  • Amazing Vacation Home!

"We found this home to be exactly what we thought it would be after seeing all the pictures on VRBO. The open air areas were amazing, and it was nice to "get cool" in the evenings with the air conditioned bedrooms. The pool was very nice, and the proximity to Tamarindo is easily walkable, but also only a $4-$5 cab ride. The only things I'd mention ( but would never cause me to lower my rating ) were that when we arrived the phone didn't work, and the internet quit working regularly. However, both were quickly fixed. This is also house that you have to realize you are sharing with wildlife...which we found exciting. There were iguanas on the roof, curious birds in the courtyard, a raccoon or two in the late evenings, and of course an insect here are there. So if you are spooked by that you should take note ( we weren't spooked by that at all... ) The maid and the gardener were friendly and both did a great job...would love to come back and visit again!"

  • Exceptional

"A minor disadvantage to the wonderful setback which does not allow building on the beach at Nosara is that you tend to be "in the trees" with little sense of the sky. This elevated condo allows enough openness from your balconies to see all: sky, moon, stars, trees, and birds. This stylish modern, up-to-date, villa was very important for creating a perfect week in March. While crime is very minimal (we walked back to the villa in the dark many nights), the fact that the villa was near the end of the street up a short hill with a guard and a dependable safe freed us to enjoy ourselves. The 10-minute walk to the beach was just right. The owner took care of us in every way without overdoing it. He gave great advice for getting from the airport to Nosara, renting a vehicle, and activities in the area. There was a very minor problem with one bathroom drain and it was fixed immediately. Nosara is not fancy, not a Westin Resort town. We came because we wanted to be laid back, walk/run the beaches twice a day, enjoy the local food, drive the coast each way, and do a few local activities. While the town is full of expats and tourists, it give more get more of a sense of the pura vida (pure life). Drive north and walk on endless beaches by yourself (unless the turtles are coming ashore). Take the local river kayak or SUP environmental river tour with a great guide. Thanks for your help in making our vacation exactly what we had hoped for."

  • Charlie S

"My wife and I visited from Sept 20-27, 2014 and had a great time! We continuously enjoyed the beautiful views from the porch, pool and from inside the house. Carl's directions made getting there very easy and the local map provided made travel in Nosara simple and fun. We took walks to the river, saw monkeys (some with little babies), many birds, and animals. The store was easy to get to for supplies and the people were very friendly. The house was perfect and whether you want to take long hikes or sit by the pool this is the place! We felt very safe and secure and the privacy of being on a dead end road was great. We would highly recommend this beautiful oasis to anyone visiting Costa Rica as this house is simply perfect!"

  • Classy and comfortable

"One of the first things that strikes you about the Tropical Jungalow is the architecture. The place is so well designed - there is a wonderful flow from the inside space to a very comfortable covered outdoor living area. The ceiling has a lovely alternating pattern of hardwoods. There are A/C units in each bedroom, and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen is fantastic - full of everything you need to eat at home. We found ourselves wishing we knew people in Samara just so we could have them over to entertain. The house was quite secure - we never had any worries about break-ins or theft. We ate mangoes from the trees out back and swam in the pool to the howls of monkeys. You could easily walk to town - its probably only a mile or so, but the house is up a hill, and we were glad to be able to drive. Samara is a great base to venture out from - there are several good surf beaches within an hour or so, as well as a turtle refuge. There are several good places to eat in Samara - our kids favorite was LuvBurger (a veggie burger place next to a yoga studio). But it wasn't so developed that you felt like you were in Touristville. If we go back to Samara, we would definitely stay at the Tropical Jungalow again. Lastly, I'd say that the rental is very well priced - I feel like we got very high quality lodging for our family vacation dollars."
