"We just returned from a week at Casa Colinas and wish we were still there! We are a family of five with kids ages 3, 7 and 9. My wife's parents came along as well. This house was two master suites, two kitchens, two beautiful patios and amazing views of Playa Hermosa and the Papagayo Peninsula from all around the house. The neighborhood is secure, quiet and filled with beautiful homes through winding, hilly streets. There is an abundance of wildlife right outside the property. While we were there we saw green and black iguanas, howler monkeys, parakeets, thrushes, vultures, cormorants and many other birds. There is a handy sheet to help identify the fauna. Playa Hermosa is a great beach. It's long and there is about 50 meters of sand from the water to the trees so it never feels crowded. The waves vary from very gentle to moderate body surfing. We booked several tours (snorkeling and Palo Verde boating) with Louis on the beach. He's from New Orleans, but is Costa Rican by heritage and took good care of us. He's just setting up his business and didn't have a business card yet, but you'll see him down by the beach chatting with everyone. Dennis and Eric were very attentive with the property management company and took care of everything we needed very quickly. You hear about "tico time" but Eric and Dennis were punctual and thorough and communicated proactively with us. We hired Johana to cook for us two times and really enjoyed the chicken, gallo pinto and fresh pescado (dorado) she prepared for us for a very reasonable price. We'll be back to Costa Rica for sure and will look to stay at Casa Colinas again soon!"Guest: Matt V. Date of Stay: December 2013 Review Submitted: December 26, 2013View listing
"This is my first review in this site. I have to state a few facts before hand. I am a world traveler due to my job and spend over 150 days a year on hotels in every continent. Likewise, our family usually takes trips twice a year to different countries around the world, always staying in houses or resorts. However, this was our first time renting a house in Costa Rica, where home is for us. I have to say that my expectations were quite low, as I had not vacationed in this area, plus I had left this trip to the very last minute, with Semana Santa (Easter week) on top, making it difficult to find any place available. However, we struck gold! We contacted David (owner) and Jodi (manager), and were able to make a memorable vacation, with the help of Gary (the local house keeper), who is a GREAT person to have a chat with and pointing on what to do locally. Location - The house is located on a mid-hilltop, with views to the ocean (less than a mile away), with lush vegetation around it (great for the monkeys that come and visit). The directions are very easy to get there, and it is centrally located to everything. Rooms - The rooms are great!!! Each with individual fans and A/C and the house with a master A/C, with multiple fans. They are large rooms, with very comfortable beds, great linens, each room with its private big bathroom and big closets! What else to ask for? Amenities - The house includes a series of perks like a FAST internet connection, Magic Jack, Roku, DVD player, 2 TV (one in the main bedroom and one in the living room) with Satellite TV, outside speakers, and large couches to watch TV... Outside - Obviously, the pool is a great attraction and it was a great one, with spectacular sunset views and just great for lounging. But the outside table, umbrella and chairs, made it the perfect location for food, drinks and unwinding.. or falling asleep in the sun tanning chairs (under a great shadow from a beautiful native tree)! Cooking - I love cooking and this is by far one of the best houses we have been to in terms of all utensils. We had great pots and pans (every size, for every style), great granite countertops, glass cooktop, great knives/cookware, and overall a great selection of plates to serve your food in, that really made it kind of special in terms of a "vacation" feel. A great dining table, topped it for family gathering. Overall - This house far exceeded our expectations, and we will definitely come back."Guest: George M. "Indeed a fantabulous (fantastic + fabulous) place to stay in Playa Hermosa. The house ( Mansion) is absolutely awesome. The view is magnificent and the infinity pool feels as if you are in the pacific ocean. The place is very secure with gated security guards 24 ×7. I would definitely go back. The owner is a great guy. Thank you james for having us."Guest: peace lover Date of Stay: December 2013 Review Submitted: December 29, 2013View listing
"Our family (including two kids ages 7 & 9) had a great time in Playa Hermosa. There are so many places to visit on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica and we fell in love with Playa Hermosa. The views and the beach are outstanding especially since the water is a bay with few waves; the water felt like a bath. The rental was very comfortable with A/C included which was not standard in our rentals. You definitely need a car to stay here with many things in walking distance but the distances are more than 10-15 minutes. Great restaurants around and many options for adventures. We used Tico Tours. We had a great time and did not want to leave after our week's stay."Guest: Dan I. Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: July 23, 2014View listing
Playa Hermosa Travel Tips
Picture Perfect Vacations in Playa Hermosa Beach Rentals
For anyone looking for a small beach town vacation in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica, Playa Hermosa beach rentals will be perfect! Situated along the northwest coast of the country, Playa Hermosa resorts offer plenty of fun in the sun and surf. Located just 25 minutes from the Liberia International Airport, planning vacations in Costa Rica has never been easier when you choose Playa Hermosa as your destination!
Playa Hermosa Resorts Offer Quiet Serenity
In Spanish, “hermosa” means “beautiful” so the town is aptly named. Playa Hermosa beach rentals line the gray sanded beaches and are situated between two spectacular mountains. Surrounded by the more populated beaches of Playa del Coco and Playa Panama, Playa Hermosa resorts offer privacy and lots of quiet relaxation. The water even reflects this as the waves here are much more serene than surrounding areas, making Playa Hermosa ideal for swimming and splashing rather than surfing and sporting.
National Parks Are a Must-see During Vacations in Costa Rica
You simply cannot plan vacations in Costa Rica without a visit to some of the many national parks in the country. In fact, quite a few are located rather close to many Playa Hermosa beach rentals so the trip will not be difficult. Rincon de la Vieja National Park, Santa Rosa National Park, and Palo Verde National Park are all worth a visit. If you want to view local wildlife (monkeys, jaguars, tropical birds, and more) up close and personal, this is your chance!
Laid-back Vacations in Playa Hermosa Beach Rentals
The atmosphere surrounding Playa Hermosa resorts is very laid-back. And that is what vacations in Costa Rica should be--ultimately relaxing. The country offers the opportunity to escape it all in a lush, tropical setting surrounded by oceans, beaches, and mountains. A trip to Playa Hermosa will cleanse the mind, body, and soul, making you ready for anything when you return home!
