  • Modern, comfortable condo... close and convenient to beach and downtown Coco!

"Our group of seven included my mom in her seventies, two adult kids, two teenagers and my wife and I. Finding a place to hold us all comfortably was a challenge, but this ground-floor, close-to-the-pool unit in the quiet and luxurious Sombras development was a great choice! Each bedroom had comfortable beds and its own A/C unit as well as a ceiling fan. The two bathrooms were modern and had great tub/shower combos as well as lots of hooks to hang suits and towels. The kitchen and living area were perfect for preparing meals or for relaxing after an adventure-filled day. There were two pools for us to enjoy, the closest only 20 feet outside the patio door. We enjoyed using the gas grill on the patio a couple of nights as well. The beach is about a 10 minute stroll in one direction and downtown Coco is 10 minutes the other direction. The closest convenience store / mini-market is just next door and is located in the same development as the property management company who can arrange for rental cars or adventure tours. We didn't rent a car or golf cart on this trip but had not problem getting around on foot or with relatively inexpensive taxi rides. Our favorite restaurants were Pappagayo Seafood downtown and Claudio y Glorias just off the beach close to downtown. For a less expensive "soda" experience, we enjoyed Jardin Tropical across from the Port Authority office. For a great meal and incredibly friendly hosts try HelloHanny's in Artola on the Monkey Trail road to the Congo Trail zip line center. The beach and sunsets in Coco were great. We also enjoyed exploring nearby beaches in Ocotal, where you should visit Father Rooster, and Playa Conchal and Tamarindo further south. In summary, this great unit was a perfect base camp for our diverse group. Everyone enjoyed the comforts of home while there and it made resting up for the next adventure a great pleasure. Highly recommended!"

  • Pura Vida!!

"I wanted to start off by thanking you for sharing your lovely home and wonderful staff with others. Your home is gorgeous, the view is spectacular, and it is beautifully decorated containing all the comforts needed to make it feel like a home. Mariela and Kojak made sure that every last detail was taken care of and that everything ran smoothly. Xinia is an amazing cook and such a pleasure to work with. (we wanted to take her back with us in our suitcase) Marita did a great job keeping everything clean and tidy and it was extra special to have our clothes washed daily. I LOVE IT that we didn't take dirty laundry back home. Ping watched over us and made us feel a little safer, knowing we weren't completely alone. I wanted to thank you for putting together such an informative binder for all your guests with important information and great recommendations. I also wanted to share our favorite tours/experiences with others that we personally think should not be missed. The Borinquen Resort offered a great excursion including horseback riding, zip lining/canopy tour and the mud bath/thermal pool experience. This tour makes for a GREAT day full of fun and adventure. We also greatly enjoyed a horseback riding tour we took from Hacienda Guachepelin to two gorgeous waterfalls (Las Chorreras and Catarate Oropendola) My three sons LOVED jumping off the cliffs into the cool and refreshing water the waterfalls empty into. Lastly, my nature loving boys got a kick out of our "jungle cruise" at Palo Verde. It was very neat to get up close and personal with the white-faced monkeys and crocodiles! Our family had the vacation of a lifetime and your home and staff really helped to make it happen! PURA VIDA!!!"

  • Easy to live.

"We stayed in the unit for 11 weeks from Jan to Mar as our first year of retirement. You can't beat the weather. Only 1 day that was overcast. NO rain. If you want a sunny, hot spot then this is the place. By late March it was getting hot. Low of 82 and high of 95 virtually every day. The patio having shade from late morning was a super feature. For sun all you needed as ten steps to the pool and a cool down. As there are only a few units with two pools there was never a problem getting one of the lounges. They are great to look at and shaped nicely but an airmattress makes them much more comfortable. The neighbours were great and we made some long lasting friendships. (bringing a jug of Caesars or margaritas out to share at happy hour helps:)). Very peaceful. The unit had most everything you need. We cooked most meals and had Marylyn the "fish lady" come to the back gate once a week with fresh shrimp, maui maui and tilapia. The seafood is awesome. There is also a great market up by the mall with the Mega supermarket. As for food shopping there are four large stores that have all you need and more. We also used the fresh vegetable market south of the SuperCompro most days coming back from our walk. The peppers, pineapple, mangos and watermelons is something we miss everyday here at home. The unit has a very good BBQ but you have to get used to the heat it can give out. I used indirect mostly as there are four burners. There is no electronic lighter (Ron you should maybe install one) so we used matches. I worked out a system but be careful as a couple of people in the complex are missing a few eyebrows:). Use one burner only to start and move the coals around so the match can access the gas quick. The stove is also gas but we used the BBQ virtually everyday so it didn't get much use. AC worked great as it is in each room. But we only used it at night. Why go to the heat to stay inside in the cold? One trick we found was to use the big fan out on the patio. It worked great and helped keep any mosquitos away. An outdoor ceiling fan would be a great addition. All the beds were comfortable and the layout is great for multiple couples. One thing you might bring is an AppleTv. We used it a lot to watch Netflix which worked fine on the WiFi. Only a very few English channels. The beach is a short walk and we did it most mornings when it was cooler. So a pool at your doorstep and ocean 5 min away. What else do you need."
