  • A Week in Paradise

"We just spent the past week in paradise. The accommodations were great and fit all of us (4 adults and 4 kids) perfectly. We loved the openness and the large outdoor space overlooking the ocean. It was the perfect place to watch the sunset every night. The kids got a lot of use of the pool and loved taking the boogie boards down to the ocean. The staff was very friendly. Olivier checked in with us every morning to see if we needed anything and Marissa ensured the place and our clothes stayed clean. The entire property is gated and has a security guard on site at night, so we always felt safe. Whenever we didn't want to cook for ourselves, we would venture out to one of the local establishments. A few that we visited and enjoyed were Coco Loco (right next door), Maries and the Monkey Bar both of which were about 600-700 meters away. The only two minor hiccups in our stay were the 24 hours where the water was shutoff for the entire town and our last night when the air conditioner stopped working in the casita where the kids were sleeping. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone that is looking for a house on the beach in Costa Rica."

  • GREAT PLACE MUST STAY

"Was there in October 2014. Everything was wonderful from the accommodations to the sunset and views. Truly all you need to bring is cloths personal items, and on your way in from the airport pick up what you want for meals. Everything is there to cook with and sit back and enjoy the sunsets with your dinner on the patio. Lots to do during the day close to here and the beaches are just sooo relaxing. Don't forget to use the pool it put relaxation to a new level."

  • Great location, beautiful beach

"Working with Sid was easy. he was very respectful of our privacy, but would respond any time we had a question. He has an absolutely beautiful villa at a reasonable price. We stayed in the larger villa on the middle floor. It was spotless when we arrived. We cooked in-home several times, and were not lacking for kitchen supplies for beans, rice, breakfasts, tacos, etc. Everything was there, and in good working order. He even had a colander. He gave us alternate directions to get to the Villa from SJO in order to avoid construction. He referred us to a pretty good tour operator who offered nice excursions for reasonable prices. His maid, Maritsa, was sweet and a great cook. She made us comida tipica one evening and it was REALLY really good. You should ask for her to cook for you. She was super timely with laundry - which meant we didn't have to pack as much! The villa itself is nestled in a hillside with a great view in the morning of the mountains. The pool below is a play-pool, which means that the water was quite warm in our week of travel. Still, after being beaten up by the ocean, it was very nice to just float and relax in the pool. The tropical landscaping around the property is very pretty. We saw a few interesting birds, and very pretty flowers. On our last morning, the howler monkeys gave us a show in the trees just outside the perimeter of the property. The walk to the beach is down a somewhat steep walk. You'll want to wear shoes. After being tossed around the ocean, the walk back up the hill can be a bit tiresome. It would be difficult for someone who lives a sedentary life, but just stop to breathe and you'll make it. Bring bug spray. Bring sunscreen. Bring shampoo. Sid provides shower soap, but it's what's available locally. The pix don't show bathrooms, but they were all very nice. Nice bath towels and linens. Beach towels were thin, but hey, dry off on the beach in the sun! The A/C worked just fine. In the hot week we were there, we opted to use it. Sid has you put down a cash deposit for damage. Just use the coasters to protect the finishes, and treat the place respectfully. He provides all the basic necessities and many nice amenites. Enjoy!!"

  • Nice house, great location

"Villa Buena Vista is a lovely property in Potrero Costa Rica. Jorge the property manager is very helpful and the directions to the house were great- thanks! Ernesto and Anna Maria(?) his wife are wonderful and are on the property full time to help out, clean, etc. Loved the house dogs- rusty, jack, Skye and I forget the big ones name- they are so friendly and they hung out with us on the deck every day! The house itself is set up on a hillside with amazing views, 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths and 1 half bath. Can walk to the beach but it is about a 1/4 mile so we drove- beaches are nice and pretty private. The house has a pool which we used every day- covered cabana, table & chairs and barbecue at the pool site. Birds all over and beautiful parrots everyday. Monkeys too! Only suggestions I would make- can use some new pots and pans for cooking - they are old and the non stick is pretty much all worn off. Need a new toaster too- it started sparking and did not toast well! Overall a nice place to stay Air conditioning in the bedrooms but not the living areas, however there are ceiling fans and even though the temperature was in the 90s during the day, it was much cooler in the morning and evening, besides who spends time in the house when outside is awesome! We spent all our time on the deck enjoying the view and birds. Table and chairs on the deck so we always ate out there. Potrero is nice and quiet and a short 30 minute drive to Tamarindo if you feel the need to see a real touristy beach town and Playa Flamingo is a short 10 minute drive- smaller than Tamarindo but still enough restaurants, shops and bars"
