  • Fun Family Vacation

"The villa was wonderful for our family of four. I loved having two bedrooms so the kids didn't have to share a room with us. The common area is large and kitchen has everything you need to do some cooking. The market around the corner had more American products than the Super Sized one in Tamarindo so check that one first if you are looking for something familiar (assuming you are American of course - LOL). With only six villas in the property the pool was always free for a dip which was nice in the afternoons when the beaches were a little too rough for our little ones. The owner was delightful coming by twice in the week. We really enjoyed working with her as everything went smoothly. My only surprise was that the villa only had air conditioning in the bedrooms and not throughout. Not a deal breaker for us since sleeping was the time we needed it most but just sharing for others."

  • Excellent location and great property

"We stayed at Casa Verano from Dec 21 - 28 with our two young kids and the grand parents; there were six of us in total. The location was perfect; less than a 10 minute walk from the beach. Far enough away from all of the nightime noise (only noise coming from the American neighbours who played Christmas music all day). The house has all of the amenities needed; the pool was great to have when the sun was just too much at mid-day. Samara is an amazing city; people are so nice, and so laid back. A couple of things that I recommend are the Samara Trails tour (Alvaro is the best guide I've ever experienced); Samara Organics; Luv Burger (great vegan food, and best beer!); Oso Loco for movie nights, coffee and curry."

  • Great condo overlooking beautiful beach and town!

"Joe and Mark, Thank you so much for accommodating us during our stay at your condo! We had an absolutely wonderful time in Samara, and would recommend that anyone visit this hidden gem in Costa Rica. When we decided to vacation in Costa Rica, we were hoping to find an area where we could relax by the ocean and also experience Costa Rican culture. Samara was perfect. Despite the idyllic beauty of the town and beach, Samara has not been overrun by the tourist industry that has captured many other coastal regions. Rather, it maintains the quaint charm of a small beach village. While we enjoyed several great meals at the various restaurants along the beach and throughout the town, the beach was easily the highlight of our trip to Samara. The water was so warm and pleasant, and the waves were large enough to surf but certainly not overbearing. We also rented an ocean kayak and paddled out to the island that can be seen in the photos. From there, we saw an incredible view of the Rich Coast of the country. Indeed, Samara is a special place. Your condo was the perfect accommodation for our trip to Samara. Tucked up on a hill overlooking the beach, we had unbelievable views of ocean and the short, dramatic, entertaining lightning storms in the early evenings. Also, as it was such a short walk to the beach (5 minutes) and town (under 10 minutes), the condo really is in an ideal location. The condo itself was everything we could have asked for. All rooms were very clean, the bed and furniture were comfortable, and there were plenty of places to sit and take in the vista through the panoramic windows. All utilities (including the coffee maker) worked fine, and there was plenty of storage space for food, clothing, and other items. Also, we were pleasantly surprised to find the vast, and impressively up-to-date, DVD collection! We were truly sad to leave Samara, and we intend to return. When we do, we would love to use your condo again. While the condo was perfect for our needs, what made our experience better was the service. Both of you (Joe and Mark) could not have been more helpful and pleasant while we planned our stay. Also, the property manager and staff at the condominium property were very attentive, kind, and accommodating. For anyone travelling to Guanacaste, I would highly recommend that they consider Samara as a destination and that they stay in your condo. I am sure that they will not be disappointed. Gracias por todo, y pura vida!"

  • Spacious for Sure and the View is Stunning

"Really enjoyed our nine nights at Casa Colinas. Private areas make for a comfortable place to host friends, as we did. The pool area is beautiful, attended by a huge, mellow iguana and a friendly young monkey one morning. As mentioned in other reviews, Eric is very attentive and having Yohanna come and cook was an excellent experience. Dennis was extremely accommodating with our arrangements. Maybe because the house is so large, it was not quite and clean upon arrival as one might like, as I repostioned the TV and the floor thee was a bit of a mess. We also hosted a minor invasion of fire ants and a scorpion. We took these in stride. We would not want to have heard that major pesticides were applied, so taking care of these was no problem. This can occur anywhere in CR. There are 24 hour security patrols and the gate attendants seem cheerful. The dramatic entry foyer is a huge solar furnace which caused us to use AC more than we would have otherwise. Could use at least one sharp knife in kitchen. Be aware that the location is on a steep hill, which is a long, arduous walk from the Hermosa beach, but a short drive. If you have 4x4 absolutely do not miss nearby beach Playa Penca, which has white Caribbean-like sand, aqua water and nice snorkeling. Recommended."
