  • Amazing vacation!

"We recently came back from 10 days at Casa Muy Grande. I feel like one of our group said it best, he felt like it wasn't a vacation but a way of life. The house was very comfortable. We had a group of 9 from ages 3 to 80 and all felt at home. The pool was just right for our group as it provided a safe place for the kids to play before we headed out for excursions. The walk to the beach was very short and led to a great non crowded beach perfect for playing in the waves or watching the sunset. We all fell in love with the Playa Grande area. It was very safe and an easy walk to the "grocery store" Wil-Mart for necessities (and some of my favorite coffee and sunscreen which I am still using at home!) There are several restaurants easy walk or drive that were fantastic. The caretakers were lovely and helped us get some coconuts out of the trees in the yard to drink the coconut water. We heard and saw howler monkeys on several occasions in the yard...awesome!"

  • Casa JJ

"We were welcomed by the owners, Jorge and Jessie, and given a detailed explanation of the property- security, pool, kitchen equipment, air conditioning etc. They took the time to walk us to the near-by grocery store and introduced us to the owner and security guard we met on the way. We were left with detailed instructions as to procedures to follow in case of any problems. The house was clean, spacious and had adequate supplies of towels, dishes, pots etc. for the six adults present. We would have liked there to be a safe for our documents when away from the house. The short walk to the beach through a jungle/wooded area provided privacy from the beach. The pool was refreshing and used at night as well as during the day to cool off from temperatures of + 36 degrees. With strong winds, we lost power for periods during two days but a short walk to Wil-Mart and Seven restaurant provided us with anything missing. The gas stove and water system still worked. In the backyard we were witness to geckos, howler monkeys, black eagles, parrots and large blue birds and iguanas. We would have appreciated a local bird book. It was quiet and a perfect place to relax and we felt safe. The beautiful beach was surprisingly empty and we enjoyed the lovely sunsets. We definitely would return."

  • Location, location, beautiful art!

"Having just driven from Dominical, the land of jungle and tropical delights, we were a bit put off during the drive into town. The dry desert just didn't feel the same. Needless to say, after being there a day, we were completely satisfied with the house, the location and everything it had to offer. The home is so secure, and located right on the beach. It is filled with interesting objects and beautiful art. The restaurants and bars are within a short walking distance and they serve up some amazing food. The mini-market has it ALL! The surfboard rental is a 3 minute walk away. Sunsets are amazing, shells everywhere, house has everything you need. We didn't leave Playa Grande the whole time we were there. Why bother?"

  • Paradise Found

"This was truly a week in paradise, I only wish we had booked a longer stay! The house was perfect for our 2 families of 4, everyone had their own space but the house also offers plenty of room for us all to eat together, or lounge on the patio or yard. Beach access is right out the back door, to a long, wide uncrowded beach. Sunsets up on top of the "Rock" were fun for the kids (15-23).Plenty of patio furniture and beach lounges to enjoy the outdoors. We saw one turtle on the beach one night, though it wasn't nesting season! The orange and purple crabs are everywhere - it became a nightly ritual of shooing the crabs out of the courtyard (Not an easy task without hurting them)so they wouldn't scurry into our rooms when the doors were opened! All part of the jungle life, it didn't bother us at all. Water pressure in the house is really low at times, but there is a drought right now so it was no problem for us to deal with. House water is safe to drink, we had no problems. We had Kimberly cook 3 dinners for us - she is not only a great cook (Her Arroz con Pollo is amazing!) but she is very helpful in answering questions about the house and the area in general. Taco stand just down the block is great, Bula Bula has a really nice dinner in a beautiful setting, but the stand out meal was at Café del Pueblo, the small restaurant on the left as you're heading out of Playa Grande. Not to miss! We booked an Adventure Tour through Frijoles Locos (Corynne is so nice and very helpful!) at Rincon de la Vieja. $85/pp if you drive yourself, which is a very easy 1 3/4 drive away. It included awesome ziplining through gorgeous river gorge, horseback riding (I would skip this part - unimpressive) and whitewater river tubing - the highlight of or whole trip! Also amazing hot springs and mud bath, and a great buffet lunch. Awesome day, I would HIGHLY recommend! Overall, the house exceeded our expectations. Just remember that you are in a beach house in the jungle so there are critters and sand everywhere. Relax and enjoy! PURA VIDA"
