"My wife and I had a wonderful three month stay in Costa Rica, January through March in 2015.
We stayed in three different locations and enjoyed our time at Hisano’s more than anywhere else. It is centrally located in Costa Rica, just outside Atenas, on an excellent bus route, about 20 minutes to Town for a cost of 350 colonies, about 75 cents. We used Hisano’s as a base and travelled frequently to San Jose for the symphony and museum experiences, as well as to the Pacific coast beaches, down to Jaco and Quepos/Manual Antonio National Park...we did day trips as well as overnight adventures.
We rented the bungalow at Hisano’s and found it to be immaculate...this is rare in Costa Rica. The insects were controlled regularly through weekly maid service and included fresh linens and a thorough cleaning. The cabina is fully equipped, with two ample bedrooms, large living/dining room area, great kitchen, adequate bathroom, huge covered patio area with table, chairs and a hammock that I couldn’t keep my wife out of. It is modern, bright white tile throughout, attractively decorated inside with Wi-Fi and a cd player. There was no cable TV but we enjoyed Netflicks and other programming through our computers, so not a big deal especially when you consider local programming.
The grounds surrounding the accommodation are beautiful and well maintained, even throughout the dry season, so the hundreds of plants carefully selected and planted by Hisano herself were always green and blooming. Most other places the grass is brown and plants suffering a bit from the lack of rain.
The pool is a short walk down the path and was small but adequate in size and always immaculate.
You will find Hisano herself to be a warm and welcoming host who respects your privacy but is always there when you need her and is always willing to help.
We enjoyed our stay immensely and would recommend this accommodation to anyone."

"My extended family group of four persons stayed at this beautiful house for two nights. The house is located in an enclosed compound in the jungle a few miles from town. There are several fruit trees surrounding the house. We were awakended both mornings by a howler monkey and other jungle sounds. The pool was great. During our stay the washing machine was broken. Only two of the bedrooms are air conditioned. The pictures of the house do not do it justice. The house is great! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there."

"We enjoyed our stay at Colina Paula very much. The house is beautiful, very comfortable and fully equipped such that we settled in easily and felt right at home. Piet and Yvonne were welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed plenty of time relaxing and did not want to leave the property, but we did venture out. Atenas is about a half hour walk away. Carara is an hour drive- a wonderful place to see wildlife. We took other day trips as well. We are a family of two adults and one young child. This was a perfect place for us. We will return."

"We had an amazing stay at Hacienda Encantada. It was the perfect getaway. Very conveniently located near the national park with some great hiking. Marty and Nina were so helpful with recommendations, directions and responding to our questions/requests! We would highly recommend this place!"
