  • Fantastic place to be!

"We have certainly enjoyed our stay at the Finca. The house is beautiful, spacious and finished with lovely decorations. To be able to swim in our own pool is a treat! Easy access to town and other places in Costa Rica. We have made this our home base making day excursions to the beach, San José and all of the great towns in the Central Valley. The gardens are beautifully kept and we have enjoyed the fruits that grow on the property. Thanks and we hope to come back!"

  • Unbelievable

"Just a great experience all around. We were a little unsure if we'd like a non-inclusive vacation but we absolutely loved this place. The house, the view, the weather...everything was perfect. Atenas is a quick downhill walk and a cheap cab ride back. Full of friendly people and great restaurants. Sam and Roxanne go out of there way to make you sure have everything you need. And Walter (taxi and tour operator) was invaluable. Have him meet you at the airport and swing by the grocery store to pick up supplies before you even get to the house. I can't imagine returning to an all inclusive resort after this experience. Thanks Sam and Roxanne. See you soon."

  • Peace among the butterflies and birds.

"We live in San Jose and Atenas is one of our favourite places to visit, it is such a gorgeous little town with so much of what makes Costa Rica unique. The cottage is the perfect place to stay. The views are incredible and the floor to ceiling windows mean you can enjoy them from the second you wake until you decide to sleep. On the first stay we spent the entire day on the balcony bird watching and butterfly spotting. The gardens are mature and attract a lot of wildlife so you won't want to go anywhere. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing visit; fully stocked kitchen, fast wifi, netflix on a massive tv, bath to properly chill out, really comfortable bed - amazing! On the Sunday we spent the day in the hotel grounds as part of the price. You can choose from 3 pools, play tennis, mini-golf or just enjoy a beer and, again, the wildlife. If you are coming to Atenas I 100% recommend you stay in this beautiful property and enjoy the peace and quiet that makes Costa Rica so 'pura vida'! :)"

  • Perfect place for our family

"This is such a beautiful home. Mario the gardener takes very good care of the grounds and left us fresh fruit a few times by the front door. It was nice to be able to cook in this very good stocked kitchen. The big supermarket is just a short distance away. We loved waking up to the sounds of different birds and the view from the front porch couldn't be better. Aad and Marian were very helpful with getting us a rental car. Aad took us to Poaz Volcano and the Waterfall Gardens. We recommend taking this tour. We learned so much about Costa Rica from Aad on the way there and back. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Our kids loved the pool and Mario made sure that it was always sparkling clean. The weather was perfect. Overall, whenever we would return from a day trip, we felt like coming HOME."

It takes a few hours to reach the coastal region because Alajuela is in the center of Costa Rica. Hiking, biking, and eco-tours of the canopy are all options for your family vacation to Alajuela beach rentals.

Vacations in Costa Rica Delve into the Past

The history of Costa Rica dates as far back as the pre-Columbian era. The area was inhabited by natives, even when the Spanish settlers found the land in 1650. Though there were small uprisings, the natives of Costa Rica were very welcoming to settlers sharing their lands. Religious uprisings did occur when Monsignor don Esteban Lorenzo de Tristan wanted to erect a parish. Your vacations in Costa Rica will allow you to see this parish along with other churches from the past. A good idea is to plan out your trip to the churches while having breakfast at Alajuela resorts.
