60th birthday, retirement and anniversary...couldn't have asked for more!
"We celebrated my 60th birthday, my husband and my retirements and our 35th wedding anniversary with 13 family members. We couldn't have asked for anything more wonderful!! The staff at Villa Octotal is beyond compare. Herman is a phenomenal host/bartender and went "above and beyond" to accommodate us. Jose and Doris made us look forward to every meal, which we may regret once we get home and weigh
ourselves. My husband's nickname is now "muy gordo"!!!
Freddie always had a smile on his face and a greeting of "contento,
contento". We appreciated (and looked forward to) his daily Spanish lessons (our grandsons, ages 7, 5, 4 are still speaking Spanish)!!. Guillermo arranged all of our excursions and we were not disappointed. We went hiking, fishing (the guys brought back mahi mahi that Jose/Doris made into ceviche), went on the ATV jungle/beach tour, boat tour (where we saw howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, crocodiles, herons, iguanas and more) and zip-lining. The pictures of the villa are "spot on" and it is literally a 5 minute walk to the beach (make sure you have a drink at Father Roosters). Coco is a 10 minute taxi ride away ($6 each way for 4 people) and a great place to shop. I could go on and on but the best advice.....Experience it for yourself!!!
Our new motto is now " Pura Vida"!"

"What an experience! We rented this wonderful home with a friend who'd stayed here before and boy are we glad we did. The house was fantastic and the location can not be beat if you want views, wildlife, and privacy! Loved relaxing in the infinity pool as we watched the crashing waves on the beach down below and the wildlife right in front of us. The howler monkeys greeted us with their calls every morning and the toucans and hummingbirds (along with some other very interesting and beautiful birds) provided some wonderful photo opportunities. The beaches in the area are easy to get to and only a short drive away and are pristine and almost always private. Finally, the little town of Coyote is simply charming. Don't miss at least one trip to Rancho Loma Clara to eat and meet Rafael; the food is unbeatable, and you won't find a more hospitable place anywhere (We ate there morning and evening each day during our stay.) If you want a romantic get away that's private and beautiful you won't be disappoint! We hope to stay again for a month next year!!!!"

Great location- across the street from the beach and walking distance to everything in town
"My husband and I stayed for a week with both my parents and our two children (6yrs old & almost 2yrs old). Mike and Kathy along with their friendly staff were awesome and accommodated our VERY late check in. We loved having a pool in the back yard for the kids to swim in and the the beach and various restaurants right across the street. While there are many adventurous activities to do within driving distance, we chose to spend the majority of our time relaxing in the backyard (watching monkeys, birds, etc), on the beach, and exploring the town by foot. We did so one adventurous thing though - take our 6yr old zip lining at Pura Aventura. We had a blast and felt very safe!
Cafe Tico (2 min walk out the gate and to the right) is a must if you like coffee. As is Langosta Beach Club if you're looking for a great place to sit and watch the sunset and have a nicer dinner."

"I have traveled in Costa Rica and in Guanacaste'/Playa Grande, for over 15 years . I typically stay at a very good friends VRBO in Palm Beach Estates but he and his family were occupying the unit thus I opted for Playa Grande Casitas. My wife and I have admired the semi modern look and layout of the property for years as we drive right by it. As a mid 40's surfer that likes play hard there are some none negotiables' my wife and i need while traveling..... A good quality firm bed, functioning air conditioning, clean linens , and a functioning kitchen . Playa Grande casitas has all of this and more ! I can say this will be our go to place in the future. The owner ( Roger) and the property manager ( Manfred) were very kind and true to their word. Roger returned emails and answered questions while setting up our reservations and Manfred was a great host , a very kind man and very accommodating. Our Casita met and exceeded our expectations. The outdoor kitchen and deck were brilliant ! No food odors in the dwelling and we enjoyed coffee and meals out on the deck surrounded by the natural beauty and view of the beautiful pool. This small detail ( the outdoor kitchen and balcony) proved to be a highlight of our trip, a great place to relax and enjoy our meals. The room was clean, bed was firm and comfortable, sheets were clean and WIFI was dependable and powerful. The bathroom was a good size with a large shower....The water was adequately hot and easily accessible windows allowed cross ventilation.. The staff that cleans the rooms and the pool and grounds were awesome. Very nice folks that we quickly got to know and be friends with. Additionally, my 82 year old mother stayed in the lower level casita for about 4 days during our trip and she was completely pleased with the accommodations as well...She can't wait to go back. To sum things up.....For our active lifestyle and love of the natural beauty of Costa Rica with all the creature comforts needed this is and will be our new home away from home."
