"To say this place was beautiful is an understatement. Words do not do enough to capture the beauty of Villa Eau Claire. We arrived in the early afternoon and were greeted at the airport by the incredibly warm and helpful Julia. She took us to the supermarket and then we traversed the hilly roads to arrive at our condo. The views are amazing. We swam daily with sea turtles right in the pocket beach on the premise. We walked down to the big beach and enjoyed some pizza and rum punch and we spent the days snorkeling and swimming around the bay. This location was perfect for our two teenagers 15 and 17 and our friends that joined us in the studio apartment below. The condo was open, breezy and had everything we needed. The studio can get a little stuffy when it's quite warm, but the air conditioner cools it down quickly. My husband developed a very serious tooth infection while on vacation and Annika the owner not only recommended a dentist, but also allowed us a later than usual checkout so he could rest before flying home. The only downside we experienced is no broom in the main condo (at least not one we could locate), but the people next to use let us borrow their broom. Oh and driving. Driving is a risky endeavor on the island, but one we adjusted to. We cannot wait to return to this little slice of heaven on earth!"

  • Spectacular beyond words

"What a house!!! Words can not adequately describe how fabulous our vacation was at this villa. From the minute we walked in until the minute we left, it was hard to take our eyes of the spectacular view. This is way beyond a typical beach house; it is stunningly gorgeous. The kitchen is huge and stocked with every type of food preparation utensil needed. Gorgeous granite and wood cabinets with loads of room. we truly felt like we were in paradise. There is room for outdoor eating on both sides of the villa. So if we wanted sun we could go to one side and if we wanted shade we could go to the other. I love to read on vacations and sitting in the tropical garden with the waterfall in the background was so relaxing. The villa manager was very helpful with suggestions for shopping and eating. She was completely available and explained every aspect of the villa to us. What we really appreciated about this villa was how private all the spaces are. With adult children, these family vacations only work is they have their own space and can be secluded from the group when they want to be. The common areas have to be large enough that everyone can sit together to watch the big game if they want to. In this villa we had both. The tv was bigger than the one we have at home We travel a lot as a family and have never rented a villa more lovely than this one! It was so clean and updated. I loved the furnishing—a combination of antiques and modern. It is not your typical beach house. It is elegant and upscale in every regards. We will be back next year for our time in luxury and paradise. The view from the pool and deck was unbelieving. Being in this house was truly the best vacation we have ever had - perfect in every way."

  • Unique Island Living

"We stayed here during Christmas week 2014. An escort met us at the airport at the appointed time and guided us to the villa. Peterborg is a very nice quiet area. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood and out to the Point. What a beautiful view! The villa is about 20 minutes from Red Hook. Once we got use to driving island style it wasn't bad. The roads are steep and the driveway does require a two point turn but the rental minivan got the job done. The villa is as pictured. It was pleasant to leave the screen doors open and listen to the water. We relaxed in the hammock each day. It was fun to watch the hummingbirds and butterflies flutter in the bushes. We did not cook in the villa but the kitchen seemed to be well stocked. We did use the snorkel equipment. It was nice to not have to rent gear for the week. Having beach towels and a cooler provided were also appreciated. The sun deck was most pleasant with an unobstructed view of the Bay. The villa is stocked with a few board games, DVDs, lots of books and CDs. As another reviewer mentioned, there is another building that is a part of the complex but not included in the rental. This unit does have a view of the rental's outdoor deck and pool area. It was empty during our stay. If renting again, I would inquire if this building would be occupied. The owner responded to email and phone calls quickly and answered all our questions. There are two reasons I did not rate the property five stars. The lower bedroom smelled a bit musty. There was a dehumidifier in the room but it was broken. Running the AC helped. Also, there are motion sensor lights on the lower level that did not always operate. It was difficult to navigate the steps in the dark. Overall, this villa is a great value. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again."

  • You'll never want to leave!

"Plan on never wanting to leave! We absolutely loved it! The studio was just perfect! The view breathtaking! Fun to watch the Pelicans. Saw turtles, lots of fish, so bring your goggles and snorkel! Easy walk in the water to Megan's bay or even the other direction to some other small beaches. Very quiet, hardly new anyone else was there. Enjoyed lunch the deck, although in the evening, just watch out for the few misquotes. The small fridge is plenty of room, but it would have been nice if freezer was separate. You can only get a half a bag of ice in it. And if you love boats...big boats...perfect spot to dream! Defiantly would stay again! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful place!"
