  • Wonderful jungle house

"My extended family group of four persons stayed at this beautiful house for two nights. The house is located in an enclosed compound in the jungle a few miles from town. There are several fruit trees surrounding the house. We were awakended both mornings by a howler monkey and other jungle sounds. The pool was great. During our stay the washing machine was broken. Only two of the bedrooms are air conditioned. The pictures of the house do not do it justice. The house is great! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there."

  • A Wonderful Mountain Retreat!

"We spent 2 weeks in this lovely casita and loved every minute! The casita is comfortable, clean, well equipped and has an ever changing view as the clouds blow by and reveal the stunning panoramic view of the Gulf of Nicoya. We were visited by a variety of birds and butterflies daily as the grounds are beautifully kept. Norm and Collie were awesome hosts! Collie greeted us with fresh muffins, and they were both a wealth of information and ideas about living in Costa Rica. Their directions for finding the property were extremely accurate. You must have a 4 wheel drive to get around Costa Rica, and , as we discovered, a GPS is a good idea as the signage is not the greatest! The San Ramon area has lots to offer. Be sure and go to the Farmers' Market on Friday afternoons! We explored the Atenas, Grecia, and Sarchi areas, the Botanical Garden in Sarchi is lovely, soaked in the surf at Playa Dona Ana, enjoyed massages at Villa Blanca and also took in the La Garita Animal Habitat, The Butterfly Farm and Rancho San Miguel in La Guacima and the La Paz Waterfall Garden. We also just curled up and watched the lightening over the coast! There is no TV and the DVDs were not working, but the WiFi is excellent, so we used that for Netflix and reading. All in all, we would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet retreat from the hectic world below, and we would stay there again."

  • Most wonderful 2 months

"My wife, 2 kids (11 and 8) and I have had one of the most memorable summers you could ever imagine and it would not have been possible without having a place that we could call home for 2 months. The house with its open floor plan, the 3 bedrooms and, my kids favorite, the pool gave us a place to settle in and allowed us to really explore the beauty of Costa Rice. With the internet I was able to do business and stay in contact with my office as well. We experience the farmers market on Friday mornings, the Mercado a couple a times a week, the plaza for the kids to run play and make friend and the one and only Gelly's for our ice cream, ask for Alex he's the owner and is the nicest man and try to make it to La Casita del Café up route 3, great view on top looking down the valley and on a clear day you can see the ocean and the food is really good. We were able to explore multiple beaches that are 40-60 minutes away, go to the volcanoes of Paos and to the waterfall of La Pez, do forget to get your fresh strawberries sold on the side of the road. We also made a weekend trip to Arenal, wonderful. When we needed our American fix we found a Walmart and a Starbuck 20-30 toward San Jose. Great experience and the owner of the property is easy and trust worthy to deal with. I highly recommend this this house and this wonderful little village of Atenas."

Vacations in Costa Rica Delve into the Past

The history of Costa Rica dates as far back as the pre-Columbian era. The area was inhabited by natives, even when the Spanish settlers found the land in 1650. Though there were small uprisings, the natives of Costa Rica were very welcoming to settlers sharing their lands. Religious uprisings did occur when Monsignor don Esteban Lorenzo de Tristan wanted to erect a parish. Your vacations in Costa Rica will allow you to see this parish along with other churches from the past. A good idea is to plan out your trip to the churches while having breakfast at Alajuela resorts.
