  • Pictures and words cannot describe how wonderful this place is.

"After A LOT of searching, I decided this was the best place for my family to spend four days of our week in Costa Rica. I wanted a house that would offer beach access as well as space for my two kids. David and Kelly's house far exceeded our expectations. It's beautiful. It's a wonderful place to just relax and enjoy the sounds of the ocean, amazing birds and summery cicadas. We could walk to a surf shop that offered excellent lessons as well as good rates on body boards and surf boards (body boards - $5 per day, surf boards - $15 per day). I didn't cook, but used the kitchen for simple breakfasts, snacks and sandwiches, as well as morning coffee. There were also several restaurants and a market close by. If you are willing to walk, more restaurants are available at the north end of the beach (approx 1.5 miles), or by taking a water taxi to Tamarindo (operates until 4 pm daily, for either $3 per person, or $1 per person, depending on pickup point). The house is clean, beautifully decorated and in an incredible spot if you like a quiet, slow pace, and proximity to natural beauty. If you prefer an all inclusive resort or a lot of action, this is not for you. The encounters with natural beauty changed daily, but in four days, we saw howler monkeys, iguanas, egrets, crabs, pelicans, lizards, and even a crocodile. I taught my kids card games, we ate ice cream, tried new fruits, played in the ocean, developed keen eyes for natural beauty, and learned how to slow down. It was wonderful."

  • Great Place to Stay!

"Had a great, relaxing and wonderful stay for 2 weeks at this well maintained, clean and beautiful villa. We did not have a car but Carlos who manages Noreen's place arranged transportation from and to the airport. He also arranged transportation and golfing for my husband to be able to play. This place has absolutely everything you could possibly need to make your stay so enjoyable. What a view of the Ocean from the deck! The grocery store, beach and a few great restaurants are withing walking distance. Jonathan, the General Manager at Ginger's arranged free transportation to and from the restaurant. Good food! Bocelli's has excellent wood fired pizza. We also went there for dinner another night and had pasta. Very good. Fishing if you like that is excellent. We went there one day and caught tons of red snapper and my husband caught a 50 lb. Amberjack. So we did cook a few days at the villa. This place has everything from minature golf, a movie theatre with up to date movies and also other plays etc. There is always something going on there. The pool is great along with the breakfast and lunch that is available there. There is also a new sports bar that opens at 5 p.m. with great chicken wings among other items to order, music and special events there also. I actually did not want to leave! Thank you Noreen for a wonderful vacation. We actually are thinking about going back next year."

  • A tropical Utopia

"We had promised ourselves an extended holiday somewhere in the tropics to escape another English winter. We researched extensively and Costa Rica came to the fore with its credentials for climate, fauna and wildlife. We chose Carillo and managed to stretch our visit to five weeks including travel from UK. We liaised with the owner who gave countless tips and helpful advice, we would recommend new visitors to do the same. Arriving at the house and stepping out onto the deck was just breathtaking, with views over the dry forest to the Pacific Ocean, humming birds darting in all directions, and howler monkeys occupying the adjacent Balsa tree. We used the upstairs master bedroom which gave an even wider vista, waking up every morning at daybreak to the sounds of parrots, woodpeckers and innumerable other birds was a humbling experience. We found the house easy to manage with a well laid out kitchen with big fridge freezer and generous oven. The outside lower deck has a BBQ and seating for alfresco dining. The pool below was perfect for cooling off after a hot day on the nearby beach. A 4wd is an absolute must as not all roads are paved, and we enjoyed exploring the numerous coves and beaches within easy reach. We also explored further to the Monteverde cloud forest and The Arenal which was another piece of advice given to us by the owner. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we look forward to returning in the future."

  • Best Family Get Away

"We are a family of 5 and stayed here in mid August. First of all the property was exactly as listed, which is always a concern when booking on line. The owner was very helpful to us and everything was as he stated. The condo was very clean and homely. Tamarindo itself was what we expected. We had great fun learning how to surf, and enjoyed a day of zip lining which was a great adventure. The town is about a 15 minute walk which we enjoyed everyday. We cooked at home a lot and loved getting the fresh fish and vegetables locally. There is a quality supermarket about 10 mins away by car and a local mini mart around the corner. All in all we had a wonderful time and would go back in the future. Dan , Marie & sons."
