  • Fantastic Vacation Rental

"Our second stay at this beautiful private hilltop retreat. Lovely, spacious, well stocked house with awesome pool and deck. The ocean views are endless and the breezes amazing. Sunset happy hours and napping in the hammock on the covered patio were so relaxing. Especially enjoyed poolside bird watching and hearing howler monkeys. Close to the playa and amenities, but secluded and secure. Can't wait to return!"

  • Perfect Setting, Home, and Owners

"Our rental home was perfect for us. Two bedrooms. We had the girls use the master bedroom because of the extra futons. Both bedrooms had decks, bathrooms, showers, and ACs, which we did use at night. The first night I thought someone was moving furniture in the house, but it was the male howler monkeys making their presence known. They sound like gorillas!! Soooo cute though. Downstairs is spacious with a big dining room table, a living room, and fully supplied kitchen. There was a kitchen bar with two stools. Internet and country phone service was provided by the owner. Internet service was unpredictable. At times, we borrowed the wifi signal from the condos next door but that was spotty as well. I didn't care but my wife and one daughter were frustrated. If Internet or texting is important to you, then it may be worth researching options with your cellular company. I was looking forward to disconnecting from the world, so I did.........except for the occasional Facebook post or sports update. The house is very secured with multiple locks, a fence, security system, and neighboring security guard for condo association, which is where you have pool access. What a nice pool as there is shade and fresh water when you need a break from the beach. I awoke around 600am every morning out of habit. My daughter and I would take a run on the beach or on the roads. The house is a 1 minute walk to the Pelada beach, which is quiet, beautiful and with big waves. Great boogie boarding. Some surfing but there is a lot more surfing on the next beach, to the south, Guiones, which is more than a mile long and has a lot of action going on compared to Pelada beach. There is short trail to connect the two beaches. Groceries. We opted to eat out almost all meals. In hind sight, we should have visited the local vegetable and fruit stand on day one. Fresh fruit for our morning smoothies and veggies for our lunch salads were within minutes but we didn't stop there until day 5. Go there on Day 1! Mark and Paige are top notch owners. Communication during the whole rental agreement process and before/during our stay was exceptional. Eduardo, the local manager, is nearby for any day to day issues, but we had none. Could write more but space is limited. Thank you Paige and Mark! Pura Vida!"

  • Home away from Home

"Stayed at this house Dec 2013 and LOVED IT! We returned to Guiones March 17th,2015 and were in a different house on Playa Pelada but weren't happy there. I inquired about Casa Feliz and it was, luckily, available. Being able to stay here was the icing on the cake for us. Thanks to the property manager, Bobbi, for watching her emails and responding to our need to switch properties. We had a lovely visit with her. She can help you with any questions you have about the area, etc. The house has a great layout and everything one needs, clean, and secure in the evening thanks to our dear buddy Pedro. As suggested, bring your bikes, shoes, etc, in at night or they might not be there in the morning....it is just the way it is. Comfy beds and three bathrooms were an asset for sure. Be aware that during the height of the dry season Nosara area has water conservation measures in place whereby they turn the entire water supply off from 9pm - 7am. There were large bottles of water under the sink that we'd use during this time. We had no problem with this and adjusted accordingly. We had a wonderful early morning monkey show as the troop traveled through the trees on the property, adults and babies, beautiful creatures. The resident iguanas are entertaining to watch, as are the birds and other critters that wonder through the yard on their way to where ever. The pool was lovely first thing in the morning, during the mid-day heat when we were off the beach, before dinner upon returning from a sunset swim in the ocean and sometimes when we returned from dinner. We rented bicycles from the Frog Pad.....such a fun carefree way to get around Guiones....less than 10 min to bike to the beach. We loved the house and hope that it is available the next time we are lucky enough to visit Nosara. Thanks to the owners for sharing their home. Pura Vida!"

  • Best spot in Nosara

"We (along with two other couples) had the pleasure of staying at Ginger Powers' Rancho Authentico for a week. We arrived after dark from Liberia, and Ginger was there to greet us and show us around. When we woke up the next morning, we couldn't believe it -- breathtaking beach, sunshine galore, and all of the beach amenities you could want -- lounge chairs, towels, outdoor shower, it was fantastic. Photos don't do it justice. It's bigger and better than the photos (and the photos look really fabulous). Before our trip, Ginger was very responsive on e-mail and helped us connect with local fruit/meat vendors who were able to deliver food before we arrived. There's a new gas range in the house that worked great, as did the blender for fruity cocktails. The craziest thing about this place is how quiet and un-touristy Playa Garza is. Many days, we were the only people on the beach. We felt as though we had an entire cove to ourselves. There were several funky beach bars that we could walk to at night (again - NO crowds and amazing star gazing). Playa Giones is a short 10 minute car ride away for more restaurants and shops. And, you can catch a boat for a fishing trip right there on the beach. We did several excursions, but also entertained ourselves in the water by body surfing and boogie boarding. The waves at Garza are tame enough for recreational swimming -- occasionally, the waves were good enough for actual surfing. But Guiones and its big surf was so close, it's not a big deal to travel where you want. Plaza Garza is VERY clean. Clean beach, clean water, no signs of pollution, jelly fish, etc. It's a PERFECT beach! We are still dreaming about this place and need to figure out when we can return. A couple of things we noted for future travelers: Bring ear plugs if road noise or high wind noise bothers you. We had a couple of very windy nights at the house with almonds/coconuts falling on the tin roof most of the night. Also, the house is right off the village road, and rush hour in Costa Rica is much earlier than in the U.S. (think, 5:30a.m.). Since the house is open-air, all of these sounds travel right into the house. Also, bring plenty of sunscreen if you don't want to fry (we ran out of sunscreen on the last day -- oops!). Ginger -- We will be back!"
