"The house is beautiful and incredibly peaceful. It was perfectly well stocked with all we needed in terms of cooking, heading to the beach, etc. The owners provided a great book with things to do and see and where to eat. We even had a wonderful dinner at the house one night cooked by the housekeeper, absolutely delicious!"

"The most obvious way to tell you how great this rental is, is to tell you that we have been back twice already and are planning a third visit. The next most obvious way to sing the praises of Diana's house, is to tell you that we've been motivated by our visit to buy our own property and build a house that steals much of its inspiration from this one.
The house overlooks a valley filled with birds, and horses and cows. We wake each morning to a beautiful sunrise, have breakfast overlooking the valley and then make our plans for the day. They mostly involve not doing much -- lazing by the pool or having wine with visiting friends -- but the almost always end with dinner watching the sunset and the lights come up.
This house is magical. It's perfect for a couple on a short stay or a long one. The separate casita lets your visiting friends have space of their own. And the nearby town of Atenas is just right for those who want to get away and relax. It isn't a tourist town -- it's filled with real Ticos who have their own lives. Be sure and go to the Farmer's market on Friday's for fresh produce if you are there.
In any event, this house is just magic. Jaime, the gardener, and Leticia, the property manager, make it happen in every way you can want. Don't hesitate a moment ... book now. Just not the days we want!"

"My wife and I had a wonderful three month stay in Costa Rica, January through March in 2015.
We stayed in three different locations and enjoyed our time at Hisano’s more than anywhere else. It is centrally located in Costa Rica, just outside Atenas, on an excellent bus route, about 20 minutes to Town for a cost of 350 colonies, about 75 cents. We used Hisano’s as a base and travelled frequently to San Jose for the symphony and museum experiences, as well as to the Pacific coast beaches, down to Jaco and Quepos/Manual Antonio National Park...we did day trips as well as overnight adventures.
We rented the bungalow at Hisano’s and found it to be immaculate...this is rare in Costa Rica. The insects were controlled regularly through weekly maid service and included fresh linens and a thorough cleaning. The cabina is fully equipped, with two ample bedrooms, large living/dining room area, great kitchen, adequate bathroom, huge covered patio area with table, chairs and a hammock that I couldn’t keep my wife out of. It is modern, bright white tile throughout, attractively decorated inside with Wi-Fi and a cd player. There was no cable TV but we enjoyed Netflicks and other programming through our computers, so not a big deal especially when you consider local programming.
The grounds surrounding the accommodation are beautiful and well maintained, even throughout the dry season, so the hundreds of plants carefully selected and planted by Hisano herself were always green and blooming. Most other places the grass is brown and plants suffering a bit from the lack of rain.
The pool is a short walk down the path and was small but adequate in size and always immaculate.
You will find Hisano herself to be a warm and welcoming host who respects your privacy but is always there when you need her and is always willing to help.
We enjoyed our stay immensely and would recommend this accommodation to anyone."

"We arrived at Pica Flora having spent the previous few months in northwestern Costa Rica on the beach. We were a bit worried about how we would like being away from the beach but I have to say this home is the best we've stayed in during our three annual winter trips to Costa Rica!
From the moment we arrived in downtown Atenas everything has been fabulous. We met Andrew and he showed us up to the house (aka our little piece of heaven). The first thing that struck us were the beautiful views of the valley. The property is lush and well laid out. The main house kitchen has everything you need for a short or long stay. The master bed is very comfortable (a huge plus in our book), and the whole house is scrupulously clean. There are views from every side of the wrap-around terrace and the view of the lights in the valley at night from the master bedroom is spectacular.
The pool is beautiful for swimming, is well maintained, and you can hear the toucans while having your morning swim.
The weekly staff looking after the house are very kind and thorough. We had a problem with a flat tire and one of the gardeners hooked us up with a garage that completed the repair while we waited!
The casita rooms are clean and quiet, with comfortable beds.
Andrew has been incredibly helpful throughout our stay, responding very quickly to any questions or concerns. He is a real asset.
Our only regret is that, due to some events back home in Canada, we have to leave earlier than planned.
We would highly recommend "The Bamboo House" for anyone wanting a luxurious getaway in a beautiful setting. Atenas is only a short taxi ride (2-3$) down the hill"
