"We stayed at Casa Randy's for 5 nights but wish we could have stayed longer!
Playa Avellanas is a very special place and this house is in the middle of the beautiful jungle. You can lay in bed in the morning and look out into the tree tops and hear the howler monkey's in the distance.
The caretakers on the property are really helpful and kind and it was nice knowing that he was there to help with anything if we needed it.
The house is spacious and has a great dining and living room perfect for cooking up the fresh fish we bought from the fish truck.
We travelled with our 2 year old daughter and she loved every minute!"

"I could not have had a better experience staying at the charm house! We felt very safe and comfortable with the fenced in yard. It was awesome having the hammocks outside to relax in, and the beds were really comfortable. The small kitchen was all we needed to cook a meal, and there's a couple fantastic restaurants within walking distance. The bathrooms were also great. The second we arrived, Ben was there to greet us and was more than happy to have us. He was super helpful when we needed anything, surfboard rentals, local knowledge, he even helped set up a great horseback riding trip. He made sure that we had everything we needed, and also gave us plenty of space to relax. The dogs are also great! Elvis and I had a few great mornings enjoying coffee out on the hammocks. The walk to the beach was really cool, and Playa Avellanas is such an amazing place. I did not have one complaint about the whole experience!"

"We are budget travelers, so we were looking for the biggest bang for the buck. This is a HOUSE -- not a little cabina. 2 full size bedrooms & baths. There was also an extra bed in the living room area. But it was just the 2 of us. Can you say his and her bathrooms! ;)
The kitchen was stocked with the utensils and cooking equipment needed. We had the fridge stocked for the 2 weeks we were there.
The property is nice and secluded. With the directions provided, we drove right to it. Miguel was just a phone call away and Douglas was always around. We felt safe at the property.
The wrap around porch is nice and airy. We hung out on the hammocks everyday and enjoyed the outside shower to get the sand off. The hibiscus were in bloom and very pretty.
We did have a rental car, so driving to the beach was quick. Walking to the beach, it may take a little while.
We had a great time there!"

Nicest hosts, amazing location, has everything you need!!
"Recently spent 14 days at the Blue Lagoon House and has the most amazing time. If you're looking for the real Tico experience, look no further. Rick & Gabriella were simply the nicest hosts from welcoming me at the gate and giving me a tour of the place despite my late arrival to inviting me over for a delicious typical Tico BBQ prior to my departure, and giving great advice about the area in-between. Gabriella is an amazing cook and she was kind enough to share some of the local delicacies with me and taught me how to make & eat breakfast like a true Tico: Gallo Pinto (I am still eating it for breakfast every day back home)! Rick is a great surfer and was kind enough to share some of the local knowledge of the breaks and it was nice to share a couple of waves with him at Palo Seco! They also both helped me brush up on my Spanish!
The house itself has everything you could possibly need. It is a gated property with the main house (so Gabriella and Rick are always just a few steps away if needed) and the guest house with parking spot. The 2 rooms are spacious with comfortable matresses and the master bedroom (2 double + 1 single bed) is equipped with an A/C unit, which was very appreciated in the hot Costa Rican nights of the dry season. The kitchen is equipped with all necessary amenities (stove/oven, fridge, toaster/toaster oven, coffee maker, and all the kitchen-/tableware you may need). No microwave but you can get around that no problemo! Nice little dining room/living room area to chill out during the evening. The bathroom was very clean (as was the rest of the house) and the shower has warm water.
The Playa Avellanas area is the best. Remote enough so that you get the cultural experience of what the real Costa Rica feels like yet it's a short drive (20min) from Tamarindo's nightlife & shopping and a 30min drive to Santa Cruz where you'll find nice local markets with cheaper goods. It's a 10min walk to the beach from the house. If you'd rather drive, park at the Cabinas las Olas across the street or at Lola's a 5min drive away (a great restaurant worth a stop during your stay). Both offer security for your cars and are free although you are somewhat expected to tip the security guards at Lola's. The beach is very nice, uncrowded, with a few shaded areas to find cover from that burning mid-day Tico sun. For surfers, tons of nice beach breaks, lefts & rights. The water is clean & warm and you can bet on it being sunny & gorgeous every single day!"
