  • Beyond our expectations!

"From the get go Sam and Roxanne were a pleasure to work with on our first visit to Costa Rica! We are so grateful for the thoroughness and professionalism extended to us! The house is simply gorgeous! So much so that it was hard to leave every day to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer! The design of the house was warm and welcoming and all details well thought out! We enjoyed morning coffee poolside watching birds and butterflies feed on the bananas and the numerous iguana sunning on the roof or driveway. We took advantage of the view offered on top of the guest house each evening to star gaze and enjoy the twinkling lights of outlying towns. The central location of the house made our chosen attractions easy to reach. Sam recommended that we utilize the cell phone and GPS he has available and we are certainly glad we did as most of the roads are unmarked. We ventured to the Monteverde Cloud Forest, Poas Volcano and Jaco. We are already making plans for our return and while what we will do this next trip is up in the air, our choice to stay at the Luxury Castle is a definite!"

  • Enchanting!

"The house is beautiful and incredibly peaceful. It was perfectly well stocked with all we needed in terms of cooking, heading to the beach, etc. The owners provided a great book with things to do and see and where to eat. We even had a wonderful dinner at the house one night cooked by the housekeeper, absolutely delicious!"

  • March is Marvellous in Atenas

"My wife and I had a wonderful three month stay in Costa Rica, January through March in 2015. We stayed in three different locations and enjoyed our time at Hisano’s more than anywhere else. It is centrally located in Costa Rica, just outside Atenas, on an excellent bus route, about 20 minutes to Town for a cost of 350 colonies, about 75 cents. We used Hisano’s as a base and travelled frequently to San Jose for the symphony and museum experiences, as well as to the Pacific coast beaches, down to Jaco and Quepos/Manual Antonio National Park...we did day trips as well as overnight adventures. We rented the bungalow at Hisano’s and found it to be immaculate...this is rare in Costa Rica. The insects were controlled regularly through weekly maid service and included fresh linens and a thorough cleaning. The cabina is fully equipped, with two ample bedrooms, large living/dining room area, great kitchen, adequate bathroom, huge covered patio area with table, chairs and a hammock that I couldn’t keep my wife out of. It is modern, bright white tile throughout, attractively decorated inside with Wi-Fi and a cd player. There was no cable TV but we enjoyed Netflicks and other programming through our computers, so not a big deal especially when you consider local programming. The grounds surrounding the accommodation are beautiful and well maintained, even throughout the dry season, so the hundreds of plants carefully selected and planted by Hisano herself were always green and blooming. Most other places the grass is brown and plants suffering a bit from the lack of rain. The pool is a short walk down the path and was small but adequate in size and always immaculate. You will find Hisano herself to be a warm and welcoming host who respects your privacy but is always there when you need her and is always willing to help. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would recommend this accommodation to anyone."

  • Fabulous Open Air House

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the house. The open air aspect was wonderful...being able to open everything up during the day. Every day when we returned from our excursion, it was wonderful to have the pool to cool off in. Water was perfect temperature. And in the evenings, the hot tub was the location of choice. On the first evening, we were sitting in the hot tub and a tarantula came walking by. We are into the wildlife, so watched each day. Saw toucans one day near the house. Also had a resident huge frog/toad (don't know which one) that came at night and sat near one of the lights catching bugs. The house had all pots, pans, cookware, appliances that we needed. We ate out mostly, but cooked a few meals in. Elias was wonderful and willing to help out in any way. He went to the farmers market for us on Friday since we were not arriving until Saturday and bought a huge variety of fruit and vegetables for us, which were delicious. Highly recommend this house if you are looking for a place to stay near Atenas."
