  • magical week

"We were a group of 14 from Sweden, England, LA, PA, Chicago and Kansas City. 7 of us were fortunate to be booked on Safari for the family week. captain Steven Ray and Chef Queen Julia made our trip soo memorable. We visited many interesting snorkeling sites during the week, had the other boat over for dinner one night because we could accommodate the entire family easily. Ages ranged from 2 seniors, 18, 23, 24,27 & 36. this was a fabulous family bonding...no Wi-fi so we p,ayed games, talked and explored together. We opted not to swim into the Baths, Steven arranged for a truck to take us overland and we were thrilled to see the island from high up with all the bays and windy roads...and we then walked down to the baths....this was special and not touristy. We also went to Anegada ( a long trip east to see lots of beaches). Steven and Julia drove us ALL over the island to special beaches..we felt we really got to see it and not just sit on a beach. can not rave enough over how safe we felt with Steven at the helm, how we all gained weight on Julia's great meals...and we had one vegetarian! How she effortlessly prepared such wonderful meals and desserts to die for was difficult to comprehend. We were delighted our boat was air conditioned (not all are), it sparkled in cleanliness, bathrooms and bedrooms were comfortable and light. no one who charters this boat and crew will be disappointed... We are all sad it is over and grateful for this special trip!!!!"

  • Catalyst - May 2014

"We just completed the half-board on Catalyst for 7 days - it was phenominal! All island stops were well organized - every detail to include snorkling, swimming, customs, shopping, eating, & reservations were already considered and planned out by our Captain. The meals were delicious, down to the preparation, presentation and taste - with absolutely zero complaints. The catamaran is spacious with plenty of room on top to relax in the sun or take cover under the bimini for shade. The scenery was truly incredible, unlike any other place we've been. Snorkling allowed glimpses of beautiful fish, sea turtles, sting rays and many other sea life in the lovely blue and green clear ocean waters. Our favoirite stop was Saba Rock - watching the tarpin feeding. There was just the right amount of interraction with the Captain, very knowledgeable and he provided great detail on the history and stories of the different islands. A vacation truly designed for disconnecting with very limited decision making necessary."

  • Sailing US & British Virgin Islands March 2015

"On my husband’s “bucket” list was sailing on a monohull in the Caribbean. And how unbelievably fortunate we were to find Captain Dave Goodman and “Admiral” Bobbie Rae and their sailboat, the Bel Ami, to allow us to check this off his list. We are senior citizens, were first timers for sailing on a large boat in an ocean, and had only previously experienced the Caribbean through day stops from large cruise ship travels. So we were unsure of what to expect - what to pack, where would we be going, what would we be doing on and off the boat, safety, being with new acquaintances in “close quarters.” But through phone conversations, emails, and preference lists with Captain Dave days before our departure and from our initial interaction with him and Bonnie Rae, we instantly knew we had “scored a home run.” Captain Dave and Bobbie Rae picked us up in their dingy at Secret Harbor Beach, got us and our luggage aboard, and then Bonnie Rae gave us an informational tour of the boat while Dave prepared the boat for “take off.” This was the first example of the many ways they worked so well together as a team. Our room had plenty of storage, well-appointed (bed with multiple pillows and ocean-themed coverlet), TV with over 100 movies available (we had time for only 1), luxurious towels. Captain Dave reviewed options that were possible for the remainder of the day, based on that day’s weather conditions, where we were, where we could get to, and possible activities at our destination. This was the procedure he followed each day. But being “newbies,” we generally deferred to his expertise. We appreciated being included on making decisions, but his amazing insight, after only a short amount of time, about our personalities, our interests, our physical abilities, led to each day being perfectly designed just for us. Captain Dave and Bobbie Rae were keen on being sure each part of our trip was to our liking. How does Dave create those awesome breakfasts, lunches, and dinners in that tiny galley? And where does he store all the ingredients? We love all kinds of music and love to dance. Not only did we experience famous island venues for music and dancing, but also Dave’s onboard extensive music selections and his expertise on the accordion, with Bobbie Rae as backup singer, led to dancing and singing on board. No matter your interests, your level of sailing experience, your age, be sure to put a check mark by Bel Ami, Captain Dave and Bonnie Rae."

  • Trip of a life time!!

"Our family just returned from a week on Ayacanora with Robert and Rick. We had never sailed for an extended period of time. The trip was a 70th Birthday gift for my mother in law who is a nervous about sailing and the rest of the family are "aspiring" sailors but not quite ready to go out on our own. Roberta and Rick are professionals! My mother in law was sitting co pilot chatting with Roberta most of the week and loving every second! My husband gleaned extremely helpful sailing lessons and knowledge from Roberta and Rick all week. We were all spoiled every moment of everyday by the adventures, experience and beyond amazing food. I was nervous about gaining weight after reading the reviews so I told Roberta prior to our arrival that we wanted very healthy food! She is amazing. The food WAS healthy and literally 5 star restaurant meals. Our family loves to travel and all of us have traveled extensively. All of us agree hands down this was a bucket list trip, we all feel so lucky to have had this special time together enjoying the wind and the sailing, remote and beautiful beaches, the caves, snorkeling, Roberta and Rick's company and exquisite food....the list goes on. A few of us were nervous about the possibility of motion sickness so we brought the wrist bands which we thought was helpful. None of us had problems with motion sickness and at the end of the trip we all agreed being rocked to sleep is totally addicting. Even our two young kids ages 2 & 6 loved it! One of the things we all appreciated was the effort Roberta and Rick made to ensure we were all getting the best of everything. They brought us to special beaches and asked us what was important to us and made it happen. Our family felt so lucky to have experienced this adventure together - truly a trip of a life time!! Thank you Robert & Rick!!"
