"My family spent two weeks at Colina Paula and had a spectacular time! My daughter loved the pool and I loved waking up every morning at sunrise, opening the double doors on both sides of the house and enjoying a cup of Costa Rican coffee in the rocking chair. The location was convenient to downtown Atenas. We took white cabs to and from the city - cost only around $3 American one way. We got connected with Bunki Tours and took three personal tours led by Marian and Aad; ziplining, Toledo coffee plantation tour, Poas volcano and Waterfall Gardens. All trips were excellent and much nicer than going on a bus with a bunch of other tourists. The caretakers, Piet and Yvonne, were very accommodating. Piet was willing to pick us up from the airport at 1:15am. We will certainly visit Costa Rica again and will likely stay at Colina Paula! Thanks!"

"Spectacular is the best word I can think of to describe Finca Centaura. Esteban, his family, and all of his staff are incredible and trustworthy. We had a group of 12 ranging from 2 yrs. old to 58 yrs. old and occupied all of his vacation homes. They are all beautiful and immaculate. You can truly experience Costa Rica away from all the tourist or within a 30 min. drive be in La Fortuna. Definitely take a horse back ride and ATV ride on his property. You will see some breath taking views. We have taken many horse riding excursions many other places and this tops them all. You will never get an experience like this anywhere else. Take an ATV ride to the hot springs. They are fun and relaxing. The hot springs are beautiful and in natural surroundings. There is a grocery store in town that is great. There is also an ATM just past the grocery store on the right. You can only get Colones so just do the math and you will be fine. I had no issues. We ate several times at La Hacienda on the main road in town. It was really good. Loved the Tres Leche cake. Yummy!! Esteban even ordered pizza to be delivered for us and it was delicious. I wasn't expecting that in such a small town. The pool and hot tub were fantastic to relax in during our down time. The cleaning staff did an excellent job everyday. They will even do your laundry for a small fee. That was a real plus. We stayed for 5 nights but my husband and I have already been in contact with Esteban to return next year. He will help you get a great deal on a rental car and also help you plan your entire stay in Costa Rica. I have to give a shout out to Dani, our tour guide on the ranch. He was so knowledgeable and fun!!! I'm sure you will enjoy Finca Centaura as much as we did. Can't wait to get back there."

Wonderful 1st visit to Costa Rica - Wonderful home
"This was our 1st visit to Costa Rica and what a beautiful place - Joe thank you for sharing your home and retreat - it was absolutely WONDERFUL - we stayed 7 days in Atenas and had a great time - we used Walts Taxi and Tour service for all our needs - Walt is wonderful, Luis our Atenas taxi driver was very professional, friendly and always on time. We took (3) tours with Walt, Miguel and Jennifer they were absolutely the greatest tour guides we could have - we did 7 Tico Town Tour - was alot of interesting information, San Jose town tour - not our favorite and would not do unless you just want to spend the day seeing the capital of Costa Rica - lastly we did Poas Volcano and La Paz gardens and waterfall - WONDERFUL would recommend this trip, all day trip but well worth it - the Volcano was wonderful land the gardens were stunning. A long hike to the waterfalls but well worth it.
Joe was wonderful at communicating with us and making sure we had what we needed for our trip - Elias was a great groundskeeper - he was always there when we needed him but very descreet when we were on the property and just doing our own thing - he lives on property so is there anytime you need him. Again a great house and very peaceful and quiet - we did miss having TV but made netflex work for us and the speakers for our music was very relaxing - Time to read a good book and Joe has a great selection. We cooked meals at the house on the BBQ and kitchen that has everything you will need but the food - Ate at Kaye's gringo kitchen - great place to meet other expats and great conversations - they treat you like family, also ate at La Finca great pizza. Farmers market is a must for veggies and fruits (Fridays only)."

"We stayed here 5 nights in August with two grandkids (ages 12 &15). Others have mentioned this is on a typical Central American unpaved road which adds to the driving time but also the adventure. When we arrived it was starting to get dark and pouring rain but Nancy's directions were excellent and we found it with no problem. The house is exactly as pictured and quite roomy with AC, washer and dryer and plenty of hot water. Loss of electricity is common in this part of the world but we only had one outage for 4 - 5 hours. The morning after we arrived, we had the good luck of a visit by one of the two scarlet macaws who seem to hang out in this area. The macaw came to the balcony railing that circles the bedrooms on the 2nd floor. It's hard to imagine teenagers excited to be woken at 6 AM but the macaw did the trick and got our trip off to a good start. While here, we hiked the waterfall, visited Baldi hot springs, rapelled through waterfalls with Puretrek, and ziplined with Skytrek. All of these were a 30 - 45 minute drive away. We also visited Proyecto Asis which was a little farther but well worth the trip. We tried out Essence (very convenient 2 doors away and great since we are all vegetarians) and Pizza Johns (a short drive). This was a great property and trip. The only minor complaint was from my husband who likes to cook and so we ate in a few nights - the house needs a few good knives."
