  • Good House, Excellent Location, Beautiful Beach!

"Our extended family stayed for a week at Casa Surfside in March 2014. We flew to Liberia & rented a 8-passenger mini-van to cart everyone around. The van allowed freedom to travel anywhere at any time. The 3BR house has everything we needed and it's location is fantastic. The grounds and pool are very well maintained and groomed. The rental house is the upstairs level of the house. The house is directly on the beach!Playa Portrero is beautiful, low key, mellow, un-crowded. The atmosphere is laid-back and tropical. There is some crime, so please be aware. The air conditioning & fans work great to keep the house cool. Bedding and 2 bathrooms are adequate. No complaints there. The interior of the house has some minor issues which did not bother me, but some people are picky. Your beer & cocktails will be chillin' in the fridge & the house comes with a large propane BBQ! You come to Casa Surfside for the pool, beach, and location! We filled up on supplies at the SuperCompro in Huacas (average quality) & at the AutoMercado in Tamrindo (nice supermarket). There are several decent restaurants within a fifteen minute drive. If you want touristy crap, you can always go to Tamarindo for the day! The ocean is cooling to swim in, since it is quite hot during the afternoons. We experienced 1-2 foot waves, which were fun to play in & safer for the kids. The visibility for snorkeling, however, can be quite poor. We brought 3mil wetsuits which we used when we stayed in the water for extended time. We also made a trip to a public beach at Playa Danta to the north, which was very enjoyable....shade trees to picnic on the beach, better visibility for snorkeling. We made several day-long trips in our van. Jorge, the caretaker from downstairs, is happy to arrange day trips & provide recommendations. Here are the highlights of our trip: 1) Zip-lines & monkey holding at the Congo Trail Canopy Tour...awesome fun! 2) Sailing, snorkeling, & lunch on the Lazy Lizard catamaran. Groove to some reggae! The great crew poured endless cocktails & even caught a tuna for sushi! 3) Small eco-Zoo on the highway near Belen. Interesting. Can be visited on the way from the airport. 4) Sugar Plantation Tour and guided River-Boat Tour at Hacienda El Viejo and El Viejo Wetlands. Bring the camera! Lots of wildlife...very enjoyable & historic! 5) Visited the sea-side town of Tamarindo. Went shopping for t-shirts, trinkets, & tourist crap. Had lunch. Went to AutoMercado!"

  • Texan traveller

"We really enjoyed our week's stay at this condo. It was as advertised, only much better! Our favorite room was the outdoor patio overlooking Flamingo beach. It was such a treat enjoying the long days, the soothing sound of the ocean, and the vibrant sunsets outside. Inside was equally comfortable and attractively furnished. We utilized the kitchen, well-stocked with silverware, flatware, and dishwasher, daily and were glad to have the washer and dryer in the adjoining room. The living/dining room area was pleasant; the bedrooms and bathrooms with exra-roomy showers were great. We would highly recommend both this condo and the rental couple to those anticipatipating a stay in Guanacaste, Costa Rica."

  • Memorable Family Vacation

"What memories we made at the Casa! Our family of 17, ranging in age from 2-85, enjoyed this comfortable home with its great pool and easy access to the beach. We spent hours playing in the sand, jumping in the waves, resting in the shade of the covered patio, and swimming in the pool. The adults took frequent walks to Coco Loco for afternoon refreshments. One highlight was having a wonderful catered dinner on the patio. We also spent a day of adventure on the Congo Trail zip line and boating on the river where we had close up views of monkeys, macaws, lizards, and crocodiles. The Casa was spacious with enough room for everyone. My only wish was that we could have stayed another week!"

  • Better Than You Could Ever Imagine!

"The moment you wake up and head out to the balcony with your coffee in hand to enjoy the Amazing view, you'll be hooked! We were!!! The apartment was absolutely wonderful! It was fully equipped with everything you would need. There were also toys (boogie boards, snorkeling equipment, etc) for your pleasure! The apartment itself is very clean and very well kept. We used and Loved both pools that were at the condo. One for morning and the other for the afternoon! The use of the facilities at the Flamingo Beach Resort were an added bonus and we did spend time there as well! We ended each of our days back on the balcony watching the boats coming in from their daily activities. All in all just an Amazing apartment with an Amazing view! Loved it! Thanks for everything Doug!"
