Beautiful ocean views in a nice, quiet complex...
"The pros: the condo is in a nice complex with an attractive pool and hot tub that we enjoyed almost every day, most of the time having it all to ourselves. The condo has almost everything you need (except food...which is shockingly expensive). The master room is spacious with a nice size bathroom. I would have opted for different sinks as the bowls take up much of the counter space but there is a shelf below the sink too. The owners provide hand, dish and body (liquid) soaps and laundry detergent and fabric softener, plus the linens and beach towels, all included in the rental fee. The kitchen is well stocked with the essentials you need to make your own meals "at home." The views from the balcony are just beautiful! There wasn't always a breeze so it was sometimes too muggy with bugs around to enjoy but other times it was absolutely perfect. All the people we met at the complex, around town, and on tours were very nice and helpful. The owners were also a pleasure to work with.
The cons: the beds in the second room do not have the foam topper that the master bed has so they aren't as comfortable for adults (headboards aren't attached to the beds). The sheets and towels have some stains (the spare king-size sheets have a tear in them), several of them just need to be replaced. The condo has a few maintenance items that need to be addressed, mostly normal wear and tear, hard water, and a humid environment. There is an issue with a window/door leaking in the master bedroom when really strong winds accompany storms. We were without water 3 times so I would definitely recommend putting water in bottles and pots to keep on hand. We only lost power once, just for 10 minutes. The roads to the condo are rough so be prepared to experience the "Costa Rican car massage." The pool wasn't always cleaned so we spent a few hours skimming the pool (had we mentioned this to the maintenance staff, I'm sure it would have been addressed). Even after resetting and rebooting the modem and wireless router, the wireless internet in the condo rarely every worked so we were often using the wireless internet from the complex instead.
Other important info: taxis into town are anywhere from $5 to $10 one way (higher fare is to go to the Auto Mercado which has the largest selection around and gluten free items). Do NOT change money at the airport! Everywhere we went accepted US dollars.
Overall, we really enjoyed our 2 week stay at this well-priced condo!"

"I echo the other reviews in stating this house and location are great. The house is up the street a block from the main strip through a small town. The house was perfect for our two families of 10 total, beds were great. A/C was great and pool area wonderful for hanging out. Modern grocery was five minutes away, and town was small but very laid back with lots of options to eat. We liked we could put both rental cars in the garage and come and go with two sets of keys and garage door opener. Almost every morning the howler monkeys would come through the trees which was a huge bonus. We cooked in the big kitchen several times and maid service was nice to have. W/D made clean up from the beach easy. The beach was walking distance and you can rent chairs and awnings right there as well as beers and sunset empenadas. Truly a relaxing time watching the kids boogy board and surf. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Next time I will really debate whether we needed rental cars, hardly used them."

Good way to see how the locals live on permanent vacation
"My wife and I visited Casa Boaz on our honeymoon and had a good time in Tamarindo. We stayed in the Casita Romantica, which was plenty of room with a full kitchen and bathroom. The property itself is great for nature lovers, as there is wildlife all over the property, which you will want to become comfortable and acquainted with if you're going to enjoy Costa Rica, because it's everywhere. The pool was nice and cool and the outdoor shower was key. Dee was kind enough to allow us to use the surfboards for a few days, and we had a great time at the beach. She pointed us in the direction of some very good restaurants that you likely wouldn't find otherwise. She was very helpful.
Casa Boaz would likely be perfect for a large group of people who wanted to stay together, but also wanted their own privacy. The property isn't too far from the town, and as long as it's not raining (muddy roads), it's not that bad of a walk. Otherwise, I'd rent a car, bike or ATV to zip around to some cool spots. Thanks again, Dee."
