  • Tropical paradise, the essence of PURA VIDA

"I echo the sentiments of all the other reviewers as far as how special a place Familia Feliz is for your Costa Rica destination. The room, the outdoor shower and kitchen and the staff are awesome. There is plenty to do here to fill a week without leaving the Nosara area. I wanted to fill you in on a wonderful adventure we had on our last day in Nosara. We had planned to hike in the Wildlife Refuge (Lagarta Lodge) because I and my family love to discover wildlife especially birds, but found out the day before that it was closed for a week and wouldn't reopen until after we had left. So we chanced a visit to Fishing Nosara because they advertised eco-tours on their sign. We signed up mostly because we found out that the guide was a lifelong local and he would take you to a farm for a Costa Rican lunch. Well his name was Javier and he grew up along the Nosara river just outside Nosara town, a property where his mother still lives. His brother Eduardo and his family live on a farm nearby and that was where lunch was served. As we walked along Javier showed us an ancient Indian burial ground, a hidden waterfall, he picked fruit off trees and peeled it for us (mangoes, starfruit--he even cracked a coconut and let us drink the water and eat the soft fleshy "apple" inside). He pointed out birds in foliage we would never have seen, and lizards on a branch overhanging the river that when he shook the branch they fell in the water and then proceeded to walk on water to get to shore. I've seen this feat on nature shows, I never thought I would see it in real life! But the lasting memory was to have Eduardo show us his farm and then take us into his home for the most fabulous lunch imaginable. It was chicken and potatoes, pork, rice, beans, special hot peppers, salad, tortilla shells still hot from the frypan, and cheese-the most glorious cheese that they made just for us that morning--I know I'm missing things because the table was loaded with food. I couldn't begin to describe the wonderful feeling I get when I think about the kindness these people showed us. I don't know if you know the family I speak of, but if you do and you see them when you're at FF, please thank them again for us, and be sure to recommend this tour to your other guests if they are eco-minded (it can be done on horseback as well). This was just one of the wonderful people we met while in the area. If you want to immerse yourself and live like a local, this is the place. PURA VIDA"

  • Perfect getaway house!

"Our group of 4 adults had an amazing week at this house in Nosara. We walked to the beach daily, rented surfboards from one of the local surf shops, walked to the yoga institute a couple days, went fishing out of the next village over in Garza, went ziplining with the Miss Sky group, and would always finish everyday just hanging in and around the pool. Gosh, I really miss sitting in those rocking chairs. I could've probably slept there each night. The best part of the house was that you can completely open up the back wall to look over the infiniti pool and out into the jungle. The monkeys would be playing and eating in the trees around dinner time so you can be inside eating at the table or just rocking away but still feel like your outside. The house is located up on a hill so you get this amazing breeze throughout the entire place so you really didn't even need the AC. We turned it on only when we went to sleep. Other details we loved about the house was that everything was very clean, wifi worked great, and security was of no concern. Also, the property manager Tiffany was so nice to work with to get directions, information, anything you wanted or needed. We only ate out a couple meals since my husband is a chef but the best thing was that the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. He really appreciated that. While he cooked, I played bartender and again we had everything we needed from lots of glasses to a blender to make some icy, cold drinks. Now this was our 2nd time to Nosara so we knew the Section K neighborhood but didn't rent this house before. We would certainly rent this house again if available. THANK YOU!!!"

  • Loved Barefoot Villa!!!

"I just returned from 2 weeks in Nosara and was lucky enough to stay at Barefoot Villa. This home was the perfect fit for my family of six, which consists of 4 kids (ages 8-14). Any family or group would love staying here! Barefoot Villa looked exactly like the photos. When we arrived there were no surprises, which is wonderful after a long day of travel. There were plenty of surf boards, a couple boogie boards, and 4 bikes that worked well. Nina, their cook worked out great and was very reliable. Laura the housekeeper was also very nice. Their english is limited, so if your Spanish is limited (like mine), you will have to be patient =). Also, I felt very comfortable with the alarm system and the security guard at night was great. He would always meet us at the door when arriving home after dark with a flashlight to assist us. The only thing I think I would do differently next time would be rent a car for the entire trip. I gets dark early (around 6 p.m. and it was the rainy season) so getting around town for dinner was tough. Also, the town is fairly spread out. There is so much to do and explore in the surrounding area a car is a must. I will be back for sure! Perfect trip for my wild and crazy family! Also, monkeys will be a part of your stay here. We saw them in the trees at least a couple of times a day right behind the house. They also like to howl nice and loud right before sunrise…it's great!!!"

  • Location Location Location

"We rented this home for a month in Nosara/Playa Guiones. Through sheer luck we believe this was the best deal possible. On the flat so you can ride bikes around (instead of way up on a hillside like the vast majority of homes). Within walking of the village, restaurants, a five minute walk to the beach. The housekeeper and gardener couple are fantastic and will help you with anything you need. Remember it is the tropics and in Mar/Apr was darned hot and dusty. But it is what it is. Also remember critters and creepy crawlies abound. It's where the jungle meets the ocean. The owner is extremely helpful, fair and honest. Rave reviews."

Nosara Travel Tips

Northwest Central America at Nosara Beach Rentals

For a trip into Central America, consider the Guanacaste Province of Costa Rica by renting Nosara beach rentals. Norsara, Costa Rica is located in the Nicoya Canton in the northwest. These Nosara resorts offer a little something for everyone on vacations in Costa Rica. Development of the beach is almost non-existent due to the Ostional Wildlife Refuge.

Ostional Wildlife Refuge near Nosara Resorts

The Ostional Wildlife Refuge was constructed to protect Olive Ridley and Leatherback sea turtle breeding ground. Vacations in Costa Rica can be limited during breeding season with beach closures, but do not worry as there are still plenty of places for surfing or other water sports along the beaches of Guanacaste Province. Nosara resorts can help you set up a scuba diving adventure that leaves from a marina rather than the beach, so that the turtles can remain undisturbed. Fishing tours are also available when you stay at Nosara beach rentals.

Vacations in Costa Rica for Yoga Enthusiasts

Vacations in Costa Rica to Nosara will put you in the heart of yoga education. One of the most famous yoga schools is located in Nosara, just a few minutes from Nosara resorts. Think about waking up to the sunrise in the east, as you sit on the beach facing the Pacific Ocean for your yoga workout.

Handicrafts of Nosara Beach Rentals

Downtown Nosara is a great place to spend the day for anyone who loves to shop. In the town, you have the market, pharmacy, churches, school, library, and many historical buildings. For those who love to shop, the market or retail shops that sell trinkets to remember Costa Rica are available. Bring home handicrafts, woven rugs, or tee-shirts to remember your time spent at Nosara beach rentals. Once you have gotten in all the shopping at the market you could want, head back to your accommodations for a home-cooked meal with fresh fruits and vegetables.
