  • A Must for your stay in St. Thomas

"I just recently returned from a week's stay at Treetops in St. Thomas. Everything was just perfect!! The house is beautiful, spectacular views, clean and has a real open, airy feel. In addition because it's at the end of the road and surrounded by trees it is so private!! You have complete privacy anywhere in the house or around the pool. Just what you would want for a vacation house. Cindie, the property manager is a wealth of knowledge and can give you directors or advice on anything you want or need from details about the house to good restaurants, good beaches or just how to get from point A to point B. The house was very welcoming, clean and fully stocked with everything from all of your kitchen supplies, to beach chairs and towels, coolers and even a washer & dryer to keep the beach towels clean. The beds were very comfortable and even though there is AC in both bedrooms, we never needed it. The house is located on a hill which gives it a continuous breeze cooling the house as well as breathtaking views of the Caribbean Islands from three sides!! The house is pretty centrally located and it didn't take us long to get anywhere we needed to go. Probably easier to have a small SUV or jeep for the road but that is true with many, many roads throughout the Island. With the fully stocked kitchen we had our choice of going out to eat or cooking at home and hanging by the pool. We took advantage one night and had a great BBQ by the pool. At night these adorable little frogs chirp you to sleep. I would highly recommend this property as a vacation spot for anyone who wanted to go to the Island. Cindie even put some preliminary groceries in the fridge for us to get us started (eggs, bread, juice etc.) which was helpful as it took us a few days before we wandered to find a grocery store. All in all I would send anyone I know to stay at this location/house. You won't be disappointed!! I can't wait to go back again and have already booked my next stay on the Island at Treetops with Cindie."

  • Perfect Carribean Getaway!

"My wife and I last month stayed at Secret Gardens for our second time. The first being 9 years ago for our 25th anniversary. This time we brought close friends of ours to repay them for their kindness to my mother while she was alive. It was awesome seeing them walk thru the villa with their iPad taking a video and oohing. I told Werner the owner it was like taking two little kids to Disneyworld! We went out on Werner's 36 ft. boat one day and went to The Soggy Dollar Bottom Bar, Foxy's, and Sandy Spit, where the Corona beer Christmas commercial was shot, awesome day! We've travelled all over the Carribean but St. Thomas and St. John remain our favorite places. World class beaches, beautiful weather, good food and jewelry bargains galore. We strongly recommend Secret Gardens to anyone interested in a true vacation in Paradise!!!"

  • We felt like genuine St. Thomians with our own home on the mountain and a truly fabulous view.

"My husband and I loved our time at Whispering Palms Cottage. We felt like genuine St. Thomians with our own home on the mountain and a truly fabulous view. The wonderful thing about staying at the Cottage on the hills of the North Side is that you are on your own, but you have competent and trustworthy support and guidance nearby from the cottage owners Joanne and Ken. Staying at the Cottage felt safe, private and relaxing and we enjoyed having the comforts of home such as a comfortable and clean bed, fresh linens, clean bathroom and a well appointed clean kitchen. We felt the furnishings were of nice quality and the seating provided and lighting were very nicely placed both indoors and out. Because we rented a Jeep from Discount Car Rental we had the freedom to come and go as we pleased and experience what it was like to actually live and drive on island. We drove all over exploring the island to see what there was to see, such as glorious ocean vistas, residences both extravagant and simple and along the way stopped to visit all the must-see tourist destinations and beaches. We grocery shopped, cooked and had a great home base to head out on our daily adventures from. Top tips for a good time: When Joanne makes a recommendation such as the eating at Sibs on The Mountain, she's speaking with years of experience, so take her good advice. We suggest you definitely pack, and carry with you at all times, sunscreen and bug spray, stay hydrated and remember to always be polite to strangers. Remember to always drive on the left (even when you’re pulling into a parking lot) and adopt the courteous local habit of pausing to letting people into traffic. When you take the car ferry to/from St. John (which is an absolute must do because it’s so great over there) inquire about the schedule for the day, and don’t assume you can catch the last ferry of the day in the last 15 minutes prior to departure to head back to St. Thomas because you might not get a spot and you will be stranded on St. John for the night and miss out on sleeping in your own bed (at the Cottage). Also you don’t have to use the same ferry company over and back, but you will spend more for 2 one way tickets rather than 1 round trip. Overall, relax and have fun on your vacation, you earned it!"

Northside Travel Tips

Luxurious Northside St. Thomas Vacation Rentals

St. Thomas forms part of the idyllic tropical Virgin Islands in the Caribbean. It's a playground for the rich and famous and you may well find yourself rubbing shoulders with a Hollywood star at one of the island's many night spots. The coastline is dominated by lush tropical foliage which contrasts with the pearlescent white beaches and crystal-clear tropical waters down below.

The vacation rentals on St. Thomas's north side range from spacious two-bedroom condos to expansive homes and villas. Many are located high up on the cliff tops among lush tropical foliage, giving you a sense of seclusion as if you're on your own private island. Follow a winding staircase down to a private sandy beach from where you can swim and snorkel in the warm turquoise waters. The views from the villas are magnificent and you can enjoy many sunsets without having to leave the privacy of your rental home. Tastefully furnished and equipped with most modern conveniences, staying in a vacation rental allows you to enjoy the island without feeling crowded by masses of other tourists.

Getting to and Around Northside St. Thomas

The international airport is located near Red Point on the southwestern side of the island. There are regularly scheduled flights that arrive from the U.S. and most European countries. Bus lines link the airport with most resort areas on the island and are a reliable form of public transport. Regional airlines connect the nearby islands and sightseeing aerial flights can also be arranged. There is a very reliable inter-island ferry system with two operators offering regularly scheduled departures. If you want to explore independently while on the island, you can rent a scooter, motorbike or bicycle. Taxis are easy to find and fares are charged per person depending on the destination. Taxis are not metered.

Things to see and do Near Northside St. Thomas Resort Rentals

Aside from the beaches, one of St. Thomas's great attractions is its magnificent underwater reefs. The idyllic diving conditions with calm, warm waters and crystal-clear visibility make it a diver's dream come true. There are wrecks, caves, walls, arches, hundreds of tropical reef fish and spectacularly colorful corals. There are several top quality dive centers on the island where you can arrange a diving excursion and rent equipment. If you are not yet a certified diver, this may be the perfect opportunity to get qualified.

If you'd like to explore some of the land-based attractions near Northside St. Thomas villas, take a trip to the Tillet Gardens. Originally a farm, it is now a peaceful garden sanctuary where you can browse the craft stalls for silkscreen prints, paintings, handcrafted enamel jewelry and beautiful candles. At the top of St. Peter Mountain, the highest point on the island, you can enjoy an original banana daiquiri as you take in the view. From an elevation of 1,542 feet, you can look out over Magen's Bay and Drakes Passage.

To visit another great viewpoint, take the Skyride to Paradise Point, a modern aerial cable car that takes you to 700 meters above sea level. There are several historical sites on the island; you can explore the 99 stone steps or visit several old forts and museums which tell of the island's history.
