  • A quiet and secluded retreat that is central to everything.

"A beautiful condo. It feels like someone’s home, instead of a rental. All of the rooms are nicely decorated. The photos don’t do the view justice. We saw one rainbow in the distance and another that looked like it was right outside of the apartment. This is also the first rental that I have stayed in that I was not hot during any point of the day. There is plenty of cross ventilation due to window next to the front door and the apartment being located on the side of a hill. The patio with the grill and table is also a huge plus. The condo is at the end of a long road, so it was very quiet. The Mahogany Run Grill and the Olde Stone Farmhouse are close and worth multiple visits. There is also Simply Italian and the sports bar across from it, located only 5 minutes away. Be sure to visit Magen’s Bay Beach or Hull Bay Beach as a quieter alternative. The car ferry to St. John’s to see Cinnamon Bay and Trunk Bay is definitely a must see. Skip the Mandahl Market and Cost U Save (more like a Costco with everything in bulk) and visit the Tutu Park Mall ten minutes away. It has a bank, Walgreens, Kmart, Subway, McDonalds, a gas station and Plaza Extra, which is a full grocery store like you would see in the States. I was surprised this was not mentioned in the welcome packet. I would return to this condo and would recommend it to friends."

  • Wonderful and hospital

"This place is on the North Side where the regular folk live. It's great, as its quiet from the bustle of the town. If you want to go to town its a 15 minute drive. Hulls Bay is where the locals hang out and everyone was very kind. Definitely have the blackened shrimp tacos there. The place is clean and decorated nicely. Joe was a superb host, meeting us at the airport and then showing us the ropes. His years and experience as a sea captain makes him an ideal host. If you leave late in the day he is sure to leave the lights on for your safe arrival later in the evening. Kitchen had nice dished and cooking pots, which is not necessary the norm in a VRBO and a welcome surprise. Breakfast with the view of the harbor and mountains can't be missed and we were lucky to have a rainbow on our last day. Definitely try paddle-boarding and enjoy watching the pelicans and surfers. If you are new to the island, 1) don't be skittish on the roads. They are fine and just not mainland levels. 2) If you have your quarks for certain spices or herbs, bring them as food on the island is expensive. We brought a few bits and it made a difference. House is: 0 seconds for a fabulous view. Seriously, even in bed it's gorgeous. 5 minutes from the beach 10 minutes from a Kahlua Chocolate Boozy Milkshake 15 minutes to the city Best food was the blacked shrimp at the bar in Hull bay and the Rum Shanty in French Town. Try the fish tacos and bean fritters. If you are noise sensitive, bring some earplugs. The way the house is situated echos the roar of the ocean and during a breezy night it can get loud. I bought a pair and slept soundly. My partner and I had a lovely time. Will come back again. Joe is a wonderful host."

  • Awesome Stay!!!

"I do not normally write reviews but in this case....WOW!!! Jenniffer really picked a great home and equipped it perfectly for anyone who stays. The VIEW...the VIEW...the VIEW!! Every single room has an awesome view. The location is off the path of the main area of Red Hook and the other shopping but it is very close to one of the top 10 beaches in the world , Meagans Bay Beach. The owner is awesome and made it very easy to get everything taken care of and into the villa, Brian also was great. He is a very knowledgeable guy and can tell you just about anything you want to know about the island when he checks you into the home. Everything was a 10! Would definitely stay again."

  • "No Worries" at High Blue Heaven!

"Just returned from our MARVELOUS stay at High Blue Heaven. The house is very nicely located close to the many attractions the island has to offer but you may just want to hang out on the deck and enjoy the superb view of Magen’s Bay! We loved the island décor and the personal touches that the owner has added throughout the house. The two bedrooms offered great privacy for two couples and the open floor plan with the living room, dining and kitchen area gives the house a real “home away from home” comfortable feeling. We loved sitting on the deck having our morning coffee enjoying the views and the iguanas in the neighboring treetops. The pool was a little bit cool for us – our mistake – we should have requested to heat it and would recommend that option to future guests visiting in January. Caretaker Robin was extremely helpful with information on the area and any questions we had about HBH. She was always only a phone call, email, or text message away! We had a wonderful time…such a nice break from the snow and ice in upstate NY. Thank-you so much for sharing your lovely get-away place with us!"
