  • Costa Rican family looking for a great place to rest and enjoy the best beach in Costa Rica, Pelada

"What a wonderful surprise it was to arrive to Casa BandA to find the most beautiful place I've been in Nosara! As soon as you get into the owners property it seems you are at another world, everything is so clean, well kept and quiet. I am a teacher so my search for vacation places is intense trying to find the perfect vacation house to rest and be in a silent place. The apartment rented was pristine, imagine what a task with the dust that arrives every summer in Guanacaste. Another great surprise was to find an excellent kitchen equipped for a pro. I am a good cook and always travel with my kitchen utensils. Never needed at this place because they even had good spices to share with the person that rents the house. The pool one of the cleanest I've seen and with good chairs to sit and read in a very peaceful ambiance. The owner is available at all time in case you need something. All in all, I highly recommend this house for the best vacation ever in Playa Pelada, Nosara, Guanacaste."

  • Perfect Setting, Home, and Owners

"Our rental home was perfect for us. Two bedrooms. We had the girls use the master bedroom because of the extra futons. Both bedrooms had decks, bathrooms, showers, and ACs, which we did use at night. The first night I thought someone was moving furniture in the house, but it was the male howler monkeys making their presence known. They sound like gorillas!! Soooo cute though. Downstairs is spacious with a big dining room table, a living room, and fully supplied kitchen. There was a kitchen bar with two stools. Internet and country phone service was provided by the owner. Internet service was unpredictable. At times, we borrowed the wifi signal from the condos next door but that was spotty as well. I didn't care but my wife and one daughter were frustrated. If Internet or texting is important to you, then it may be worth researching options with your cellular company. I was looking forward to disconnecting from the world, so I did.........except for the occasional Facebook post or sports update. The house is very secured with multiple locks, a fence, security system, and neighboring security guard for condo association, which is where you have pool access. What a nice pool as there is shade and fresh water when you need a break from the beach. I awoke around 600am every morning out of habit. My daughter and I would take a run on the beach or on the roads. The house is a 1 minute walk to the Pelada beach, which is quiet, beautiful and with big waves. Great boogie boarding. Some surfing but there is a lot more surfing on the next beach, to the south, Guiones, which is more than a mile long and has a lot of action going on compared to Pelada beach. There is short trail to connect the two beaches. Groceries. We opted to eat out almost all meals. In hind sight, we should have visited the local vegetable and fruit stand on day one. Fresh fruit for our morning smoothies and veggies for our lunch salads were within minutes but we didn't stop there until day 5. Go there on Day 1! Mark and Paige are top notch owners. Communication during the whole rental agreement process and before/during our stay was exceptional. Eduardo, the local manager, is nearby for any day to day issues, but we had none. Could write more but space is limited. Thank you Paige and Mark! Pura Vida!"

  • A wonderful vacation home but not for everyone

"We spent a lovely relaxing week in this villa with our 3 adult children. The magnificent view from the pool & terrace area is breath taking. The property is well equipped, well maintained and very spacious but has obviously been well used e.g the towels were quite old and it would have been useful had there been different ones for pool and house use. Some of the glass ware had also seen better days. There is excellent WIFI reception. The house is situated on the hillside with magnificent views overlooking Playa Guiones far below and is cool and airy during the heat of the day. It is reached via a long driveway through the trees ; while we were there none of the neighbouring properties (the closest of which was about 100 metres away) were occupied adding to the sense of isolation. I found this together with the security measures (there is no alarm) rather unnerving. Although there were grills and bars on all of the external windows and doors many of the doors themselves were unlocked which seemed a little strange. We raised this with both the lovely maid and property manager who seemed unconcerned. I would have been very unhappy at the property had my children been younger. The large master suite is on the same level as the kitchen and both internal and external living spaces while the other two bedrooms and bathrooms are accessed via a long outside staircase at the bottom of which is a metal door that has to be separately locked. I also don't think that the pool terrace would be particularly safe for very young children. It was wonderful to wake in the morning to the sound of the troop of howler monkeys crossing the property and to watch the amazing variety of birds ( including vultures that came to drink in the pool !)After 10 days travelling throughout Costa Rica all we really wanted to do while in Nosara was to relax at either the house or the beach and the house was perfect for this. A car preferably a 4WD is essential as the house is a good 5 min drive from the village where there are a number of very good places to eat. The owner was very pleasant and efficient to deal with. Once I had overcome my nervousness during the night time we had a fantastic stay in this lovely property."

  • Great private cottage near everything

"My husband and I stayed here for 15 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time. We were here for the end of the dry season so had to deal with nightly water shut-offs (typically from 9pm - 6am) and occasional power outages. Nothing inhibiting at all to our stay. We rented bicycles to get around the village (with surf racks). The roads are very rustic so if you want to go exploring, I HIGHLY recommend renting AWD vehicle or a 4-wheeler. We surfed almost everyday, took may yoga classes at Nosara Yoga Institute, relaxed, etc. The hammocks are really great. The shower(s) had plenty of hot water. Everything in the kitchen and the wifi worked great. The cottage has two other cottages nearby but the plants around the porch help you feel like you are in your own private oasis. One of the neighbors were a really friendly Canadian couple visiting. The other neighbors were not so friendly and had dogs that barked ALL the time. Kind of frustrating at first but we learned to deal with it. The bed is reasonably comfy. It is a firm bed which I like but my husband prefers a softer mattress so he struggled the first few nights to get comfortable. The cottage is very clean and neat. We opted for the a/c which was a really nice break from the heat (mid-90s) and helped us sleep better. The cottage is very secure but you need to bring your things in at night - we left some items drying on the clothesline overnight and had some theft (as did our neighbors). The local food is delicious - fresh pineapple, coconut, watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, mangoes and other fresh veggies. I highly recommend checking out Tibidabo. It was an excellent Spanish Tapas restaurant. The prices of things in this area are fairly high for Latin America. Expect to pay American prices. Almost everyone speaks english here. The sunsets are AMAZING and it's a great time to surf. When you get to Guiones Beach, take a left and walk 100-300 meters for waves. These waves are great for novice surfing. The waves to the right are much larger and stronger - where the good surfers go. They are really fun to watch! This is a great beach for all levels surfing. Playa Pelada, just north is a really nice beach to visit and hang at with 2 restaurants with beach views and cool rocky ledges along the beach to explore. Take the beach there at low tide. All in all, a fantastic stay. Jason, the owner was very easy to communicate with as well as Virginie and Ivan, the property managers."
