Awesome stay in Playa Grande
"Our group of nine (2 families with boys aged 9 to 16), stayed at the Frijoles Locos apartments for our whole 2 weeks in Costa Rica. Ever since the get-go, Corynne was wonderful in responding to our numerous questions about life in Grande and also the different activities we wanted to take part in.
First off, the setup is the best for either 1 or 2 families. We would each have our own apartment, which were well furnished. AC worked A1, we did a lot of cooking and had everything we needed, beds were super comfortable, Wifi worked awesome for the kids (for when we were not at the beach). The pool was great to relax in after tough day surfing.
We also took in seven days of surf lessons for the kids and the adults. As first time surfers, we were driven to the beach in the great beach taxis in order to catch the best waves. Our master instructor Ian stayed further out with the boys who were catching great waves and had a blast. The parents stayed closer to shore catching smaller but fun waves with either JC, Andreas or Sebastien, all great instructors. Each instructor would share their tricks and by the end of our 2 weeks, we were catching great waves.
Staying above the surf shop was great for us as there was always a friendly face available to answer our questions or help us order some yummy fish and veggies from the local suppliers. The kids would also get a bunch of high fives and smiles as they would come across their surf instructors. The crew at Frijoles Locos really made us feel like we were part of the family. Our youngest grew attached to Loca the dog, who actually stayed a couple of nights with us.
We always felt safe staying at Frijoles and we also had diner at El Huerto and Kike's Place right around the corner, two great options to give us a break from cooking.
If you are looking for a nice quiet surf town with great waves, beautiful sunsets, far from the commercial hustle, this is THE place.
All nine of us are unanimous in saying that this was one of the best vacations we have ever had in such a beautiful part of the world."

"I have traveled in Costa Rica and in Guanacaste'/Playa Grande, for over 15 years . I typically stay at a very good friends VRBO in Palm Beach Estates but he and his family were occupying the unit thus I opted for Playa Grande Casitas. My wife and I have admired the semi modern look and layout of the property for years as we drive right by it. As a mid 40's surfer that likes play hard there are some none negotiables' my wife and i need while traveling..... A good quality firm bed, functioning air conditioning, clean linens , and a functioning kitchen . Playa Grande casitas has all of this and more ! I can say this will be our go to place in the future. The owner ( Roger) and the property manager ( Manfred) were very kind and true to their word. Roger returned emails and answered questions while setting up our reservations and Manfred was a great host , a very kind man and very accommodating. Our Casita met and exceeded our expectations. The outdoor kitchen and deck were brilliant ! No food odors in the dwelling and we enjoyed coffee and meals out on the deck surrounded by the natural beauty and view of the beautiful pool. This small detail ( the outdoor kitchen and balcony) proved to be a highlight of our trip, a great place to relax and enjoy our meals. The room was clean, bed was firm and comfortable, sheets were clean and WIFI was dependable and powerful. The bathroom was a good size with a large shower....The water was adequately hot and easily accessible windows allowed cross ventilation.. The staff that cleans the rooms and the pool and grounds were awesome. Very nice folks that we quickly got to know and be friends with. Additionally, my 82 year old mother stayed in the lower level casita for about 4 days during our trip and she was completely pleased with the accommodations as well...She can't wait to go back. To sum things up.....For our active lifestyle and love of the natural beauty of Costa Rica with all the creature comforts needed this is and will be our new home away from home."

"We really enjoyed our stay at this house. Very comfortable and had most amenities that we needed. Nir was so helpful and really nice. When we had a problem with the refrigerator he had it fixed as soon as possible and supplied us with a cooler until it was fixed. It was just a short walk to the beautiful beach and the pool was refreshing when we were at the house. This was our first time in Costa Rica and we had an awesome vacation. I would highly recommend it! An overall great experience and we would stay here again when we return."

"Just left beautiful Playa Grande after 8 nights in the studio. Marina and Frank are very welcoming but not intrusive , as they do live on the same property. We could easily walk to the beach to check out the surf or go get some exercise. The surf wasn't all it could be, but the lovely cool pool was a lovely treat. You can walk to the neighborhood store for supplies, take a 20 minute stroll south and a boat ride and be in bustling Tamarindo for lunch and shopping, and also walk to local restaurants in Palm Beach Estates, where the property is located. The main Playa Grande beach access is about 25 minute walk north, with surf shops and some restaurants as well. Car is almost a must because of lack of public transport, although we have done that in the past. I would definately return to Casa Marina!"
