"We traveled with a group of 11, ages 4 through 76. We had plenty of space and comfortable sleeping arrangements. Erika the maid arrived daily at around 8 and cleaned all the rooms and did some laundry. A nightwatchman was there from 6pm until 6am. He maintained the garden, cleaned the pool and hung around the pool deck while we slept. They were both pleasant but spoke no English. The outdoor kitchen and pool deck was our living room for the week, from sun up sun down.
We paid $350 for a cook, Andreas. She prepared a great guacamole and salsa for hungry travelers, and had already grocery shopped for the first day's dinner. We sent a menu ideas for the first few days via email, based on the menu available on the beach house website, but this may have been too much detail. Two of us sat with her Sunday morning to develop the menu for the week. She spoke a little English but communication was challenging, and she asked us to be very specific about menu and timing, but offered little guidance. Two of us accompanied her on the one grocery store trip near Tamarindo (we took a taxi). We probably could not have found everything we needed without her! She made some nice meals but I think if we could have communicated more easily, we may have hit upon more of her specialties. The breakfast on the last day, huevos rancheros, was delicious. We have never had someone cook for us and it was a wonderful luxury. Consider suggesting a daily menu of tried and true meals for groups that are the house chef's specialty, and just letting us decide if we want it.
Coco Loco bar and restaurant is literally right next door. Tasty drinks, music and a way to meet new people. We could leave the teens at the house to watch the smaller kids while the parents had a a happy hour cocktail - we could see them on the deck from our bar stools! It was about a 10 minute walk to the Flamingo Beach plaza with Marie's restaurant, an ice cream stand, souvenirs, tour operator and convenience store (this is where we shopped for beer). A car is not necessary at this property but I missed having one. There were many spots a few miles up the road, the beach house restaurant to the Shack to a fruit stand, we would have liked to explore. There were no bike rentals so this wasn't an option. A few beat up taxi's hang out outside Maries, but they get expensive since once they take you somewhere, they need to wait for you to finish to bring you home."

"We recently stayed at Casa Miramar for a week and found the house very inviting, spacious, comfortable and well-laid out. The views are stunning, and we spent a lot of time outside on the terrace enjoying the wonderful weather and beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. There were exotic flowers, birds, squirrels, iguanas and even a raccoon to entertain and welcome us. This is a wonderful place to enjoy the beauty of nature. Martha and Donald were very friendly and helpful and took great care of us as well as the house. The language barrier was minimized with a translation app. There are several places within walking distance down the hill, but we also enjoyed the beach, took a day trip to Tamarindo and booked a couple of tours through Jonas with Adventours, all of which we highly recommend. We can't wait to go back to Costa Rica and Casa Miramar!"

"Pro’s: The house sits on a beautiful and peaceful piece of beach. On average I’d say there were no more than 20 other people walking/playing on the 3 miles of coast. The ocean is warm, waves were perfect for a 4 year old and the undertow was light. Boogie boarding was a daily ritual. The pool was engineered perfectly, shallow part for kids, deep portion for adults and a nice sitting area in the other corner. Weather was consistent, ~95, ~75 no clouds. Thank goodness for the new AC and fridge. The house sits perfectly on the plot. The house was clean and Thomas / Janet were always there by 9am to tend to other matters. Joan, Dervin and G were accommodating and great to work with. They had the screen doors repaired and lubed as they didn’t move well.
Neutral: The house has a security system and a local nightly security guard. I appreciate safety but at the same time it made some of us uneasy. The security system is loud! No shortage of little bugs and ants. They don’t bite but you’ll find them in the kitchen and we would find ants crushed in the bed with us. You’ll hear critters running on the roof in the AM - the roofline and walls are sealed very well, no worries.
Con’s: The house is showing its age. It’s built very well, just needs a good craftsman to give it a once over. Our bedroom had some paint bubbling off the walls, some doors are warped and really loud, the shelving system in two of the bedrooms were pulled off the wall. We found 2 cockroaches, 1 in our bedroom and 1 in the common bathroom that we quickly killed. The dishwasher was serviced 4 times and never worked properly. The lounge chair brackets were rusted or broken on two of four. The umbrella could only be used about 5% of the time because it was flimsy – it flew out one day and needed to be repaired by Thomas. The wi-fi had difficulty connecting with our Apple devices. Weirdly enough, the one Android phone and Windows computer connected without issues the entire trip. The 4 iPads and 5 iPhones only had wi-fi for ½ the trip.
Overall, it was a quiet and fun house to visit – you rent it for the great pool, good ocean view, laid back local establishments and relaxing area. When I have time I will add notes to my trip advisor page."

"We stayed in March 2015. The location is fantastic and the sunsets are phenomenal. The House was great for our entire family. The pool is a excellent midday hideout from the heat of the afternoon. The house may be a bit dated for some tastes, but the location more than makes it a great get away. The view from the upper level deck is excellent all day long. The beach is so quiet and relaxing compared to resort areas.
Jorge is a outstanding host, he can arrange almost anything you may need or wish to do. He can make arrangements for dinner, fishing, kayaks, take you grocery shopping ,seafood delivers or sightseeing. He made our trip a fantastic get away. We hope to return in the future.
The Beach house restaurant and the Shack were great places to eat, and the Grill makes a great Mojito and Margarita. We went zip lining and followed that up with a short trip to Cocoa Beach for noon lunch for a half day get away."
