"This unit was absolutely perfect for us & our 3 adult kids who joined us part way through our week. Beautifully renovated. Well equipped. Very clean. Bedding was comfortable. We had a sufficient supply of towels, a beach towel for each person, & products to help maintain the unit throughout our stay. Most importantly, there was a good blender!! Appreciated having the 3rd & 4th floor balconies with amazing views of St. John & neighbouring British VI. From there we could watch every vessel leaving & returning from the adjacent marina. One mid day we approached a returning fishing charter to inquire about his fresh catch of the day. If their clients don't keep all of their catch, they'll clean & package whatever you're willing to purchase. The grounds are kept nice. Walkways, stairways & balconies to all units are well kept as well as daily garbage collection. Washed up seaweed is collected from the beach daily. Enjoyed sitting at the bi level pool. Plenty of loungers poolside & beachside. While outside, 24 hour security personnel, dressed in polo shirt uniforms, did come around asking guests their unit numbers to ensure that we were a registered guest. Eventually they did come to recognize us. The owner was prompt in responding to our initial inquiry of his rental unit & easy to correspond with throughout our planning. He provided an extended welcome package with information of the unit, offering suggestions on places to eat, places to see, grocery shopping & good snorkelling, which we printed off & referred to often. We did not rent a vehicle while on St. Thomas. Open safari buses for $1 locally & $2 to downtown were plentiful & so were cabs if we needed one. We met a cab driver on the Sapphire Beach grounds at the beginning of our stay & made reservations in advance with him for specific pick up & return times for our day excursion to Magen's Bay & also our departure time to the airport. He was punctual every time. A truly exceptional experience for our entire family. "My husband and I spent a week here and can't wait to plan our next visit! Starting your day with coffee on the porch with the most amazing views was easy to get used to. The apartment was well furnished, with everything we could possibly need. You won't find a better view in Red Hook. The walk down the hill to town wasn't too bad at all. You are so close to lots of restaurants, but I definitely recommend renting a car. We spent a lot of time at Sapphire beach, which was a 5 minute drive away and a relatively quiet beach. You have to book a sailing trip with Max, because it is hands down the best thing you can do on your visit. We spent our mornings and evenings on the porch taking in the views and enjoying the company of Eva, the resident pup. The bird watching from Lion's Gate is pretty good also. Anything we needed, Max helped us with right away. We are already anticipating our next visit, it is absolutely a slice of paradise at Lion's Gate, you won't be disappointed."Guest: Hanna M. "Our first time to the Virgin Islands was one to remember. This wonderful condo was a major part of that. How the owner represents their property is spot on, especially since one can't put into words just how beautiful it really is there. Marsha is excellent in all things related to renting a condo. If you are looking for simplicity, quiet, and "peaceful with a gorgeous view", then this is truly to place for you. Dining can be accomplished in several ways. We did cab rides into Red Hook as well as using the 'walkable' choices near the unit. "Off the Grid" food truck at the top of the hill was awesome, definitely recommend at least one visit there. "Banana Cabana" was great for lunch, right there on the beach, and nice selections. We"Guest: Thomas & Beth R. Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: May 14, 2014View listing
"Great stay, great condo very well equipped lots of beach toys and many left over condiments etc from previous occupants. Was missing bath and hand soap..minor nuisance. As close to beach, pool ,restaurants as possible at Elysian but did require multiple flights of stairs up and back down to go to beach.Owner very easy to work with and very helpful."Guest: Bob Date of Stay: June 2014 Review Submitted: June 16, 2014View listing
