  • Pros - excellent beach/location, courteous hosts; Cons - property/furniture could use an upgrade

"We (2 adults and a 2 1/2 year old child) stayed at Alan's and Kathy's house for 3 nights in May. The house is right on the beach and Playa Grande is fantastic, very secluded, private and huge beach, 5 stars! We had the top floor for us which has the master bedroom and 1 bathroom. It also has a loft with extra beds, small living room, kitchen and a huge outside veranda. The veranda is awesome and the views gorgeous, lots of wind too. The master bedroom had A/C and was useful because it was very hot during the time we were there (high of 35-37°C / 95-100°F). The pool was clean and had nice depth, however not for very small kids. The kitchen was well equipped though it could've used a microwave instead of a conventional oven. Kitchen didn't have any kind of condiments and it would've been better if it had the basic items stored (at least sugar, salt, pepper, may be coffee etc.). Some of the furniture is old and broken and could use some refurbishment as well. There is free Wi-Fi (spotty inside) and a small TV which gives you DirecTV programming from the US. Alan and Kathy are very courteous and were helpful with all our needs. I think the housekeeping lady comes once a week. If you are annoyed by harmless insects or ants then it’s not the place for you. There are a few here and there, which never really bothered us. The place isn't really child proof (may be not for very young kids) but we were fine with it. Parking is on street, which is right outside of the gate. We found the area to be safe. Tamarindo is half an hour drive (20 kms) or you can go to the south end of beach (3-4 kms) and take the boat. I have lived in the tropics for more than 20 years and this house reminded me of my granduncle's rustic home where I spent a lot of time growing up, very nostalgic. Loved the trees, the shades and the red tile flooring. I really want to leave 5 stars for this property, and once it gets a refurbishment it’s definitely a 5 star!"

  • 50th wedding anniversary with whole family

"What a wonderful week we had. Your place was just marvelous. One never really knows what it will turn out to be until on site and we were just ecstatic once in the house and saw all of the accommodations. It seemed to us that you have the best place in Playa Grande in the facility known as Villa Olivia!!!!!!! We could not have asked for anything better. The staff were wonderful, gracious, helpful, courteous, and very attentive. Kim was a fabulous cook, every evening meal. We participated in a number of interesting activities but enjoyed the beach, the waves, and the view from the hammocks, lounge chairs, and benches under the trees at your place the most!!! Thank you for your responsiveness throughout the reservation process."

  • Perfect Hideaway

"Thank you George & Susan for allowing us to stay in your home. We had a wonderful holiday. Your home was perfect for us (2 adults, 2 teenagers); the house had everything we needed and the pool and boogie boards/soft top surf board were lovely added touches. The house and yard were very well maintained and it was much appreciated. Alyssa was an unobtrusive yet very helpful property manager. We would love to come back some day! Playa Grande and Palm Beach Estates are the perfect location for surf lovers who also like a bit of peace and quiet away from the crowds."

  • Awesome Beach

"The home exceeded our expectations as did the beach. We have stayed at many different beaches and this was our favorite...sand for miles, warm water, water depth and waves excellent for anyone and we felt very safe. Safe at the beach and at the house. The owners (and definitely don't forget Wilbert and Wil-Mart and Manfred the baker) were very gracious, warm, caring folks that did all they could to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The house was extremely clean and comfortable. It was great next to the beach and the pool was enjoyed by all. We felt very safe (was traveling with my children) and just "felt at home" - granted it was a lot warmer there than in Montana at the time. Loved and would stay again for sure."

Playa Grande Travel Tips

Playa Grande Beach Rentals Are Tropical Paradises

Do more than dream about the tropical paradise of Costa Rica. Instead, book your perfect Playa Grande Beach rentals now to experience the Guanacaste Province and Marino Las Baulas National Park. Every day, you can rise and run down to the pristine shoreline around Playa Grande resorts for a dip in the clear Pacific Ocean. At dusk, set up dinner on the deck, so that you can enjoy the sunset. Vacations in Costa Rica are your dream come true.

Playa Grande Resorts and the Life of the Sea Turtle

Playa Grande resorts and Guanacaste Province are most notable for the endangered leatherback sea turtles that visit each year. These turtles struggle up the sand from the ocean to lay their eggs. Vacations in Costa Rica cannot be complete without a look at the natural park where the turtles are protected. If you cannot make the nesting season, try to come 55 to 75 days after the nesting occurs. During this time, you can walk from Playa Grande Beach rentals to witness the baby turtles emerging from the sand to crawl into the sea.

Surf Vacations in Costa Rica

Vacations in Costa Rica to Playa Grande are also notable for their surfing. The main beach at Playa Grande will see waves of varying heights for all skill levels of surfers. This beach is a lot quieter than Playa Tamarindo though equally as good. You will have to be an early riser most mornings to leave Playa Grande resorts for the ocean waves beckoning you.

Enjoy Tours near Playa Grande Beach Rentals

Vacations to Playa Grande Beach rentals do not have to be all about the beach. You can travel inland to experience eco-tours above the ground. Witness the waterfalls that allow the river to snake its way out to the ocean on a trekking tour of the rainforest.
