  • Bareboat Charter in the BVI: Outstanding Boat

"We just returned from an outstanding 8 day trip on this wonderful 49' sailboat. It sailed liked a dream and was easy to maneuver. I loved the electric winches for the sails. What a treat. The seas were a bit rough on the trip and the boat provided a very comfortable ride. The owner of the boat was very helpful before the trip answering all of our questions and making suggestions for stops. The boat is comfortable on the inside and up top. The dinghy worked very well and was used frequently. Renting from this owner there were certain extras you probably don't find from a larger company. There were some provisions already on board that we used and we left our extras. There were plenty of towels, clothes pins, flippers, chart book, cooking gear and ample storage for all of our provisions. The little extras that set this boat apart from others also included, a generator to run the AC while on mooring ball or anchor. The windless probably had at least 150 ft of chain with markings for depth and worked perfectly. The interior was very comfortable form the berths to the seating areas. We watched movies and played games on some evenings in the salon area. We picked up the boat in Tortola and they even had a cab waiting for us to take us directly to the boat. The provisions from Bobby's Market were delivered right on time. This is a beautiful boat and would encourage you to rent from this owner."

  • Why this is the ideal format

"Why Sail with Captain Dave and Bobbie Rae You will be treated as royalty. Being the only couple on board you can choose your ideal balance of sailing, activities ashore, and snorkeling. Scuba is an option as well. They greeted you at the airport and transport you by private car to the dock. Return is the same, only much sadder to be leaving. Captain Dave and Bobbie Rae even take care of your luggage. Bobbie Rae keeps everything ship-shape. From coiling jib sheets to picking up mooring lines, to tidying up around the stateroom and galley, she is always busy. Her artistic touch is evident in the welcome champagne, carved soap, and other touches just for your arrival. You will appreciate the Captain’s excellent culinary skills. We ate incredibly good meals and were felt there was not enough to eat. Drinks and snacks overflowed as well. His pre-cruise checklist includes foods for you to select and he calls la few days before launch to make absolutely sure he understands just what you want. In addition to being a skilled sailor all his live, Dave knows all the best places to anchor. He considers current, wind, bugs, and diving options. We saw the most unbelievable array of undersea life. Many types of coral, a bevy of sea turtles, a peacock flounder, an octopus, and about 30 different tropical fish – many of which were not in the book. You will never meet a more gregarious guy than Captain Dave. He knows everyone around town and on the water and they all are glad to see him. Sleep late..,, full breakfast,,,, sail…, dive…, fancy lunch…, sail…, dive…, elegant supper… your favorite music to aid stargazing of an uncluttered sky…, then let the waves gently rock you to sleep. Repeat. What a terrific week. The only regret will be that the week sails by all too fast. In summary, a week with Captain Dave will be memorable because their goal is to make you completely happy."

"We sailed aboard the Argos around the BVI for our honeymoon in May 2014. Eric and Pam were great! They are knowledgeable, safe, and fun. The Argos is a beautifully kept boat and extremely comfortable. My new wife and I enjoyed great meals, plush quarters, beautiful sights, exciting activities, and some much needed relaxation. Two big thumbs up and a wholehearted recommendation for Pam and Eric and the Argos. Following seas and fair breezes to all!"

  • magical week

"We were a group of 14 from Sweden, England, LA, PA, Chicago and Kansas City. 7 of us were fortunate to be booked on Safari for the family week. captain Steven Ray and Chef Queen Julia made our trip soo memorable. We visited many interesting snorkeling sites during the week, had the other boat over for dinner one night because we could accommodate the entire family easily. Ages ranged from 2 seniors, 18, 23, 24,27 & 36. this was a fabulous family Wi-fi so we p,ayed games, talked and explored together. We opted not to swim into the Baths, Steven arranged for a truck to take us overland and we were thrilled to see the island from high up with all the bays and windy roads...and we then walked down to the baths....this was special and not touristy. We also went to Anegada ( a long trip east to see lots of beaches). Steven and Julia drove us ALL over the island to special beaches..we felt we really got to see it and not just sit on a beach. can not rave enough over how safe we felt with Steven at the helm, how we all gained weight on Julia's great meals...and we had one vegetarian! How she effortlessly prepared such wonderful meals and desserts to die for was difficult to comprehend. We were delighted our boat was air conditioned (not all are), it sparkled in cleanliness, bathrooms and bedrooms were comfortable and light. no one who charters this boat and crew will be disappointed... We are all sad it is over and grateful for this special trip!!!!"
