  • Quiet and peacefull

"Pro’s: The house sits on a beautiful and peaceful piece of beach. On average I’d say there were no more than 20 other people walking/playing on the 3 miles of coast. The ocean is warm, waves were perfect for a 4 year old and the undertow was light. Boogie boarding was a daily ritual. The pool was engineered perfectly, shallow part for kids, deep portion for adults and a nice sitting area in the other corner. Weather was consistent, ~95, ~75 no clouds. Thank goodness for the new AC and fridge. The house sits perfectly on the plot. The house was clean and Thomas / Janet were always there by 9am to tend to other matters. Joan, Dervin and G were accommodating and great to work with. They had the screen doors repaired and lubed as they didn’t move well. Neutral: The house has a security system and a local nightly security guard. I appreciate safety but at the same time it made some of us uneasy. The security system is loud! No shortage of little bugs and ants. They don’t bite but you’ll find them in the kitchen and we would find ants crushed in the bed with us. You’ll hear critters running on the roof in the AM - the roofline and walls are sealed very well, no worries. Con’s: The house is showing its age. It’s built very well, just needs a good craftsman to give it a once over. Our bedroom had some paint bubbling off the walls, some doors are warped and really loud, the shelving system in two of the bedrooms were pulled off the wall. We found 2 cockroaches, 1 in our bedroom and 1 in the common bathroom that we quickly killed. The dishwasher was serviced 4 times and never worked properly. The lounge chair brackets were rusted or broken on two of four. The umbrella could only be used about 5% of the time because it was flimsy – it flew out one day and needed to be repaired by Thomas. The wi-fi had difficulty connecting with our Apple devices. Weirdly enough, the one Android phone and Windows computer connected without issues the entire trip. The 4 iPads and 5 iPhones only had wi-fi for ½ the trip. Overall, it was a quiet and fun house to visit – you rent it for the great pool, good ocean view, laid back local establishments and relaxing area. When I have time I will add notes to my trip advisor page."

  • Paradise

"Congratulations! If you are reading this review, you have just made the best discovery you will ever make. My husband and I found Casa Doshack four years ago, and we have returned for longer and longer stays each winter since that time. It is truly a perfect little cottage in the midst of a tropical paradise. Located directly on the quiet end of a long, beautiful beach, Casa Doshack has been (and will continue to be) a wonderful place for us to relax, recharge, and enjoy a peaceful break from our busy lives at home. Here is a sample of our typical day at Casa Doshack: We rise early and take a run or walk on the approximately 1½ mile beach, which is nearly deserted at sunrise. Then we drink coffee and visit as we sit in rocking chairs on the veranda, which looks out over the ocean. We spend the mornings reading or writing or taking pictures of the exotic wildlife, which surrounds us in the beautiful garden. We usually go for a swim in the ocean or take another walk along the beach. Then we prepare lunch in our fully-equipped kitchen and eat at the big table on the veranda, or we wander down the beach to one of the many restaurants in Tamarindo. After lunch, we have time for more reading or we take a snooze in one of the hammocks in the lanai on the edge of the property overlooking the beach. Sometimes we go on an excursion in the afternoon, or we stroll into town to pick up groceries, visit the Farmer’s Market, or shop at the many boutiques and gift stores lining the streets of Tamarindo. We always make time for another swim and another walk. At dusk we make our way to the beach for a view of the gorgeous sunset. In the evening, we prepare dinner on the grill and dine on the veranda or stroll along the beach one more time for dinner at a restaurant. We look forward to settling into our comfy bed where the sound of the ocean and the feel of the breeze lulls us to sleep. Kathy Doshack, the owner of Casa Doshack, goes out of her way to take care of her guests, arranging activities and transportation and offering great advice and information. Her cheerful housekeeper Illeana keeps the house in order and will cook wonderful Costa Rican meals upon request. The friendly gardener Manuel entertains us as he maintains the pristine garden. To give an adequate description of the virtues of this wonderful place would take many more paragraphs, but you really need to experience Casa Doshack for yourself to understand its magic."

  • Amazing Large Group Vacation

"We just finished the most amazing holiday ever at Casa Puros Dieces. The pictures on VRBO make the place look great but really don't do it justice. We were a group 6 of families with 21 people (yes, twenty-one people) and there was room for everyone: room in the pool, room for quiet get-away spots to read by yourself, room to sun on the deck, room for the group to gather all together for meals, lots of room! The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, each with their own bathroom. The house staff were friendly and hard working. House manager Chris was very helpful with suggestions and arrangements for restaurants and activities. The villa was an easy walk into town for shopping or dining, or to the beach for surfing or relaxing. Tamarindo is well-located to get you all sorts of fun day-trips like zip-lining, ATVing, or river tours. Before we arrived, the staff connected us with the necessary airport transfers and also activities with outstanding guides. Everyone in our group loved Costa Rica, loved Tamarindo, but especially loved Casa Puros Dieces. I would highly recommend staying at Casa Puros Dieces to anyone considering the Tamarindo experience."

  • Amazing place to stay-with the best pool!

"Our family of 4 stayed at this beautiful property for 10 days. The pool was absolutely fantastic and exceeded our expectations in size and cleanliness. Mike, the thoughtful owner, came by every morning before 6 to clean the pool. The gardens surrounding the home were beautiful and made it very private! The beach was one of the best we have ever been to. Perfect for both children and avid surfers. It was also nice to be away from the more crowded Tamarindo beach. There were amazing dining options close and we also prepared our own meals. We would definitely stay here again!!!!"
