"We were unsure where to stay in Costa Rica and just happened to come across Bahia Pez Vela at the last minute, and are we ever glad we did. What an amazing place. The villa has everything you will need on holiday. The kitchen is well appointed, the beds are very comfortable, and the eating area outside was great. It was very convenient having a washer and dryer in the villa. We spent many evening sitting outside as the weather was incredible. It gets dark early here and we were usually in bed by 9 pm but up at 5 and it already seemed that we had missed half of the day. Time is like that here. You can spend your day at the pool or at the beach, and Picante restaurant is wonderful. We ate here on several occasions. I have read reviews where they say that you don't need a vehicle, but I don't agree with that. Yes, there are taxis and buses, but it is so much more convenient to have an SUV (and you need an SUV on some of these roads). We went into Coco daily to pick up food or to have a meal. We also went on several day trips to Tamarindo, Arenal and Cortez Waterfalls. It is nicely located so all of these options are available.
We met several ex-pat Canadians while we were here. One of whom fished from our beach and the restaurant made a fresh Ceviche from the Parrot fish that he caught. The Howler monkeys were in the trees on the beach on several occasions, there were also raccoons and the crabs who lived in the hill going up above the villas were amusing. The water at the beach was very safe and we went snorkeling on several occasions. Several people staying at the resort were divers and went to Catalina Island which is very close.
I definitely recommend Casa Colina and Neil was a very responsive owner. We hope to be back soon."

"My boyfriend and I decided to take our January vacation in Costa Rica. Not only was this our first time traveling to CR, but also our first time using VRBO. We were very nervous but we had no issues using VRBO and we got our full deposit back the day we left the property-so if you have any concerns, don't!
When choosing our property, we wanted a mix of good tourist area where we would feel comfortable with things to do but without the super touristy resort like feel. With this property and area, I feel like we accomplished that! The night we arrived, Franklin showed us to the property. Both him and Ricardo are very nice and accessible. Whenever we contacted Ricardo, either before or during our trip, he was very quick to respond via phone call or email! He was also very helpful with recommending things to do etc.
The house itself is also great- it is located in a gated area, which made me feel safe and secure. A car is definitely needed for this property, preferably a 4 wheel drive or SUV (something with some clearance) as the roads in CR are not all fully paved. We managed fine with a sedan but would have felt better in an SUV, especially in the rain. (Also, most activities and such are definitely driving distance) The house was great with a master bedroom/bath and deck upstairs; another bedroom/bath downstairs; kitchen with utensils/bowls/etc; another deck off the living room which is gives you amazing sunset views!
The nearby town Nuevo Arenal (5 minute drive) has a grocery store, a bank and numerous restaurants with CR food, Italian, American and German food (so a great variety). The Windcatcher and German bakery were great breakfast spots. Los Platillos, Moyas and Tinajas (Tinajas is 5 min out of town on the lake) are great for lunch and dinner!
As far as activities, we drove to La Fortuna (35 minute drive) to see the waterfalls, go zip lining, hot springs, hanging bridges and hiking.
DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this property with Ricardo!"

"Spent nearly three lovely weeks at Casa Olaje. We love Nosara, but had never rented a house before. We wouldn't do it any other way now! A short walk to Playa Guiones, it's a beautiful house, and probably the cleanest rental I have ever stayed at! Large, fully-stocked kitchen, great for cooking in. Lots of hot water and good water pressure in the shower. The screened-in porch and pool are lovely, and the lush grounds attract tons of colourful birds and butterflies. The security guards at the entrance to the community were very professional and friendly, and patrolled the area regularly on foot. We felt extremely safe. Jaimy, the owner, and AnnMarie and Amber (property managers) were very responsive and helpful, and helped us with anything we needed. Wifi is in and out, but that's Nosara. Would definitely return to the beautiful and serene Casa Olaje - tomorrow, if possible!"
