"My family of 4 travels really well with 3 other families/amazing friends of ours. This was our 2nd annual Spring Break shared Vacation. There is no way I will be able to say enough about what an incredible time we all had at Casa Playa Bonita.
Where do I start? Lisa is so prompt and pleasant and made planning our trip a breeze. She and Yoko answered all of our questions immediately. Yoko will book your transportation and any day trips, she will make reservations for dinner, she is available to answer any questions at any time before and during your stay. When I called, she picked up. We were taken care of. Herman and Blanca were a dynamic duo for sure. Blanca is one stealth woman! She was like a ghost. We bought tons of fruit and she would cut it for us every morning and set it out without anyone seeing her. Any time we would try and wash a glass or dish she would stop us. She cleaned our rooms every day and I swear I rarely ever saw her! Herman and Blanca have perma-grins and they are wonderful human beings. Make sure you arrange at least one dinner cooked for you. They made us the BEST Tuna we've ever had. Even the non seafood eaters tried it and loved it!
Casa Playa Bonita is a perfectly designed home. 4 families, 14 people and there was plenty of privacy when needed. Best location, gorgeous sunsets, steps to the beach, a quick walk to Coco Loco's. It's like you have your own private resort. Coffee every morning looking out at the ocean, listening to birds and watching dragonflies buzz by was so incredibly relaxing. We rented sea-do's down the beach, kayaked and paddle AND boogie boarded right in front of the house. Fish would swim between our legs and the kids saw a sting ray. There were no vendors bugging you on the beach, it's super mellow and GORGEOUS. White sand and clear water. Yoko set us up with a 4 wheel/canopy tour and everyone had a great time. So much so that the kids decided to go on a 4 wheeling guided tour later in the week to ride again. We swam in the pool for hours and took advantage of the kiddie pool to float because we have no little ones. I want to be floating right now! Read the house book that Lisa will provide front to back. Everything you need is in there. We cooked in the amazing kitchen, went to Angelina's for dinner (tried octopus and LOVED) and there were daily walks to Coco Loco's for a coco loco served in a coconut. YES! I want to write more and I'm being cut off so....JUST GO. We can't wait to return. Pura Vida!!"

"We traveled with a group of 11, ages 4 through 76. We had plenty of space and comfortable sleeping arrangements. Erika the maid arrived daily at around 8 and cleaned all the rooms and did some laundry. A nightwatchman was there from 6pm until 6am. He maintained the garden, cleaned the pool and hung around the pool deck while we slept. They were both pleasant but spoke no English. The outdoor kitchen and pool deck was our living room for the week, from sun up sun down.
We paid $350 for a cook, Andreas. She prepared a great guacamole and salsa for hungry travelers, and had already grocery shopped for the first day's dinner. We sent a menu ideas for the first few days via email, based on the menu available on the beach house website, but this may have been too much detail. Two of us sat with her Sunday morning to develop the menu for the week. She spoke a little English but communication was challenging, and she asked us to be very specific about menu and timing, but offered little guidance. Two of us accompanied her on the one grocery store trip near Tamarindo (we took a taxi). We probably could not have found everything we needed without her! She made some nice meals but I think if we could have communicated more easily, we may have hit upon more of her specialties. The breakfast on the last day, huevos rancheros, was delicious. We have never had someone cook for us and it was a wonderful luxury. Consider suggesting a daily menu of tried and true meals for groups that are the house chef's specialty, and just letting us decide if we want it.
Coco Loco bar and restaurant is literally right next door. Tasty drinks, music and a way to meet new people. We could leave the teens at the house to watch the smaller kids while the parents had a a happy hour cocktail - we could see them on the deck from our bar stools! It was about a 10 minute walk to the Flamingo Beach plaza with Marie's restaurant, an ice cream stand, souvenirs, tour operator and convenience store (this is where we shopped for beer). A car is not necessary at this property but I missed having one. There were many spots a few miles up the road, the beach house restaurant to the Shack to a fruit stand, we would have liked to explore. There were no bike rentals so this wasn't an option. A few beat up taxi's hang out outside Maries, but they get expensive since once they take you somewhere, they need to wait for you to finish to bring you home."

"This was an absolute fantastic vacation. The villa was magnificent. The pictures do not do it justice. It is everything that is stated. The pool is huge with the swim-up an added plus. Watching the night time thundershowers in the tower is one of our best times. The howler monkeys were in the trees and did not let us down. We had a great time zip-lining and 4 wheeling, Victor is a great guide."

"I couldn't have found a nicer place to live for 7 weeks! All of the amenities here to enjoy a wonderful and relaxing vacation. I enjoyed my daily walks to the beach and to places in and around Playa Flamingo. The CPI school is less than a mile away so I took some Spanish lessons while I was here. The condo has WiFi, cable TV, a well appointed kitchen and 2 great bedrooms with televions and private baths. The balcony offers a picnic type table as well as 4 Costa Rican rocking chairs that you'll love sitting in while you look over Portrero Bay. The front door has a gorgeous view of trees below as well as of the Pacific Ocean and its sunsets. In short, a grand place to stay while vacationing in Playa Flamingo, CR."
