"We checking in to the Marriott down the road. Changed rooms 3 times, and was super disappointed with the filth, of the rooms, restaurant, and overall expectations. After about 4 hours there, we jumped on home away, fount this place, called michelle, and we were on our way to heaven! The Ritz Club is everything you could expect and more. Rooms, service, beach, overall experience was awesome!"Guest: Doug E. Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: August 26, 2014View listing
"My husband and I spent a week here and can't wait to plan our next visit! Starting your day with coffee on the porch with the most amazing views was easy to get used to. The apartment was well furnished, with everything we could possibly need. You won't find a better view in Red Hook. The walk down the hill to town wasn't too bad at all. You are so close to lots of restaurants, but I definitely recommend renting a car. We spent a lot of time at Sapphire beach, which was a 5 minute drive away and a relatively quiet beach. You have to book a sailing trip with Max, because it is hands down the best thing you can do on your visit. We spent our mornings and evenings on the porch taking in the views and enjoying the company of Eva, the resident pup. The bird watching from Lion's Gate is pretty good also. Anything we needed, Max helped us with right away. We are already anticipating our next visit, it is absolutely a slice of paradise at Lion's Gate, you won't be disappointed."Guest: Hanna M. "My husband and I stayed in this unit from 10/17/14 - 10/24/14 and are happy we did! If you are expecting a 5 star resort, this isn't the place for you. This condo was exactly as described - the only surprise was the view! WOW! It is breathtaking, the photos on here do not do it justice. Sitting out on your balcony watching the sunrise is a must while you are here! The bed was comfortable & it was nice to have the A/C. It was very hot & sunny while we were there so coming back to a cool room was a plus. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook some meals at home. We ate breakfast every morning in the condo & used the outside grill one night to make dinner. Loved the grocery store right in Red Hook, as well as Cost-U-Less which was about 15 minutes away. There are 2 pools in the condo complex - we used both while we were there to cool off & they were both never crowded. We often had the smaller one right behind the condo to ourselves. The bar & restaurant on site were closed for the month of October, but the BBQ food truck at the entrance to the condo (Off The Grid) was delicious!! $15 for all you can eat ... we ate there twice during our stay! There was a pizza place recommended by the women who lived next door that delivered. I forget the name (maybe Senor Pizza?), but we did order from them one night - free delivery! It was decent pizza, nothing to rave about but if you don't want to go out every night, they were the only option we could find for delivery. The location of this condo is great. You are just minutes from Red Hook where we went most nights for dinner. Lots of restaurants to choose from & all of the ones we tried were delicious! We also liked that it was close to the ferry to St. John. We drove down to Sapphire Beach one day to check out the beach. The beach is beautiful & there was some good snorkeling! We forgot our snorkel stuff at home and were happy to see snorkels in the condo for use! We brought them with us to various beaches & saved money by not having to rent. I do recommend having a car to explore other beaches. We loved Coki Beach which was just a short drive from the condo. Megans Bay & Brewers Bay were also wonderful. If you are looking for a place to stay, I would recommend this unit!"Guest: Rachael D. Date of Stay: October 2014 Review Submitted: October 28, 2014View listing
"We just arrived back home from a 16 wonderful day stay at this Sapphire Beach Marina Condo. The condo and facilities were some of the best that we have had on a vacation and we have stayed all over the world - using VRBO rentals. The condo is stocked with the upscaled necessities that make a home away from home feel and the view out to the marina, ocean, and other islands is incredible. We rented a car for 6 days, but found that the Restaurant/Grill on site with good food and quality entertainment every night or short trip into Red Hook was pretty much what we found to be the best! We will go back and will stay here again!"Guest: Deborah G. Date of Stay: January 2014 Review Submitted: February 3, 2014View listing
