  • "Where did you find this place?"

"This house was truly a wonderfully unique find that worked so well for our vacation with 18 of our closest family members. After several hours of searching for the perfect place for our group, we settled on this house for it's casual atmosphere, views, proximity to the beach, and layout. It didn't disappoint on any of those factors. It is a large piece of beautifully landscaped, ocean view property that is laid out in such a way that each individual family had a bit of privacy as well as enough comfortable lounging and dining space for everyone to be together. It is a well-loved home that is need of some cosmetic repairs and updates, but after we settled in, we were able to see the character and uniqueness of the house and appreciate it's unmatched location. Several updates have already been made and it is a work in progress. The pool was outstanding and well looked after by the grounds keeper. The beach was an easy walk, very clean, and nearly empty. There are quite a few steps around the property, for those with mobility issues. Ricardo, the owner/manager, does a wonderful job in helping to plan your vacation, not just rent you his house. He is always available for questions and provides tonnes of info for transport, meal planning, tours, etc. We decided to use a local chef to provide all our meals. He created excellent meals that were shopped for, prepped, served, and cleaned up at an extremely reasonable price. We highly recommend Miguel. We didn't rent a car, but were able to use the recommended transportation company to provide taxi service at a reasonable rate. A rental car wouldn't hurt, even for a few days. Contact Ricardo. He'll take it from there."

  • Unique and special place to stay, lush, close to beach.

"We arrived in Flamingo after dark with only the name of the 'casa' and general directions (which turned out to be accurate sort of in the light of day). After asking in many places the security of another beachfront place thought they might know which villa we were talking about and phoned to help us. People in CR are wonderful. We arrived to wake up the caretaker who wasn't expecting us. The unit had not been cleaned so we stayed the first night in a unit which had been cleaned. (this is typical for CR - non-resident owners German speaking, non-resident managers English speaking, resident staff spanish speaking, no communications. Next day the staff was up early and had our unit cleaned very nicely. This unit is called the 'treehouse' because there is the trunk of a tree in the centre holding the thatched roof up. There is one normal bedroom in the back, and the open loft bedroom up near the roof with a tiny wooden curved staircase going up the tree! Very cool. The benefit of owners/managers who were not on the ball was that we had the entire property too ourselves most of the week. The units are very nice, we were very satisfied with our treehouse and would return, and stay there again. The treehouse is bordering on 'rustic' but very livable. One thing to note is that the roof lets noise in (and out) You WILL hear monkeys in the early morning that sound like they are in bed with you! There are windows, but also many screened openings to let air in. The small pool shown above is shared, freezing and not private from the other units so don't get any ideas! There are a couple of small balconies, good for sitting or yoga. The house sits up a goat track that passes for a road (4wd not necessary) and those terrified of heights might be squeamish. The view, nature, breeze, weather, beach etc. were perfect, fantastic. The beach was the best I've ever been to in CR. Warm water, little tide/current, constant small waves to play in, clear water, little rays swimming in the waves (a couple of small water snakes sshh) warm sand. You can walk or drive to the beach. Walking back is great exercise, and the plunge pool is waiting. Flamingo beach itself is small and quiet but there is great diving (lots of sharks, turtles, mantas, pelagic fish and other stuff - and whales too apparently but I didn't see them) Plan to cook your own meals, siesta, make love, read, swim, sleep, repeat. You will cry when it is time to go Pura Vida"

  • Great view

"We spent 8 nights in this condo. The sunset from the balconies are hard to beat. The décor was modern and comfortable. The kitchen was stocked well with dishes and pans. They were lacking in mixing bowls and there were no spices (salt and pepper) at all. The internet worked well and was fast. The bed was to firm for us and gave my husband a backache. We had problems with one of the showers. Bluewaters sent someone out very fast to look at it. They got it going but unfortunately the pressure never was good in that shower so we stopped using it. The water pressure is not that great anyway. The electricity went out for short periods of time about half a dozen times but was always restored fairly quickly. The beach is beautiful and just a short walk away but the short walk back is very steep as is walking just about anyplace. This is good exercise but beware during the heat of the day. The surf has a strong undertow and was not good for swimming. We saw whales, rays, dolphins and some other type of large fish. The pool is at the top of the complex. We got more noise from the pool at the neighboring resort than the pool at Oceanica. The pool here was never crowded and shaded as the afternoon went on. There are not a lot of shops, etc close and is more a place to relax, walk the beach and watch sunsets which is what we like. A car is needed to get out and about but they can be rented by the day as we did for exploring. Mateo can organize this and they deliver and pick up the car at the condo."

  • Excelente or Superb

"We traveled to Costa Rica for our first time with 2 teenagers and 2 preteens. When we arrived at Villa Buena Vista, we were all very impressed with the layout, the grounds, the views and overall ambiance. The home is furnished very well with a great kitchen, wonderful pool which felt very good at the end of the day. The maid and groundskeeper just added to the overall experience. The two beaches close by are exceptional and relatively quiet. Jorge, the property manager, was a real asset and always very helpful. All in all, we give it our highest recommendation. We cannot wait to go back!!!!"
