"Beautiful setting! Loved having coffee and tea on the veranda. Nicely setup roomy condo. It was great to have a washer and dryer as we got some refreshed clothes mid-trip. Some tour guides (though older) were available.
Nice neighbors--we lost power due to a storm--luckily they called the power company to get things in motion to get this fixed quickly.
Ed was helpful, meeting us to handover the keys.
Nice Italian place and breakfast place a couple of miles South.
Bed wasn't the most comfortable, and didn't quite feel like home. Would have been nice if there was aan active phone.
All in all, good place and would go there again."

"This was my second visit to Villa Encantada! After the first visit in 2010, my daughter decided this was the place to get married! We returned with a group of 30+. The bridal party(14) stayed at the Villa and Glenn helped to place the rest of us in properties close by, including his sister's house up the hill. The whole event could not have been better! Let me say that Glenn is a great guy and incredible host! If you want to experience the best of Costa Rica, stay with Glenn at the Villa! The grounds are as beautiful as the pictures indicate and you can be entertained right on the property. The Tabacon Lodge and Skywalk at Volcanoes National Park are under one hour drive. Shopping and dining in Nuevo Arenal has a true Tico feel and much better than dealing with the big tourist towns. Pura Vida! Thank you Glenn!"

"We stayed at Casa Sullo for two weeks from March 1 to 15, 2015. It is going to be difficult to cover a 14 day stay in a short report for others to read in a few moments. The house is in an ideal location. It sits on a hillside overlooking Lake Arenal. The view from the rear deck is an evening paradise. We spent most evenings sitting there for an hour before sunset enjoying the view and wild life that would drop by for us to see. We had Toucan birds on five different evenings, a howler monkey one evening for an hour before sunset until he settled in for a night’s sleep just above our heads. There are so many different birds that we will never identify all the species.
We did day trips from the house to see a coffee plantation, Hermosa Beach, La Fortuna, Town of Arenal, Frog Hall, Tilaran and a weekend trip to San Jose. The location of Casa Sullo works well for easy trips to many sights in west central Costa Rica. The Puerto San Luis club restaurant is a few hundred feet away and San Jose is a 3 and a half hour drive. Super Market is 15 minutes to Tilaran. The property manager is a phone call away, and if needed is very responsive. She even invited us into her home to see a sloth sleeping in a tree outside her living room. The local people are very friendly and helpful. We never felt that we were anything but secure and welcome.
Casa Sullo is a fully furnished, comfortable two bedroom home. The grounds are lush, and fun to explore. Since we have returned home some of our friends have asked if we would go back again in the future. I answer, absolutely; we have already begun a savings account for just that.
By the way, Pat, the owner, provided a lot of helpful information on what to do and see in the area. He spent a great amount of time on the phone with us before our trip. His guidance was accurate, timely and helpful. Our take away from the whole experience is a warm and peaceful joy for the country, the home, and the wonderful friends that we made in a two week adventure that makes us want to go back. WOW!"

"My wife and I chose Casa Gavilan as a launching point for our 4 days in Arenal (and first stay ever in Costa Rica). We wanted a place that would accommodate the two of us and our three teen-aged boys comfortably, be accessible to Arenal and all the surrounding activities and then be there for a quite place to enjoy our evenings. Casa Gavilan delivered!
We flew into LIR and drove the 2 hours to Casa Gavilan. We were greeted by Ed, the Property Manager. Ed (even though he went to Duke) was quite kind and very helpful in getting us acquainted with the house, the property, where to go for things in Nuevo Arenal and what outfits to use for our activities while in the area. Ed connected us to Chef Jeff, who, on short notice (our fault), came to the house our first night, prepared a wonderful dinner for all of us and made us feel that much more comfortable. Ed even helped me manage a slightly sticky parking situation I got into with a local establishment.
Casa Gavilan is situated about 1 mile from the main road circling the Lake in a very well established neighborhood with similar houses called Las Flores. The lots are all large enough to provide plenty of personal privacy. The house was plenty spacious and had all of the conveniences we needed. The pool was a great hit on the first night, as were the many species of local birds that frequented the property. Agree with other reviewers that the pictures don't do the property justice. We would have enjoyed a larger view of the lake, but that didn't detract from our stay in any way (first world problem :-)).
Downtown Nuevo Arenal is about a ten minute drive from the house. The main activities of the larger Arenal area -- various hot springs, Arenal volcano park, hanging bridges, ziplining, etc are all a 30-45 minute drive from the house. For our taste and preferences, we were very happy to have chosen Casa Gavilan and the 30-45 minute drive compared to staying in hotels/etc that were embedded in the Arenal activity area.
Wonderful property, Ed's top notch service and being close enough to all that Arenal has to offer while having a quite place to call home for a few days are why I recommend Casa Gavilan to you!"
