Paradise Point, a modern aerial cable car that takes you to 700 meters above sea level. There are several historical sites on the island; you can explore the 99 stone steps or visit several old forts and museums which tell of the island's history.
