"We just returned from a week at Casa Colinas and wish we were still there! We are a family of five with kids ages 3, 7 and 9. My wife's parents came along as well. This house was two master suites, two kitchens, two beautiful patios and amazing views of Playa Hermosa and the Papagayo Peninsula from all around the house. The neighborhood is secure, quiet and filled with beautiful homes through winding, hilly streets. There is an abundance of wildlife right outside the property. While we were there we saw green and black iguanas, howler monkeys, parakeets, thrushes, vultures, cormorants and many other birds. There is a handy sheet to help identify the fauna. Playa Hermosa is a great beach. It's long and there is about 50 meters of sand from the water to the trees so it never feels crowded. The waves vary from very gentle to moderate body surfing. We booked several tours (snorkeling and Palo Verde boating) with Louis on the beach. He's from New Orleans, but is Costa Rican by heritage and took good care of us. He's just setting up his business and didn't have a business card yet, but you'll see him down by the beach chatting with everyone. Dennis and Eric were very attentive with the property management company and took care of everything we needed very quickly. You hear about "tico time" but Eric and Dennis were punctual and thorough and communicated proactively with us. We hired Johana to cook for us two times and really enjoyed the chicken, gallo pinto and fresh pescado (dorado) she prepared for us for a very reasonable price. We'll be back to Costa Rica for sure and will look to stay at Casa Colinas again soon!"Guest: Matt V. Date of Stay: December 2013 Review Submitted: December 26, 2013View listing
"We had a fantastic two weeks at Villa Camelia - Sam and Camelia are amazing hosts and tended to our every need! The villa has absolutely breathtaking scenery, is beautifully appointed inside and out and situated perfectly to easily access all that Hermosa has to offer. We couldn't have asked for a better place to enjoy our first visit to Costa Rica! Thanks also to Antonio, Jose and Stephanie for their help and friendship during our stay. Sam and Camelia, thank you so much for your hospitality - loved every minute and can't wait to return someday!"Guest: Al&Deb Date of Stay: January 2014 Review Submitted: January 29, 2014View listing
"This guesthouse was perfect for our 9 days in Costa Rica. Nan and Paul (the owners) are right next door and provided us with information on trips, restaurants and activities. Nan and Paul are also wonderful trustworthy people who really care about their guests. The guesthouse is clean, spacious and a perfect location to sit outside in the mornings and listen to (and see) birds, monkeys and sounds of the jungle. We felt right at home. We would suggest renting a car because this location is a great jumping off point to other "playas," towns, hikes and adventures (which Nan and Paul will help you choose). We rented from POAS and they delivered the car to us for no extra charge (and they are right across the street from the airport for the trip back). Kayaking, walking on the beach, good restaurants, and swimming in the ocean are all right there. We visited Playa Panama, Tamarindo, Guaticil, Arenal and had great experiences at each. We would recommend Roberto's (Playa Hermosa), Mangrove (Playa Panama) and Father Roosters as great restaurants - all on the beaches. We wouldn't have found them without Nan and Paul. Can't say enough about the wonderful experiences we had that were launched from this guesthouse. Be sure to go. Our only regret is that we didn't stay long enough, another 4 or 5 days would have been even more perfect. We would highly recommend this guesthouse and Nan and Paul as owners."Guest: Rick Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: March 28, 2014View listing
"The Sunset House has a spectacular view, great proximity to conveniences in Playas del Coco (i.e. the nice supermarket and veggie/fruit market), and is in a very quiet private and secure residential neighborhood. We really enjoyed the pool from sunrise to sunsets (and what a sunset it is!). The kitchen is well equipped. We had some minor problems with the dish washer leaking and the Manager had that fixed. We grilled out a lot, and if you plan to as well be sure to check to see if you have a full gas tank for the grill. Ours ran out and it was a Sunday so we had to wait for a refill. The neighbor was away and their dog was left out and yelped incessantly one night through. Hopefully you won't have to suffer through that. We hope to visit the Sunset House again soon. Our three-year old refers to it as "our new house"... what more is there to say than that!"Guest: Paul F. Date of Stay: March 2014 Review Submitted: May 9, 2014View listing
Playa Hermosa Travel Tips
Picture Perfect Vacations in Playa Hermosa Beach Rentals
For anyone looking for a small beach town vacation in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica, Playa Hermosa beach rentals will be perfect! Situated along the northwest coast of the country, Playa Hermosa resorts offer plenty of fun in the sun and surf. Located just 25 minutes from the Liberia International Airport, planning vacations in Costa Rica has never been easier when you choose Playa Hermosa as your destination!
Playa Hermosa Resorts Offer Quiet Serenity
In Spanish, “hermosa” means “beautiful” so the town is aptly named. Playa Hermosa beach rentals line the gray sanded beaches and are situated between two spectacular mountains. Surrounded by the more populated beaches of Playa del Coco and Playa Panama, Playa Hermosa resorts offer privacy and lots of quiet relaxation. The water even reflects this as the waves here are much more serene than surrounding areas, making Playa Hermosa ideal for swimming and splashing rather than surfing and sporting.
National Parks Are a Must-see During Vacations in Costa Rica
You simply cannot plan vacations in Costa Rica without a visit to some of the many national parks in the country. In fact, quite a few are located rather close to many Playa Hermosa beach rentals so the trip will not be difficult. Rincon de la Vieja National Park, Santa Rosa National Park, and Palo Verde National Park are all worth a visit. If you want to view local wildlife (monkeys, jaguars, tropical birds, and more) up close and personal, this is your chance!
Laid-back Vacations in Playa Hermosa Beach Rentals
The atmosphere surrounding Playa Hermosa resorts is very laid-back. And that is what vacations in Costa Rica should be--ultimately relaxing. The country offers the opportunity to escape it all in a lush, tropical setting surrounded by oceans, beaches, and mountains. A trip to Playa Hermosa will cleanse the mind, body, and soul, making you ready for anything when you return home!
