"My husband Tim + I visited this gorgeous property for our honeymoon & I cannot say enough about how incredible it was! After 6 months of stress & extreme planning for the wedding, I was looking for a place of solitude and relaxation where we could enjoy being newlyweds...wow, this is it! The moment you enter the home there is a sense of peace & tranquility here that is second to none. The Balinese open air design of the home allows the landscape to be a part of the house rather than being two separate spaces. The pool is the perfect refuge from the hot Costa Rican sun and when the fog rolls in and the afternoon storms hit, the hammock is the perfect place to chill out & watch the wild weather. Tim & I enjoyed the local farmer's market in Atenas and cooking in the beautiful, well appointed kitchen for most of our meals. Leticia the property manager was so sweet and helped to answer all of our questions. We took a couple of day trips to the beach and to the La Paz waterfalls and Poaz Volcano. Honestly though, our favorite part of the trip was the chance to relax and unwind. We saw so many gorgeous birds, butterflies, cows in the valley below, and even white faced monkeys who would tap on the windows of the house in the evenings. The privacy was wonderful and we always felt very safe. The home is super clean and the gardens are perfectly maintained. Altogether, we would 100% recommend this property to anyone! Pura Vida!!"Guest: Kerry D. Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 6, 2014View listing
"My wife, 2 kids (11 and 8) and I have had one of the most memorable summers you could ever imagine and it would not have been possible without having a place that we could call home for 2 months. The house with its open floor plan, the 3 bedrooms and, my kids favorite, the pool gave us a place to settle in and allowed us to really explore the beauty of Costa Rice. With the internet I was able to do business and stay in contact with my office as well. We experience the farmers market on Friday mornings, the Mercado a couple a times a week, the plaza for the kids to run play and make friend and the one and only Gelly's for our ice cream, ask for Alex he's the owner and is the nicest man and try to make it to La Casita del Café up route 3, great view on top looking down the valley and on a clear day you can see the ocean and the food is really good. We were able to explore multiple beaches that are 40-60 minutes away, go to the volcanoes of Paos and to the waterfall of La Pez, do forget to get your fresh strawberries sold on the side of the road. We also made a weekend trip to Arenal, wonderful. When we needed our American fix we found a Walmart and a Starbuck 20-30 toward San Jose. Great experience and the owner of the property is easy and trust worthy to deal with. I highly recommend this this house and this wonderful little village of Atenas."Guest: Brandon P. "Our stay in this upscale house on the top of a hill was wonderful. The open floor-plan house with modern kitchen house has everything one needs for a place in the central highlands. An easy 30 minute drive from the San Jose airport lands one in the little town of Atenas and a five minute car ride up into the hills finds you in the heart of luxury. Atenas has everything you need to make this your base of operation to explore the central highlands. Poas Volcano is about 1.5 hour drive and Arenal Volcano is 2.5 hours. Both can be day-trips, but we stayed overnight in Arenal to get the best use of our time. Lots of other fun stuff to do in the outdoors. And returning to the house after an active day to find the pool inviting us in for a dip was a nice addition."Guest: john l. Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: March 15, 2014View listing
"Both the Manager and the location of the apartment were perfect for us. From Atenas we took some day trips and everything worked out so well, with Hisano's assistance, of course. We hated to leave and can't wait to go back. Thanks again for making our short vacation so enjoyable."Guest: BGrzetic Date of Stay: May 2014 Review Submitted: May 25, 2014View listing
Atenas Travel Tips
Stay in Atenas and Catch a Glimpse of Perfection
Located just 26 miles northwest of San Jose, Atenas rentals allow you to enjoy warm days and mild evenings in one of the best climates in the world. Atenas is surrounded by parks, restaurants, and lush landscapes, making it one of the most beautiful destinations in Costa Rica.
Atenas Resorts near the Central Park
The central park of Atenas is also the heart of the city. This peaceful spot is perfect for a picnic, ice cream, or people-watching. In fact, you can watch more than people at this spot as every afternoon flocks of green parrots and toucans appear in the towering palm trees. This park allows you to get a full idea of what quintessential Costa Rican days are like.
You Must Shop during Vacations in Costa Rica
During vacations in Costa Rica, you should not miss out on the opportunity to go shopping! You will definitely want to take home some souvenirs that you would not be able to acquire anywhere else. One such item is Atenas coffee which is some of the finest in the world.
Because Costa Rica is so beautiful and there is no reason to remain cooped up in your Atenas beach rentals, you should definitely take some tours during your stay. Vacations in Costa Rica actually require some sightseeing, so a tour is the perfect way to achieve this. If you are looking for an adventure, book an ATV tour that will take you into the mountains and out by the sea. You can also hire a local guide to show you around firsthand.
