  • Hermosa casa , hermoso hogar.

  • A piece of paradise

"We arrived at Pica Flora having spent the previous few months in northwestern Costa Rica on the beach. We were a bit worried about how we would like being away from the beach but I have to say this home is the best we've stayed in during our three annual winter trips to Costa Rica! From the moment we arrived in downtown Atenas everything has been fabulous. We met Andrew and he showed us up to the house (aka our little piece of heaven). The first thing that struck us were the beautiful views of the valley. The property is lush and well laid out. The main house kitchen has everything you need for a short or long stay. The master bed is very comfortable (a huge plus in our book), and the whole house is scrupulously clean. There are views from every side of the wrap-around terrace and the view of the lights in the valley at night from the master bedroom is spectacular. The pool is beautiful for swimming, is well maintained, and you can hear the toucans while having your morning swim. The weekly staff looking after the house are very kind and thorough. We had a problem with a flat tire and one of the gardeners hooked us up with a garage that completed the repair while we waited! The casita rooms are clean and quiet, with comfortable beds. Andrew has been incredibly helpful throughout our stay, responding very quickly to any questions or concerns. He is a real asset. Our only regret is that, due to some events back home in Canada, we have to leave earlier than planned. We would highly recommend "The Bamboo House" for anyone wanting a luxurious getaway in a beautiful setting. Atenas is only a short taxi ride (2-3$) down the hill"

  • Beyond our expectations!

"From the get go Sam and Roxanne were a pleasure to work with on our first visit to Costa Rica! We are so grateful for the thoroughness and professionalism extended to us! The house is simply gorgeous! So much so that it was hard to leave every day to explore all that Costa Rica has to offer! The design of the house was warm and welcoming and all details well thought out! We enjoyed morning coffee poolside watching birds and butterflies feed on the bananas and the numerous iguana sunning on the roof or driveway. We took advantage of the view offered on top of the guest house each evening to star gaze and enjoy the twinkling lights of outlying towns. The central location of the house made our chosen attractions easy to reach. Sam recommended that we utilize the cell phone and GPS he has available and we are certainly glad we did as most of the roads are unmarked. We ventured to the Monteverde Cloud Forest, Poas Volcano and Jaco. We are already making plans for our return and while what we will do this next trip is up in the air, our choice to stay at the Luxury Castle is a definite!"

  • Enchanting!

"The house is beautiful and incredibly peaceful. It was perfectly well stocked with all we needed in terms of cooking, heading to the beach, etc. The owners provided a great book with things to do and see and where to eat. We even had a wonderful dinner at the house one night cooked by the housekeeper, absolutely delicious!"

Vacations in Costa Rica Delve into the Past

The history of Costa Rica dates as far back as the pre-Columbian era. The area was inhabited by natives, even when the Spanish settlers found the land in 1650. Though there were small uprisings, the natives of Costa Rica were very welcoming to settlers sharing their lands. Religious uprisings did occur when Monsignor don Esteban Lorenzo de Tristan wanted to erect a parish. Your vacations in Costa Rica will allow you to see this parish along with other churches from the past. A good idea is to plan out your trip to the churches while having breakfast at Alajuela resorts.
