  • Excellent stay

"My wife and I stayed 9 days at Bill's unit with our two adult children. There was plenty of room, and the two updated bathrooms provided enough space for us to all get ready to go. The unit is in top shape and I will be back again."

  • Mostly Wonderful, Some Not-so-wonderful

"I've been trying to think about how to review this condo, and I think a list of pros and cons might be easiest: Pros: The view - amazing. From the back veranda, you could see some gorgeous water, as well as St. John (if you walked a few feet down the beach). The beach - quiet and beautiful; at times, it felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves, which was cool. Very clean and maintained. The decor - very modern, updated, trendy. The cabana bar - lordy, those women could make some rum punch. I mean, one would do ya just fine. Some were working on island time, but they made up for it with that rum pour. The critters - my hubby and I really enjoyed the iguanas and little lizards and hermit crabs, as well as some cute little leopard-print ducks. We're big animal lovers, so it was neat to see some new faces. Cons: I think that the condo itself (and its furniture and fixtures) could stand a once-over and here's why: Within an hour of arriving, I found myself locked in the bathroom. My husband used the bathroom before me and said the door didn't shut completely, so it swung open mid-stream, shall we say. Well, I'm not so brilliant, so I gave the door a firm shove when I went in (I didn't know about his door experience yet) and... it stuck. I believe the pin that goes from the knob into the door frame itself jammed up or broke completely. I had to remove the doorknob from the inside with a knife and a screwdriver that the very nice maintenance man passed me under the door. We spent the remainder of our honeymoon without a bathroom doorknob. I'll just say - it sucked. Could have been much worse, but still sucked. My hubby, who weighs all of 165 lbs, was sitting in a wooden chair on the back patio area a couple nights before we left and it actually split apart and dumped him onto the ground. It looks like it's happened before because there was already a small wooden piece of the back missing. We were able to fit the pegs back together and it was intact again, although we didn't sit in it for the remainder of our trip. Bottom line, the view and beach is fantastic but I think this place really needs some routine maintenance. As it stood, with the bathroom and the chair incident, it rates a solid 'good'. I would definitely consider returning, but suggest the owners visit first and make a few improvements."

  • Epic!!!!

"Villa Tryst was the most miraculous and amazing place I have ever had the privilege of staying! The crystal clear water, the beach at your doorstep, the secluded location, all superb! The Hull Bay Hideaway food was fantastic and seeing the local fishermen come in daily with their catch was great. The villa is top notch and we enjoyed swimming in the pool and snorkeling the reef. I would highly recommend this place for people seeking luxury, adventure, and the Caribbean at its finest!"

  • Fantastic Stay in the "Mango Room"

"I stayed in the Mango Room at Villa Marbella in mid September and had a fantastic time! Gunner and Leah are the best people you could ask for and the dogs are fun too. I was visiting my teenage daughter and really just need a small room that was safe and clean and the Mango room at Villa Marbella was perfect. The nightly rate was extremely reasonable and helped keep my trip affordable. The pictures of the room are exactly what you get – small but super cozy, safe, clean, everything you need. In fact we were the only people there for the last 4 days of my stay and Leah generously offered to move us to a larger room (at no charge by the way) and my daughter said no, she preferred the Mango room since it was cozier. The room has a dorm-sized fridge, microwave and a hot plate type appliance, suitable for a single pan. Pans, silverware and cups were provided as was a Keurig and coffee. We had oatmeal, cereal, and sandwiches during the day and usually grabbed something out in the evening. The pool was lovely and the grounds as well. We rented a jeep from them; which was a great decision. I arrived late in the evening and having them pick me up as a service included with car rental, was a great decision on my part. The roads are pretty steep and twisting and trying to find my way in the dark might have been tricky. Having them pick me up made it super easy. I just can’t say enough about Gunner and Leah and their staff, Jack, Lexi and Jager the dogs and the Villa Marbella experience. As one last anecdote, the day I was leaving I logged into my bank account and noticed that a local grocery store had charge me $111.00 when my bill was actually $11 (big difference!) I asked Gunner about it and he was immediately on the phone with the store owner and took care of everything securing me accredit of the $100 overcharge. It was all arranged before my plane even landed back in the US. Thank you!"
