  • Absolutely Amazing!!

"Where to start? We needed a place to unplug and unwind and this was perfect! The view was amazing, like postcard amazing. The beach was rocky and rough and awesome for shell hunting. The path over to Neltjeburg Bay was AMAZING!!!! We used to live on island and I thought you had to go to St. John to see views like that while hiking, here it's in your own backyard. The best restaraunt on island (Thirteen) is right up the hill. We ate there once and then ordered a carryout our last night. The condo had everything you could need/want and then some. Very well stocked. The owner was prompt and went above and beyond. Was even willng to try to find us a car to borrow while there when our rental fell through. YOU HAVE TO HAVE A CAR. Preferably an SUV. Driving back and forth to different places we never took that same way twice (even when we tried:-)) and it was a great way to see ALL of the island. If you are wanted a base to island hop or explore everyday this is probably not the place for you. It's 45\60 minutes from Red Hook and 30 minutes to Charlotte Amalie. However if you are on vacation to sit, relax and take in postcard views of beach, palm trees and blue oceans, explore trails and private beaches, listen to waves hitting the shore lulling you to sleep, and not have to worry about if you left something at home, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!! We have a 3 and 5 year old and I would have felt totally comfortable bringing them. The local kids were always out playing. I think kids would have a blast here. The locals were great. Friendly and willing to answer any questions but never once bothered us. We never even used to pool. Wifi worked great when we needed it."

  • Wonderful and hospital

"This place is on the North Side where the regular folk live. It's great, as its quiet from the bustle of the town. If you want to go to town its a 15 minute drive. Hulls Bay is where the locals hang out and everyone was very kind. Definitely have the blackened shrimp tacos there. The place is clean and decorated nicely. Joe was a superb host, meeting us at the airport and then showing us the ropes. His years and experience as a sea captain makes him an ideal host. If you leave late in the day he is sure to leave the lights on for your safe arrival later in the evening. Kitchen had nice dished and cooking pots, which is not necessary the norm in a VRBO and a welcome surprise. Breakfast with the view of the harbor and mountains can't be missed and we were lucky to have a rainbow on our last day. Definitely try paddle-boarding and enjoy watching the pelicans and surfers. If you are new to the island, 1) don't be skittish on the roads. They are fine and just not mainland levels. 2) If you have your quarks for certain spices or herbs, bring them as food on the island is expensive. We brought a few bits and it made a difference. House is: 0 seconds for a fabulous view. Seriously, even in bed it's gorgeous. 5 minutes from the beach 10 minutes from a Kahlua Chocolate Boozy Milkshake 15 minutes to the city Best food was the blacked shrimp at the bar in Hull bay and the Rum Shanty in French Town. Try the fish tacos and bean fritters. If you are noise sensitive, bring some earplugs. The way the house is situated echos the roar of the ocean and during a breezy night it can get loud. I bought a pair and slept soundly. My partner and I had a lovely time. Will come back again. Joe is a wonderful host."

  • Wonderful family vacation!

"We stayed at Villa Eau Claire with our 3 kids ages 10, 12 and 14. We had a wonderful time checking out the wildlife around the property: lizards, iguanas, pelicans diving for fish, schools of small fish being chased by larger fish, sea turtles, etc. All of which were visible from the balcony overlooking the wonderful blue Magen's Bay. No need for a pool because the water at the beach is perfect for swimming, wading, floating and snorkeling. We walked to Magen's bay beach in the water and it was a fun adventure where we rented paddle boards for the kids. We took the ferry to St. John one day, went out on a fishing boat another day, rented snorkels at a dive shop and checked out Koki beach and Linquist beach for amazing snorkeling adventures. Lots of fun for the kids and plenty to do while also very relaxing for the adults. No matter what we did, it was such a treat to come back to the beautiful Villa Eau Claire! We relaxed on the deck and had cocktails on the beach and ate dinner each night on the balcony with the lights twinkling on the mountain across the bay and enjoyed checking out the different ships that would anchor there at night. The property was incredible! We would open all the doors and feel the sea breezes, the views were like a dream, beds very comfortable (an air mattress was provided for our third child.) Julia gave us a great welcome at the airport, took us to the grocery store and got us settled upon arrival. She was cheerful and helpful during our stay. There were fresh flowers in a vase to welcome us to the beautiful home. Everything was immaculately clean and well maintained. We had a wonderful visit! Thank you!"

  • Concur With Previous Reviews - Super!

"There were six in our party - all family members attending my son's wedding. Although the villa is a little fr from some of the shopping and tourist attractions, one day on the road and we were experts at navigating the island. We quickly settled in, enjoyed the view and pool, and began enjoying the experience. Oh yes, we live in Honolulu so we're very familiar with paradise!"
