Recent Playa Grande reviews

"This morning, again we woke to birdsong and monkeys in the treetops. From our open air perch on Craig ( Kai’s ) ridge, I stood and looked around at blue skies over the hills. In the background the sound of perpetually rolling surf. Our son just returned from an early morning surf session at Playa Grande, a short walk down a lovely path from the door of our comfortable Casa Linda Vista. Our eighth day is much the same as the first. Welcomed by our very helpful and informative hosts we found Casa Linda Vista to be clean and spacious within easy walking distance of entertaining nightspots and simple marketing. The atmosphere is unhurried and friendly. The published descriptions and reviews are accurate and recommend Craig ( Kai ) and Ruth’s property for anyone seeking quiet comfort within easy reach of everything a vacation should be. Our son has set out breakfast. Another day of Pura Vida. Tom & Frances Madson, Palo Alto, California, November 2014"

  • Amazing beach location

"Amazing location right on the beach of Playa Grande! The housekeeper and cook, Maria, did a phenomenal job keeping the house clean and providing delicious meals! Bedrooms had A/C which made a big difference! Pool was small but nice to have. Only improvement I would suggest is some comfy outside chairs on the porch to watch the gorgeous sunsets from!"

  • perfect paradise

"This vacation rental was a perfect fit for our group. We hosted a yoga retreat at this Villa. The layout is great. It gave everyone the option to have a private room and bathroom and each room came with 2 queen beds, with A/C. There was a large covered outdoor common area for dining and hanging out. The pool was nice. There was also a great outdoor space for us to do yoga and a quant deck overlooking the ocean for mediation. Marcela, the housekeeper, cooked 2 meals a day for our entire group of 13 people. She cooked Costa Rican meals and provided vegetarian and vegan options. The house is merely footsteps from the ocean. We could hear the waves crashing at night while sleeping, it was beautiful. Monkeys were found playing in the trees outside the house a couple time. This house has a local, rustic feel. It's perfectly located in walking or biking distance to Tamarindo and Playa Grande. I would without a doubt offer another retreat here. The property was a great size for large groups. Nova was very helpful in making sure we had everything, from board rentals to massages and airport transportation."

  • Pictures and words cannot describe how wonderful this place is.

"After A LOT of searching, I decided this was the best place for my family to spend four days of our week in Costa Rica. I wanted a house that would offer beach access as well as space for my two kids. David and Kelly's house far exceeded our expectations. It's beautiful. It's a wonderful place to just relax and enjoy the sounds of the ocean, amazing birds and summery cicadas. We could walk to a surf shop that offered excellent lessons as well as good rates on body boards and surf boards (body boards - $5 per day, surf boards - $15 per day). I didn't cook, but used the kitchen for simple breakfasts, snacks and sandwiches, as well as morning coffee. There were also several restaurants and a market close by. If you are willing to walk, more restaurants are available at the north end of the beach (approx 1.5 miles), or by taking a water taxi to Tamarindo (operates until 4 pm daily, for either $3 per person, or $1 per person, depending on pickup point). The house is clean, beautifully decorated and in an incredible spot if you like a quiet, slow pace, and proximity to natural beauty. If you prefer an all inclusive resort or a lot of action, this is not for you. The encounters with natural beauty changed daily, but in four days, we saw howler monkeys, iguanas, egrets, crabs, pelicans, lizards, and even a crocodile. I taught my kids card games, we ate ice cream, tried new fruits, played in the ocean, developed keen eyes for natural beauty, and learned how to slow down. It was wonderful."
