  • A Little Piece of Paradise

"Whispering Palms was a magical place to stay for our week's vacation. Beginning with Joanne and Ken meeting us at the airport, our week couldn't have been better. It is a darling cottage, with the wrap around screened in living area and fabulous views of Magen's Bay, the ocean, and the surrounding hillsides. It's even more charming than the pictures show :-). The size was perfect for my husband and I (we enjoyed having the extra bedroom, but it could easily accomodate four people) and it was stocked with all the amenities we needed (towels, beach bags, full kitchen set up, linens, etc). We loved the openess and sense of being in nature. Having a parking spot was a bonus! It is also centrally located, we didn't have to drive too far to get to most anywhere we wanted to go. Joanne was the most helpful person I have ever rented from, she went above and beyond whenever I had a question or needed help finding something. She even took us to the market before taking us 'home'. Her suggestions for food, recreation, transportation, and shopping were spot on. (Sib's for local flavor!) We definitely recommend this charming cottage and would gladly stay again."

  • Great stay

"We had a wonderful stay and found the unit to be just as advertised. The owners were accessible through our entire visit, the unit was clean and well maintained, and the views and access to the water were unmatched. We had two adults and two children and the unit was very comfortable. I would recommend without hesitation."

  • A Jewel: the island and the property

"We have sojourned three different winters here at Sapphire Beach West (SBW) and have dealt with the same family/owners. Tom B. is the most efficient, helpful, knowledgeable, affable and dependable and owner/renter we have ever had the pleasure of renting from in all of our years of travel and using VRBO rentals. This association has been the fundamental reason we have kept returning. This is not to diminish one bit the perfection of the location and place out here at (SBW). We feel that the beautiful views seen from and around SBW, the quietness of the place, the maintenance of the picturesque grounds and the properties, themselves make SBW exceptional. We've driven all over the island and in our view, do not think there is a better choice available for a stay of a week or more. Charlotte Amalie is easily reachable and though traffic can be often tied up, it's never for long and there are always sights to enjoy (truly) while you wait to start moving again. Only once have we ever witnessed any road-warrior rage and that was two locals upset with the driving of another local in town. Traffic moves slowly but with everyone sharing and giving way at intersections and at parking lots and traffic lights the "island" pace is, dare I say, enjoyable. I love the use of American cars with the steering on the left which puts one's edge-of-the-road right there giving the opposing traffic as much room as the roads allow. We have, in our visits, found a delightful coffee shop/internet café outside of which to while away an hour or more reading in the coolness of the porch's shading tropical trees. Though close to the cruise ship madness of Havenside, those tourists seem almost unaware of this perfect spot to relax. The place? Don't overlook The Barefoot Buddha when you're in town and looking for great coffee flavors, fresh baked goods, relative quiet and coolness during the tropical day. And, too, Tom has yet to include the Frenchtown Rock among his recommended dining places. It's new, great selection of authentic Jamaican/Caribbean dishes. Just one block north of the Dronningens Gade main drag, at Bakery Square. They close at 6 PM. We highly recommend the place for an early dinner where we ate twice this year. So much to say-all positive, about the island but most of all Tom's two places here at SBW especially for the 55+."

  • Best location on St Thomas and best unit at the Sapphire!

"For us, this was the best place for us to stay on St Thomas during our trip, and was the best unit at the Sapphire! We were there during February school vacation week, and while the island was probably very busy and crowded, we never felt that way here. Everyone writes "words cannot describe the view..." and now I know why. It's true! Every morning all we had to do was slide open our curtains and we had the most beautiful view every second, while packing for the day, during meals, during games, for whatever! Having the most spectacular part of the beach just steps away was perfect. The kids were always busy - they could snorkel, walk the beach, play on the wide open sand, and my husband and I could join them or not. We could sit on the large patio, never having to rush to get a certain spot on the beach, shade or not. It was the most relaxed place we have ever stayed. The unit was stocked with everything we needed and help was just a call or text away if we ever needed anything. The condo is so spacious and comfortable. We had 4 staying and sleeping there for 8 nights without any problems. The bathroom and shower is also spacious! Red Hook was so close and there are SO many places to eat even without going into Charlotte Amalie. Of course a day trip to St John is a must, no matter where you stay! Thank you for a great trip! I truly hope our travels bring us back to St Thomas again, in which case we would definitely love to stay in your condo again!!"
