"When we were searching for options for our honeymoon, we considered resorts, traditional hotels, and private homes. We were SO HAPPY we made this choice. The house was in a great location, very private and quiet, and had everything we needed for a romantic honeymoon + days trips for adventures. We used the awesome pool every afternoon. Thanks goodness for the AC as it was 90+ every day! We ventured out to Llanos de Cortez (waterfall), Playa Carbon (black sand beach), Playa Flamingo (non-touristy, non surfing beach), played golf several times (Four Seasons, Conchal, and Pinilla), had an estuary tour, and of course, took the water taxi to Tamarindo Beach. If you like a surfer vibe - you'll love Tamarindo. If you like a great beach tiki bar, you'll love Lola's. Be sure to go to try the Mango Jalapeno Margarita's at RipJack's and the Sunday night BBQ at Seven. As the other reviewers have mentioned, Mike stops by every morning to clean the pool. If you are up early he is very willing to share tips and ideas for getting the most out of your Costa Rica vacation. The ONLY downside is the dirt road to get into Playa Grande. Very bumpy and rutted."

"Casa JJ was a perfect destination for our family spring break. It has private access to a gorgeous stretch of beach that was never even the least bit crowded. Within a short walk, you have access to several retaurants, a local convenience store, and surf lessons. Down the beach you can have one of the water taxis to take you across the estuary to Tamarindo, if you want access to more shopping and dining options.
The house is well kept and comfortable. We spent most of our time out on the beautiful patio, where we often watched a local family of howler monkeys. The kids loved having the pool, which was immaculate (it was cleaned daily, which couldn’t be said for several other pools we saw).
Jorge and Jessie met us at the home personally when we arrived, and made sure we had everything we needed for a perfect vacation. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing beach vacation with access to more entertainment options not too far away, you can’t do better than Casa JJ."

"When I say beach front I mean BEACH FRONT! The private beach is only a few yards from the house! We stayed here July 2015 and couldn't have asked for anything better. The house is comfortable and every bedroom has its own bath. We hardly saw anyone on the beach, only surfers out in the water. They do offer surf lessons right in front of the house for a minimal cost which we did and had a blast. Tamarindo is a short walk down the beach and a one minute boat ride across the inlet. The house was clean and kept up. Monkeys inhabit the trees in the front yard which we got to see. The pool is a good size and well maintained. I would totally recommend this location for your Costa Rica getaway! The only negative I would say is that the road in front of the house is less to be desired ( in other words, have good shocks!) but everything else makes up for that!"

"Stayed for 2 weeks with my 3 teens and my husbands parents. PERFECT! Modern! We took the second level and everyone had their own space, even my only daughter had a her own bed and area (the sitting room upstairs). My in-laws had the main floor so they had their own bathroom and could get up earlier.... There are 3 bathrooms with lots of hot water pressure. The master suite bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in my life. Very clean and everything you need. Even have the option to have groceries delivered before you get there. This is a very safe place to stay. Owner was helpful and all payments directly were fine. He has an agency that looks after the cleaning and maintenance while you are there.
Make sure you book surf lessons and rentals with Frijoles Locos Surf (super close) great service!
Also worth every penny excursions even if you only do 1 thing, do this! (book early): Javier (bi-lingual) lovingcostarica.com
A few minor comments to make 110%: a table and chairs on the upstairs balcony would be nice to enjoy the nights. Provided lawn chairs and enough towels for sleeping max to take to the beach should also be provided as there are no chairs at the beach.
NOTE: You need to rent a car for this location. We used a mini SUV from Vamos from the Liberia airport which was great and provided a complimentary emergency cell phone. Strapped luggage to the top and could fit all 7 of us comfortably and reasonably priced. Remember this is a developing country, wi-fi and power is not always running during wind storms. Roads were in good condition. No mosquitos except when we went on the Palo Verde tour (where I got 60 bites without feeling them until after...)
You will love this place.
Also we had to use the emergency clinic close by (there are 2, one is 24hr but they are connected) for an unexpected kidney stone and the service was amazing AND in English."
