"My wife and I shared this fantastic home with friends for 6 nights. From the moment we arrived, we knew we'd made the right choice. When we pulled into this tucked away oasis, Mike was there to greet us with fresh fruit, flowers refreshing Costa Rican cerveza. The house was spotless and perfectly sized for 2 couples. It had every amenity we'd ever need, including washer/dryer and TV (though, we never even turned it on!). Wifi access was great for updating our daily adventure blog. But, the real beauty of this home lies outside it's doors. If you love spending time outdoors, as we do, this is the house for you. Large patio over looking the beautiful flora and possibly the best pool in all of Playa Grande. Mike came by every morning to clean the pool. We were usually awake when he'd come, and would enjoy some nice conversations about things to see and do. He's a wealth of information about the area, so I'd recommend brewing a cup of Costa Rican coffee and chatting him up in the mornings. Be on the lookout for the resident iguana and tiger heron that visits every morning, as well.
The Palm Beach Estates neighborhood is quaint, quiet and has everything you'll need within walking distance. We had a car for driving to waterfalls and hidden beaches, but it's not necessary if you don't plan on doing those things. The local market, Wil-Mart (even has the same logo!), offers everything to stock your fridge/pantry and is easy walking distance. Along the way you'll pass Cafe Mar, a great little breakfast joint (ask for Manrique). Se7en, next to Wil-Mart, is a great dinner spot and upscale bar. Ernesto, the bartender, will immediately become your best friend and defacto tour guide. No need to book costly excursions, unless you like to spend that money, as he has lived in Playa Grande for a long time and knows the best places to send you by car. Trust him, he's really good. Within a couple hundred meters of the house is one of the best beaches we've ever been on, and we've been to a bunch. It's private to the Palm Beach Estates, so it's never crowded. It's great for surfing or just relaxing. We also enjoyed walking out there at night and looking at the millions of stars and occasional lightning storm. Very awe inspiring.
Many more things to see and do than this post will allow me to write. We just got back and are already planning our return. Mike, thank you for opening your home to us. It was a true Costa Rican experience!"
